Waterflame was the king of soundtracks back in the heyday of Newgrounds. I remember messaging him asking to use his Space Pirates track for a school project (programming a game on Scratch for extra credits physics class) and he was so nice! He let me use it and even asked if I wanted a seamless loop version - I had no clue what "seamless loop" meant back then, but I still appreciated how nice he was. Nice to see Aggy and the gang playing some nostalgic games.
Must be hard for a streamer/youtuber to pivot to a new thing successfully once their thing starts petering out in terms of views. Seems like the ones with the most longevity don't have a specific thing their audience numbers depend on, they have some sort of cult of personality where people will just watch whatever they're doing.

I remember the strategy I'd use, especially on harder difficulties, was to set up as many defenses as possible while staying in the Caveman period and spam basic infantry over and over again. Trying to keep up with the arms race against the computer was for chumps. You just survived until you had enough EXP banked to go from cavemen to the future era immediately, and then you built four turrets so you could win the attrition fest. And now that I have clicked ahead in the video I'm happy to see how things have stayed true.

Hard to believe nobody brought up the exploits you can do by abusing the pause function. You can pause/unpause the game by hitting space bar, and there are at least 3 different ways to abuse it to your advantage: -Your Special still recharges while the game is paused. -Units' attack animation is interrupted and reset when you pause, but turret animations and cooldowns aren't. Because of that, you can simply spam pause/unpause to make units unable to finish their attacks, while turrets are still able to shoot them. (Musketeers are the exception, while walking their shots hit on frame 1. If an enemy musketeer is walking and in firing range, every unpause will make them fire a shot, melting your units and base.) -Your units still get trained while the game is paused. This makes it even easier to stack a bunch of units to the very left to gang up on enemy units that have reached your base. If a bunch of enemy units are at your base, spamming a couple of ranged units while the game is paused does wonders. It's probably better to ban using this, but I'm just shocked nobody, including chat, seemed to know about it.
Iirc the cheese I used back in the day was the musketeer one. Got a line of my own musketeers and you could spam pause to take down everything in front of you.
Also, if you pause during your special (meteors or arrows) the screen will keep shaking, wait for it to stop and unpause so the projectiles all fall at the same time, this way they hit most enemies for sure.

I played along this stream, beat the game about 1 hour in cause I found out you can just stay on 1st age, you make an egg turret and spam cave mans, dont even need to special until age 3 ranged units come into play, when u have enough exp for age 4 you upgrade straight to it in 1 go, you buy 4 double machine guns right away, then you just upgrade them to ion cannons on age 5 and its gg, the computer cant do anything else anymore cause ion cannons are broken and hit the whole map, spawn killing enemy units and he doesnt build his own turrets only spams units so u can spam your normal soldiers in and win

Age of War, AdventureQuest, DragonFable, and RuneScape(2007, now called Old School RuneScape) were my go-to back then. If there wasn’t any internet connection or the school computers were in restricted mode, Pinball or Solitaire.
Got to agree with Astro, backseating rules seem a little crazy strict these days. Also just inconsistent. Did the guy at 1:40:50 get banned for suggesting staying on age 2? I've seen others get timedout for significantly less. Is it just dependant on whether or not Aggy wants the suggestion in the moment or not? I never played this game, I used to download non-flash games and play them from my 256GB USB at school lol. Great to see you guys race this though, it curious to see how quickly people learn.
its not the best strat but you can wall by just never upgrading and just spamming with 4 eggs and clubs and never upgrading age until youve saved for the final age to get some plasma casters and then its a free win. Really slow, and hurts your finger a lot clicking the club man button, but it's reliable.
easiest game ever, if you just build turrets and center on defense you will easly age up, once you in space age, the last turret will actually shoot so far it will destroy the enemy base and you win xd
To the guy who suggested this game: That was nonsensical, dumb, and egocentrical. "Lets torture them for half an hour for them to learn what prolly took me hours/days as a kid in a crappy game". And even after half an hour you dont help them much or tell them "Dastrats". Honestly quite annoying.

I remember playing this non stop when I was 10 or so years old. Definitely didn't expect to see you play this, even in my wildest dreams.
Man, 40min in and it's still frustrating seeing him get hurt because he just doesn't build his units before he gets hit.

The age of war flash game is my Roman empire. This makes me irrationally happy.
