If she does it will because she could potentially bring me eyes to the sport. That could lead to people paying attention to their local team when she comes to town or on TV. That potentially could lead to those people becoming invested in their team and their players. Especially if those teams are closely competitive with her team. Will that happen? Who knows. It's possible though. That's what happened with those other NBA greats. When the Pistons were busting up Jordan early on Detroit was electric and people kept following and routing for the Bad Boys.

This is the best chance the wnba has but there’s still so much wrong from a male perspective.
The women ncaa has the absolute perfect blend that the wnba stars doesn’t. The top players all have very marketable and different play styles and personalities from Clark, Angel, Paige, Cameron, JuJu, HVL, and even some marketable role players like Gabby Marshall. U got the main star, potential rivals who could become the main star, noticeable role players with personas and signature play styles.
Also unironically the top college stars are decently attractive (which matters more than it should even in mens sports) and don’t give off the “lesbian” vibe the wnba does in the public eye which gets male audiences agitated. And then u even have well known coaches like lsu and South Carolina who have great resumes and personality also.
Literally NONE of this exists in the wnba which is why the wnba changing even if Clark continues to perform is going to be difficult. Bc at the very least she’s going to need a rival who also has fame of their own like a Paige or even better Reese. But the chances of even 2 of 3 of them becoming not just all star level players but top 5 in the wnba very early to ride the hype they’ve built in college is low.
If Iowa had a wnba team and could have Clark on that team that would’ve been generational since the fan base would be massive and guaranteed which could make the hype last longer. In Indiana bunch of people that may not be that invested in her might not care to pu to the games.

The NBA still had higher viewership than EVEN TODAY before Magic and Bird, all they did was make it more popular than it already was.

They don’t use the space on the court like women do. Maybe they need to make the courts bigger for the men. And women will dunk soon enough. And when they do, they are gonna fly and it is gonna look. No. The WNBA may be beyond saving. It's the only one that takes place outside basketball season. Once an NBA champion is crowned, fans are done and looking for a break, not to tune into more but lower quality basketball. Just look at spring football and how that's never been successful. Not saying WNBA should move the season because then you have 4 leagues (NBA, NCAA Men's, NCAA Women's and the WNBA) going on at the same time. I just don't think there is anything they can do grow the sport including the addition of a single player no matter how popular she currently is. At best her games will get higher ratings and live attendance... for awhile.
