The jawless skull looked kinda cool too, like something you'd see in a curiosity cabinet. Looking forward for that type of stuff, man, it's really awesome !
I've never worked with pewter but I've casted a fair amount of silver. I've never heard about dusting the mold with graphite before. It's always good to learn a new trick.
Fricken beautiful! I tried to work with resin before and never really liked it not too mention the yellowing over time. I am stoked to try pewter not only does it look cool and fun to work with, it's recyclable! Like the mess up you had you were able to salvage most of the pewter for another pour. Cant do that with resin.
@The Dark Power Heavy...? Good to know as I plan on using it for jewelry at first. I have been working with precious metal clay (silver), which isn't very heavy, though it is very expensive. Plus, any mistake with the pmc is pretty much a loss until I can melt silver.
I know this was a year ago but smoke your mold with a candle so the black sot coats the mold Much better than what you have been using also preheat your mold and to make it shine put it in a vibrating tumbler with crushed walnut shells and at least a half a bottle of Nu- shine once a year car polish leave it in and running for at least 24 hour or longer Comes out super nice
Excellent! I thought it was gonna be pewter effect resin. Awesome seeing real metal casting indoors. What was the name of that silicon again? A Terminator skull would be cool. Or some bladed weapons for robots etc.. cool video!
With the yellowing resin, it seems to just be an inevitability. Peter Brown did a video not long ago revisiting the clear resin projects he’s done over the years on his channel and they’d all yellowed whether they’d been exposed to sunlight or left in a closet. Adding the slightest tint seems to prevent it yellowing though for some odd reason.
Ah that's interesting. Being in a van, my one was getting hit by sunlight very frequently so it was easy to see why it was happening. Interesting that it happens more widely though. Thanks!

Thanks, yeah I'll have to do another :)
Super cool seeing the process. The skull looks great too!
Thanks Chris 😁

I'd like to try silver! Yeah it's handy sharing knowledge. The graphite definitely gave me a decent cast, the only issue was the slightly gold sheen.
Very cool!
Thanks dude 😁
Nice job man!
Thanks! :)

Thanks. Yeah it's a nice material to work with and you can get some nice results. Only drawback is it's HEAVY.

@@alltaira5922 Yeah . I'm not sure how much the skull in the video weighs, but it feels like at least a kilo.
Love your channel so much. Would love to see this skull cast in copper with a weathered verdigris patina. Nice
Thanks Matt! I'll be doing some more cold casting soon so I'll have to give that a go :)
Looks amazing man
Cheers dude! Hope you're well :)

Thanks, will definitely give that a go next time I do some pewter casting!
@@thedarkpower the polishing works on any metal
What does the candle and black soot it produces on the mould do? Do the castings have better quality, in terms of definition?
Lovely job there! :)
Thanks! 😁
Great stuff. I want to try to do stuff like this to make custom parts for my classic car👍
Thanks. That's a great use for it. It may not matter for a car, but be warned this stuff is REALLY heavy!
Great job really enjoyed that
Thanks! :)

Thanks. Yeah I immediately thought of doing a terminator when I saw it ;) This is the silicon www.dwrplastics.com/high-temperature-resistant.html
@@thedarkpower thanks for the link. Yeah so many cool options, terminator, mandalorian, a knight or any armour really. I enjoyed that video!
6:54 that thing looks great. Like it has swept hair / some alien chitin-bone structure
Thanks!
This it's awesome. I was just telling the wife the other day that I wanted to get some pewter to do the same thing
Cheers, yeah it's good stuff. I want to do some more with it.
Amazing work my friend, would you ever consider doing a Nosferatu bust?
Thanks! Yeah possibly, if the mood takes me :)
Berry cool, 10/10
Cheers!

Where do you get your raw pewter?
I use this website www.dwrplastics.com/pewter-casting-alloys.html
Came out looking nice. Could the colour be leeched from the silicon (i noticed it was yellowish)
Thanks! Ah yes, maybe! I hadn't thought of that ;)
can you show us silver plating pewter.....
I've no idea how to do that!
very expensive way to mould
It was about £30....
