Valve releasing 2 anniversary documentary for HL1 and HL2 in 2 years with serious real leaks of a HL3 being in development, all that while Square has been silenced on both KH4 and Missing-Link, I start to feel like Square is turning into the new Valve in regarding of Kingdom Hearts
I had to look this up. Half life one came out in 1998. Half life 2 in 2004. KH came out in 2002. Chain of memories came out in 2004... So that's a GBA game, a remake of the GBA game, Days, unchained to union, KH 2, birth by sleep, 3D, recorded the final mixes, 2.8, KH3 and dark road... All before Half life 3.... Yeah.... There's still a lot of social media activity on the square enix Twitter page, being very interactive with fans so I know they're probably cooking with that info too
I have always felt like we would get some information around Christmas time of 2024 at the earliest and that we would get more in 2025 with a release around the end of the year. Either way w eat least we know we will be getting a finished project instead of a work in progress.
I'm putting my bets on us getting info on missing link in March and kh4 info in the summer. It would make the most sense promotion wise. Kh has a history of showing stuff around then so that's where I'm placing my bet
I'm not really feeling hopeful for KH continuing. Honestly I think there is a problem with Disney. Imo KH3 was ruined because Square couldnt alter the stories of the Disney Worlds. And Disney is starting to develop games that feel like KH. Add that to the facts that they didn’t confirm any disney worlds for Missing Link, there keeps being delays for a mobile game, that kh4 is taking a more realist looking approach much like Disney Movies push away from animation, and Verum Rex being a homage to a failed passion project with a trailer place at the very beginning of the 1st new KH3 world like a cry for help and i honestly think Tetsuya Nomura is struggling with the limitations by corporate interest much like with Versus 13. And I remember worrying about this back in I think 2013 when they first talked about the Disney Worlds being canon to the universe in KH3. And when they tried to make kh3 an entry point for new players when it was pretty niche before. They announced these things like positives but to me they felt like warnings. DIsney wants to monopolize on its success in a way that is hurtful to the franchise by turning it into a huge ad for their movies and Nomura aint having it (imo).
I completely agree that it makes sense for them to start doing their own Nintendo Direct-esque streams. Lower cost and freedom to reveal information when its available and within reasonable release periods of said game being revealed. But Square has had alot a failures in recent years. KH3 was probably its best and highest grossing release recently, and thats to a niche audience. Wasted money on cancelled projects, which how many of those i dont think we will ever know, and then rereleasing old and already released/remastered IP when it doesnt make sense to. Personally, i have enjoyed their silence because i hope that means that they are ready to give a MAJOR upgrade in quality of release, and the polish on that release. Hopefully they start getting on track, because otherwise its looking like they will either be forced into a position of shutting down or being acquired. Latter case being the best remaining option.
“Does square enix finally know when to announce their games not so early” dude they’re never gonna learn their lesson they’re going to continue to announce their games too early and they’re gonna continue to develop garbage games😒 I’ve lost all faith in square enix all of their previous triple A games have all been disappointing and god awful to me and tons of people can agree with me on that
Yeah I thought we were going to see at least one new game announcement from them that is not KH4. None the less, I can wait and super happy with the reveals we did get especially with classic capcom series returning and Clive in Tekken.
I think it’s good for there to be no constant news. I don’t think people want another situation with KH3 where we heard about it so often we were spoiled on a lot. But I do think an update or something from Nomura would be nice. Plus, I doubt we will see anything about 4 until Missing Link drops.
Even though I’m annoyed about the fact that will still don’t have any news I’m busying myself with other things so I don’t go insane. I love Kingdom Hearts but but I will definitely be focusing on my other interests until we have news, I recommend the wider fandom does the same as it’s seriously not healthy to completely tie yourself to something no matter how much it means to you
At least in 2024, we still got the release of the Sora Amiibo and the Steam releases of the games except MoM. Granted, those have nothing to do with future games but it does mist the drought a bit where it's not completely dry.
It hurts to hear that ff16 "didn't meet sale expectations", it's one of my all time favorite games and square really needed to temper their expectations for a Playstation exclusive, if they don't wisen up now they'll be facing the same crisis they faced when they made final fantasy
The industry has a problem with announcing these games too early and leading to these long droughts without any news. I'm adamant that games should not be announced more than 2 years out from release and developers should be able to have a consistent roll out of updates, trailers, and interviews during that time then we wouldn't run into these issues.
It is pretty insane that we haven't gotten ANY updates on KH4 since the reveal. I don't think this is gonna be a KH3 situation, but I'm starting to think we might not get the game until after FF7R3 (which is likely a 2027 game) I'm hoping we get some news in 2025, but if the dry spell continues....
I don't have many gaming franchises I'm into, but I'm glad I'm not obsessed with KH to the point of getting more and more impatient as the years go by and we get no news.
They need to do something about so much narrative being on strange platforms and or, completely unavailable. Like Union X. That shit is mega important to the plot and it's just...gone? Or, Idk? I'm not even sure anymore.
I just hope and pray that we'll see new TWEWY content. Unfortunately, Neo was given a shoestring budget and apparently was meant to sell as good as FF7R and their Marvel tie-in game? I think they just don't know how to manage expectations and are expecting exponential growth
Here's a low-likely theory, but what if Square Enix and Disney want to release more Kingdom Hearts stuff around the time when (Only has been rumors but-) the Kingdom Hearts animated/live action series/movie starts generating buzz? I think it's good marketing if they held off to wait for those projects to 'sync' a bit more?
im telling yall,KH4 wont be out til 2026. Nomura LOVES the numbers 7 and 13. 2019 was when KH3 came out,7yrs later will be 2026. in fact,we have gotten a major KH Sequel every 7yrs so far , since KH2. KH3D came out 7yrs after 2,and KH3 came out 7yrs after 3D.
Squenix should realise that they have lost the mass market. They have a hardcore audience for Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy but it's not large enough to make a healthy profit. The rest of the audience doesn't care.
Instead of saying “I told you so”, I will just repeat this. 2025 will be a dry year too since Missing Link has no release window now, and KH4 is a mystery. With the talks of a direction change, I assume KH4 and Missing Link are being completely overhauled. Until they show something, I do not believe these games are coming out. 2025 will be another year of nothing, 2026 is the soonest to expect a Missing Link update, and 2028 is the soonest to expect a KH4 release
@ I’m keeping my hopes below ground because I’m used to being disappointed. I may as well just expect nothing and move on to other games, and maybe one day I will be surprised
I'm sure they're cooking behind the scenes. Probably trying to figure out what to remaster next. Or they may try and create new ip that will have a better chance of landing. I think they're starting to learn not to make premature announcements
With the underperformance of Rebirth at the TGAs, I think people are underestimating how bad Square’s situation may be. That was their best game in decades and it couldn’t win any major award. There is a real possibility they may just get bought out by Sony in a few years …
So like I said before Square hit a roadblock that threw them off this year and it required them to make changes. Likely being the reason they’ve remained quiet. Now I do not agree with not communicating that to us if that is the case and I hope the high up execs are getting chewed out for their stupid choices that caused the roadblock to start with.
I remember when we thought KH3’s assets and newfound engine expertise would future proof development time and somehow we’re in a bigger drought. I think they went a little too hard on KH3 marketing so it’s not so much that I need a trailer as I wonder why they even announced it.
As much as I’m excited for kh4 I would’ve liked if kh3 was the ending for the series for awhile. And to just do a remake of the first game. I think the series needs to breath and look back to how everything started again
I didn't know that Square Enix changed leadership. That might be a step in the right direction, because for the past three years or so the president of Square Enix has been putting out these end-of-year letters reflecting on the year and stating goals for the next year of the company, and they've all mentioned NFTs and crypto. I'm hoping that with a new president who's wiped out a glut of development projects, he's also put the kibosh on any crypto-related projects. Talk about a waste of time and money. On the other hand, I remember there being talk back in the day about how Square were holding off on a fully fledged Final Fantasy 7 remake unless they needed an absolute hail mary. This is just hearsay in the gaming space so I could be all wrong, but the Remake announcement came off the heels of Final Fantasy XV - itself a game with a troubled development cycle and not the best sales - and the divisive FFXIII trilogy. FF14 was in there too, both the original release and A Realm Reborn, but from XIII onwards I feel like the flagship Final Fantasy brand has been in trouble. Final Fantasy 7 Remake came at a point where the brand was in a very shaky position, and it was probably the sort of buoy that the company needed at the time. A part of it was also Nomura talking with another dev, and they both crunched the numbers and realised that if they wanted to go for the remake, they had to start right then and there. Because by the time the last Remake game comes out, a lot of people involved with the original Final Fantasy 7 are going to be reaching retirement age. Personally, I would like for there to be a changing of the guard where people like Nomura and Kitase step down and new blood like Yoshi-P step up, and they build a new phase of Final Fantasy off of the bones of FF14, the 7 Remake project and XVI. But with Rebirth not selling as well as it needed to, I'm concerned that Square Enix is in a lot more trouble than they're letting on. 7R, as a hail mary, is not turning out as well as they had hoped. A large swath of oldschool Final Fantasy figures are about to reach retirement age. I have no idea how successful the XIII games were, but they drove a wedge in the fanbase that seems to have affected their later games; XV had a troubled production and didn't do gangbusters due to its confusing multimedia approach, and XVI as a console exclusive didn't sell the kind of numbers that Square Enix wanted. So being a massive pessimist, here's what I think. I think Final Fantasy 7 Remake part 3 could end up being the last Final Fantasy game. The money has been allocated, the team has been retained, they're making that game without question. Beyond that, it would come down to how well Part 3 sells, as well as how it works out for the Remake project as a whole because the final game coming out means there's gonna be a bunch of people playing the first two. If Part 3 doesn't sell well, and the buoyed sales of the first two installments don't do well, I could see the company either downsizing even more than they're doing now or even going under. In that scenario, I think Kingdom Hearts 4 could end up being the last KH game. Whether Nomura retires or Square Enix goes down the toilet, I don't think they could make a hypothetical KH5 to wrap the whole thing up. Again, this is all just inflated hearsay from some stranger on the internet. But that's what I think based on what I've heard over the years.
0:16 okay someone needs to edit this bit by turning Jared's face red and making steam come out of his is ears! xD Hopefully 2025 will give us something to look forward too!
Trust me, once we get another trailer for kingdom hearts 4, they promotion and marketing for it will be crazy from the year up to release. A very similar situation to KH3. Mark my words!
Sensor Tower which is a revenue site for gacha games just put out their monthy report and the Square Enix games for the ones that it listed made a total of $5,640,000 last month with FFBE (JP only now) making $500,000, Octopath COTC making $840,000 between both versions, FF7 Ever Crisis making $2,300,000 between both versions, and WOTV: FFBE making $2,000,000 between both versions and that’s only counting the games that the site lists as SQEX has a bunch of other mobile games like Romancing SaGa Re:Universe that doesn’t make its profits public but is very profitable in Japan. Basically without these mobile games and FF14 generating a ton of money for the company then they would’ve been bankrupt a long time ago and a good chunk of money from FF14 and the mobile games goes into developing their AAA games.
I will be 100%. I was expecting KH to have some promotion this year. But it is smart to always make changes when things are not too good. We do need to EXPERIMENT to see what suits better. When I heard that we got a new President i was actually happy. Especially somebody younger. Fresh mind and perhaps more modern Business discussions. I have been patiently waiting for KH and I still am. ML is something im a little worried. But with plans to make changes and prioritize how they spend their money is more important. This is a smart move. I believe SE will start to prosper starting in the next couple years. But investors are going to be what gets SE going. And then the audience. They need to expose to the investors on what we want.
@Star-eg3qt I meant who knows when it’s gonna release, and I do care about it. I just hope it’s gonna release sometime this upcoming year… my shot is probably March.
Love that square has the balls to make fans sit and wait while dangling rotten fruit in our faces. The fact that we all have to sit here and convince ourselves that missing link is a good enough addition simply because of how lacking we are in content sucks. Them splitting focus between 2 kh games when they’ve failed to prove that they can properly make 1 as of late doesn’t sit right with me.
It’s prolly because they knew IGN was fucking around with rankings, and also so they wouldn’t have to share a spotlight. Further, not submitting anything this year means they dodged all the drama going on.
I mean we are about to be 6 years later kh4 is still nowhere to be found. They told us they wouldn't do this again, and Nomura, a we know, already had his time split with the ff7r series. Disney is in a much worse state as well.
That year release to reveal is precisely why I doubt we'll see anything KH4 in 2025. If we do it'll be towards the middle/end of 2025, as ML will probably release midish 2025 and we won't hear anything about 4 till that's out. I'm expecting a 2027 or later release for KH4.

You know what I find it really insane? Valve releasing 2 anniversary documentary for HL1 and HL2 in 2 years with serious real leaks of a HL3 being in development, all that while Square has been silenced on both KH4 and Missing-Link, I start to feel like Square is turning into the new Valve in regarding of Kingdom Hearts
nah its coming out soon chill out unlike Half life 3 that game is never coming.
Yeah.... I think we're fine
@@phantombigboss8429 I was making a joke about the silence on KH and how we have more stuff out of Valve. Besides I am not joking about HL3, the codes found through dataminding 100% con firm a new HL game is in development, regardless fi it is a HL3 or HLx, something is for real being worked on now, even Gave hinted at it at the end of 2 hours documentary video.
@ until the game comes out it’s not happening.
@@greenth-mac2550 your joke was flat because Kingdom Hearts released more games between Half life 2 and Half life Alyx. So I don’t get it at all. It took more than ten years for Kingdom hearts 3 to come out. I’m sure KH4 will come out when it’s ready. Also Half life 3 is the one late to the party here. Almost every game I waited for years came out first than Half life 3.
Its okay next year when the Switch 2 drops Square will release native KH ports for it and then the year after we get KH 4
I’m honestly keeping my expectations for KH4 low. It’s painful when they tease a new trailer for KH then we hear nothing about it for a long time.
Looks like it'll be till 2026 for KH4 and part 3 of FF7 in 2027.
“Does square enix finally know when to announce their games not so early” dude they’re never gonna learn their lesson they’re going to continue to announce their games too early and they’re gonna continue to develop garbage games😒 I’ve lost all faith in square enix all of their previous triple A games have all been disappointing and god awful to me and tons of people can agree with me on that
2026 would not surprise me
Yeah I thought we were going to see at least one new game announcement from them that is not KH4.
I think we'll see Indiana Jones in KH IV
That would be sick.
honestly, wouldn’t mind that.
Eww 😂
Okay that would kind of rock ngl
There was also the Super Mario RPG remake that was released this year.
Nope, this is what they ALWAYS DO
How can you guys have faith in Square after everything that happened with KH3’s development?
Even though I’m annoyed about the fact that will still don’t have any news I’m busying myself with other things so I don’t go insane. I love Kingdom Hearts but but I will definitely be focusing on my other interests until we have news, I recommend the wider fandom does the same as it’s seriously not healthy to completely tie yourself to something no matter how much it means to you
i refuse to do or believe anything till i see something from square, we are about to hit the 3 year mark, and im bummed out lol
This is just normal experience for kh players lol. I wouldn't be alarmed. 🙃
It’s different this time around something’s off :/ trust me I’ve been around for the entireeee ride
Ok, but like, has your source got things right in anything in the past?
Or is it newish and more of a “have faith” kinda deal?
I hope Nomura’s health is okay. That is what I’m starting to worry most about with his lack of interviews and appearances.
I don't think this is gonna be a KH3 situation, but I'm starting to think we might not get the game until after FF7R3 (which is likely a 2027 game)
I'm hoping we get some news in 2025, but if the dry spell continues....
I think it's reasonable to expect a number of titles boiling under the surface, I'm anticipating a number of titles being announced nexxt year
I don't have many gaming franchises I'm into, but I'm glad I'm not obsessed with KH to the point of getting more and more impatient as the years go by and we get no news.
Their expectations have been way too high. They made crazy profit and still said it fell short for so many of their games
IF it comes out, KH4 is not coming out until Q4 of 2026if not early 2027 and "Missing Link" MAYBE spring or summer 2025... Mark my words... 😤
im telling yall,KH4 wont be out til 2026.
2026 is my bet too for the exact same reason. Nomura loves his numerology lol
Dang, aren't we pessimistic (No, this is not realistic).
@ I’m keeping my hopes below ground because I’m used to being disappointed. I may as well just expect nothing and move on to other games, and maybe one day I will be surprised
If kingdom hearts is getting cancelled I’m becoming the master of masters myself
I'm sure they're cooking behind the scenes. Probably trying to figure out what to remaster next. Or they may try and create new ip that will have a better chance of landing. I think they're starting to learn not to make premature announcements
hi TheGamersJoint
If they released another kh game maybe they will make some damn money.. just gimmie kh4 man alskjdalsjdlakjs
I always thought KH was going to be put on the backburner until after the FF7 trilogy finished so I'm not particularly worried.
DQ 12 still coming soon i think....
With the underperformance of Rebirth at the TGAs, I think people are underestimating how bad Square’s situation may be. That was their best game in decades and it couldn’t win any major award. There is a real possibility they may just get bought out by Sony in a few years …
Square enix going through a personal “remake” and will reemerge through a new “rebirth” of games Awwwwww I see the vision
It almost feels like they accidentally announced KH4 and forgot they ever did that
I’ll bet my whole wallet that we don’t get a trailer next year I’ll even bet my car we’re not getting any news until December 2025
I feel like a new KH trailer could pop up anytime soon... and yes, a showcase of their own makes total sense
No ff9 at TGA 😭
I remember when we thought KH3’s assets and newfound engine expertise would future proof development time and somehow we’re in a bigger drought. I think they went a little too hard on KH3 marketing so it’s not so much that I need a trailer as I wonder why they even announced it.
At this point I’m replaying trying to platinum the series on PlayStation. Currently doing a undefeated, unchanging armor on proud mode for KH1
KH Fans: “We haven’t heard about KH4 since 2022!”
Okami fans: “I don’t wanna hear it! Let us have this one!”
As much as I’m excited for kh4 I would’ve liked if kh3 was the ending for the series for awhile. And to just do a remake of the first game. I think the series needs to breath and look back to how everything started again
Firing the whole mana team was pretty wrong imo on their restructuring
Its a joke square says there sales falling short its their expectations thats are too high maybe they need to be more realistic
It is also getting close to new console season, so that might have an impact on things too.
It would be a massive fail if Square is doing their own showcase instead of TGA. TGA has substantially more viewership
Can't wait for our third New Year's letter from Square about them doubling down on NFTs
0:16 okay someone needs to edit this bit by turning Jared's face red and making steam come out of his is ears! xD
Hopefully 2025 will give us something to look forward too!
Hey, ff7r got an award. i guess that's something....
🤡🤡🤡🤡
Trust me, once we get another trailer for kingdom hearts 4, they promotion and marketing for it will be crazy from the year up to release. A very similar situation to KH3. Mark my words!
It's probably going to be another 358x2 days before we here more information 😭
If we ever get KH4 news, it'll be at a random Tokyo Games Fest. Square doesn't really care about American events
Hey, Disney! I know what you can do with all of that Inside Out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Moana 2 money.
When is missing link coming out ?!
@Star-eg3qt who even knows at this point?
@ who cares?! What I’m hearing now is that it’ll be here next spring but it might as well be next summer
@Star-eg3qt I meant who knows when it’s gonna release, and I do care about it. I just hope it’s gonna release sometime this upcoming year… my shot is probably March.
@ everyone says it’s going to be next year
@Star-eg3qt maybe it will… maybe it won’t. Atleast try to have some hope!
I’m so worried we won’t get kh4, it just looks too cool and too good to be true
I mean we are about to be 6 years later kh4 is still nowhere to be found. They told us they wouldn't do this again, and Nomura, a we know, already had his time split with the ff7r series. Disney is in a much worse state as well.
That year release to reveal is precisely why I doubt we'll see anything KH4 in 2025. If we do it'll be towards the middle/end of 2025, as ML will probably release midish 2025 and we won't hear anything about 4 till that's out. I'm expecting a 2027 or later release for KH4.
Noo square WHAT IS IT NOW 😭
