Exactly there are a lot of sugar in ice frappucinos, fruit juices, flavoured yogurt (try eating plain yogurt to see the difference), ice-creams, soft drinks or condensed milk drinks as well. Sugar doesn't just come bubble tea alone.
So, I used to work next door to a boba tea shop in a mall. I love boba tea. I got it at least once, sometimes twice a day. usually it was an iced black tea, non-dairy creamer, no sweetner, honey popping boba (and coffee jelly if I was feeling fancy). They eventually started making the tea when they saw me in line. And eventually we became friends and they stopped charging me altogether. (Love my boba tea friends you are the real MVPs) I lost 20lbs because I wasn't eating garbage and filling up on tea. If you are get 100% sweetener, it's not really a surprise; you're gonna have a bad time
YES I work at a boba tea shop now and I’m gonna start getting the lower calorie options, but boba tea with the pearls really fills me up so I’m using that to help me on my weight loss!
As I age, all the dramas that I used to watch no longer interest me and I tend to go for informative channel, documentaries that are unbiased or find out answers to questions that are relevant to my life but I don't have the time to find out. Kinda glad that CNA is appealing to me in this aspect.
bubble milk tea is basically dessert in a cup. its caloric value is anywhere between 200 and 300 calories depending on type and size. it's equivalent to consuming 2-3 scoops of ice cream daily. I personally don't get milk tea with boba every day - maybe once or twice a week. So I'm sure I'll/we'll be alright. And let's be honest those who do love boba milk tea don't actually have it every day...unless of course, you are crazy and have given up on life.
I love BBT; it's food for the soul. But I always order 0% sugar if I am adding toppings, since most pearls are cooked with sugar and subsequently soaked in sugar water, so 0% sugar brewed tea with toppings is already mildly sweet. Tips for ordering a healthier BBT: 1. Plain brewed teas have the least calories, compared to flavoured teas, macchiatos and milk teas (with the same sugar level, toppings added). 2. Choose 0% or 25% sugar level (lesser sugar added, lesser calorie). 3. Choose FRESH Milk Tea over Milk Tea (milk teas are, in general, made with creamer - artificial + unhealthy). 4. Avoid drinking macchiato (the foam cap is basically whipped cream - fattening) 5. Ask for less toppings (pearls are carbohydrates; the lesser you consume, the lower your calorie intake). 5. Choose healthier toppings like Konjac Jelly over Tapioca Pearls (Konjac Jelly at least have fibre, which can help you to feel full). 6. Opt for flavoured BBT made using FRESH fruit juice instead of those made using flavoured syrup (because it's artificial). P.S. I still LOVE my BBT. 😍
Thank you for sacrificing your body and health for us to know the negative effects of bubble tea. Please be healthy and exercise after the one month challenge.
They are SWEET! Which is why I just started opting for the lightly sweetened oolong with no boba or unsweet with boba. I do miss my honeydew milk tea though.
I used to get the Hongkong Coffee bubble tea with half the syrup. Still sweet for me. Eventually just stopped drinking it because it's not my kind of drink. If I have a hankering for the pearls, I just buy the already made packs then add them to my iced coffee
To be honest unless you're ordering a more traditional tea such as Jasmine, Assam, Oolong, Earl Grey, Ginseng and others like that (with Camellia sinensis) then what you're drinking isn't really tea, it's just an artificially flavored powder with dairy-free creamer. Source: worked at a bubble tea shop. Strawberry, Honeydew, Taro, and other milk teas were artificially flavored mix powders. Matcha really depends; I've been both the Matcha essence and the artificial stuff. But yeah, way to be safe is to avoid these more complicated ones. Sorry guys, Taro made from the actual root isn't even a thing in probably 99% of bubble tea shops.
I always get the 25% sugar option and it's just the right amount for me. I can't understand how people drink the regular one cause even the 50% tastes way too sweet for me.
I know right?!? This is funny cuz I ordered one every afternoon for three and a half years and nothing happened. They were delicious. The only reason I stopped is cuz I got stuck outside China during the pandemic
i make my own boba at home and this is how i do it: Thai tea as a base usually maybe a serving of boba? could be more, could be less. After i finish cooking them i put about a tablespoon of brown sugar on them and mix it up to dissolve it. Maybe 1/2 cup of reduced fat milk? Around a tablespoon of some kind of sweetener if i want it sweeter Idk if this is more or less healthy from buying it at a shop, but idk. my parent’s coffee has more sugar and calories than my boba, that’s for sure.
Wow.... I would get severe sugar rush which will cost be to be tired all the time... I really admire him for doing this experiment but I hope his body is gonna be okay also.
The culprit is all those pearls, other add-ons, cream, milk and sugary syrups that makes the BBT looks and taste yummy. Without these it's not BBT. So much better to treat it as a reward (like cakes) and drink occasionally instead of an everyday drink. Drink in moderation so everyone's happy. 😊
For me, I’m drinking my bbt without sugar. And only sometimes I try some of them with sugar because we can’t remove it 😂 And even though I love bbt, I don’t drink it 3 times per week, I don’t even know if I drink one every month or every 2 months ? Oof, all that sugar is so unhealthy. Whenever I get bubble tea I request 30% sugar.
Is it only me that whenever i order bubble tea in chatime or gong cha i will order 0% sugar. Because for me, the pearl is already sweet.
wow how did he take 100% sugar the whole month 50% is alr way too sweet for me
Yah I was thinking why he didn’t modify it
only little who cares about health ,the others dont care becoz their life has no value, regret always come at last
I drink bubble tea every few months but now I haven’t drink it in a year
Hey I thought snuff films were not allowed on youtube
Bubble tea is life
My school has review his vid btw I’m Singaporean
I love boba but this is why I don't drink it every day.
Sugar level : "it's over 9000!!!"
I am satisfied that ur comment didn't blow up >:D
i see you like more then 50 comments and this only hass two
i always order 25% because at 50%> you're literally just drinking sugar lol, 0% if i adding pearls or a sweet milk foam topping and it still tastes really good and u can taste the tea
Thank you for doing this so I don't have to
