    I just had my 71st birthday. I can across you utube belly dance cardio. I have been doing it three days now and find it very enjoyable, relaxing and I go swim in my pool and practice in there also. I feel that is helping me strengthen my weak areas from having arthritis for so long. I am tired of all the medication so I’ve decided to do some thing better and that is get up and move but I have always liked dancing so I put the two together and love your accent and you have motivated me. Hope to continue following you and trying to get my sisters to also check you out. Have a great day and keep up the good work please

    Im a beginner bellydancer, I've learned to shimmy but could never walk or even lift a foot while doing it. I watched this video once and finally I was able to shimmy across the floor! Thank you so much for posting. It helped me out a ton!

    Thank you so much for covering this. I've been struggling for about 5 months with the technique at speed, really looking forward to giving this technique a try! (I can do a 3/4 shimmy "fast", but it's not under control and I don't want to wreck my back!)

    • @cocoberlin
      @cocoberlin  10 років тому

      Cool @totchipanda, you have observed something important and if it's not under control it's not the hagala anymore :)

    Wow, your break down of the Hagala was great. I'm a 100% belly dancer beginner and this is the first time I've ever heard of the Hagala. The way you broke it down was very easy to understand and practice along with you. I don't feel like you went to fast and left out information or to slow with over detailing and boring ABC kindergarten talk. It was just right. Perfect! I wish I knew about you before buying Rachel Brice's Serpentine which is not at all for beginners like it states. I'm not saying it's a bad DVD, it's just simply for the dancer who already knows how to move and has already built their body to handle the moves(isolations). So thank you COCO I'm very excited to check out your other videos to help with my learning progress. I really feel like I can do this. Thank you so much for the confidence boost. I hope you have a great day. Sincerely - The Flabby Beginner, lol

    This is great Coco, one of the very few people to teach the folkloric hagala as opposed to a more 3/4shimmy (what does that even mean!??)
    This was the way I was taught and have seen very few people teach it like this since! Also the way you break it down is excellent as vey easy to follow and digest. I was trying to find something to be able to teach my friend and this is perfect!
    Great video.

    Hi, Koko! Die Übungen finde ich super. Ich vermisse aber nur eine genauere Differenzierung der zwei Bewegungen:
    3/4 Shimmy = gleichmäßig (2 Kicks pro Seite)
    Hagalla = Becken nach vorne drehen und 1. Schritt (1-2 zählen), dann Kick seitlich (3 zählen), andere Hüfte heben (4 zählen).

    Ist das 3/4 Shimmy dasselbe wie Hagala oder gibt es einen Unterschied? Viele Grüße!🙂

    • @cocoberlin
      @cocoberlin  Рік тому +1

      Hagala ist ein 3/4 shimmy. Aber es gibt auch andere 3/4 shimmies wie z.B. den “American basic”.

    what is the different between 3 Step shimmy and hagala

    • @cocoberlin
      @cocoberlin  9 років тому +1

      +ranjana Adhikaree there are two general kinds of 3/4 step shimmies: the "Hagala" and the "American Basic 3/4 Shimmy".
      1. They are counted differently.
      2. In the Hagala the emphasis is on the hip down movement while in the American Basic the emphasis is on the up accent.
      3. In the Hagala there is usually a Hip Twist and/or Tilt involved while the American Basic is focused on the Seesaw.
