Yes. This dough base is the best. In my case - I replcae xanthan gum and protein with melted cheese as a binder instead. But not much of it so it does not become a base. For pizza dough - I replace almond with lupin flour. Best low carb gluten free dough possible.
Just made these, they came out great! I didn’t have sour cream so used thick yoghurt instead and didn’t seem to matter. Finally a keto roll that looks/tastes similar to a real bread roll. Thank you.
Mine turned out like heavy, giant, dry, crumbly almond cookies. 😂 I've pretty much given up on low carb baked goods. I do love your channel and great videos, just gonna stick to burgers on a plate for now.
Listening a second time I’m gathering the ingredients to make it as you see them! We bought some veggie burgers this week and looking forward to trying your buns. Thank you for all your hard work, Annnie!!!
The golden are delicious! I really can’t stand the strong flavor of regular flax- golden flax is a wonderful addition to baked goods! I love her ingredient combo here- can’t wait to try these! I can’t stand too much psyllium husk in breads- this combination seems just perfect! I’m excited
How ell would these stand up to a chopped beef brisket sandwich? I've been saving a portion of a smoked brisket from the 4th of July and want to enjoy it chopped up for sandwiches but don't wish to use store bought buns. I plan on enjoying it on Labor day since it falls between my ex's and my birthday this year hers is the 9th and mine is today.
I have had so many plain hamburgers on Keto, just cook, plop it in a bowl and eat. Ok. But my love before Keto was a great cheeseburger. I tried Walmart buns and while it was nice to have a cheeseburger, they buns are too small and no sesame seeds and sooooo boring and bad, I never realized that a good bun is crucial to a great cheeseburger. I need to try there buns. Going to order the pysillium husk powder as that's not available near me in rural NH. Hoping these are much better than the garbage Keto ham buns at Walmart!!
How would I add yeast to this recipe? I don't have any regular sugar so I'm wondering if inositol would do to help the yeast bloom or whatever they call it.
If you use a small amount of honey, it will feed the yeast and be consumed in the process. And a small amount of honey very occasionally is still fine in keto. I count it and still stay at my self-imposed limit of 6g of sugar per day. I could possibly go up to 8-9g on a day I eat something else with onions or tomatoes then also add a bit of honey. By the time you take amount of sugar in the honey that you used to bloom the yeast (and wasn’t consumed in the process), and spread it across the total of your recipe, it’s fairly inconsequential.
Thank you for your videos! I’m just starting keto, found your videos and subscribed because everything looks delicious, so maybe I can do this. Can you tell me the purpose of using the golden flax seed. Can I leave it out?
Volume. It's a neutral flavor and it basically acts like more Almond flour with none of the carbs and adds a bunch of fiber to it. Hemp Hearts will probably do the same, but if this is your first try with the recipe or Keto baking in general, this is a solid starting base.
I've bought no carb bread at Walmart, Meijer and Aldis. They were not good. I finally went to a lower carb, lower calorie, high fiber bread and just eat less of it. I would love to find a no carb bread that was edible and I didn't have to take out a loan to buy it. Lol
I just made them and found that the bottom was not browned and crumbled easily. What did I do wrong? btw- they tasted great, but just would like it more browned on bottom
Alright so I tried this, and It reminds me of another, however with both versions there is absolutely 0 rising and it ends up super dense, what part of the recipe is supposed to make it rise?
Ayata Hiragi Add a spoon of active dried yeast to a bowl of warm water with a teaspoon of honey to activate it. When it is frothy add to your mix and combine. It won’t rise almond flour much but it will make a more airy product. It will also make it taste more like real bread.
Thanks for sharing the recipe. Please allow me to correct the pronunciation of "xanthan." The word ends with an "n," not "m." It's a common mispronunciation. Again, thanks for your efforts. It isn't easy to consistently produce and upload good content, but you do a great job.
@@carolinagirl8098 Havent tried the buns yet, but in other recipes I generally just substitute it with more almond flour. A little bit more than the flax amount, cause almond flour tends to be more wet in the end.
Good question and one I didn’t have an answer to so I googled flaxseed substitutes and though I’ve never tried these before, it looks like hemp seeds may be your best bet. If nothing else, they are not considered an estrogen mimicker. The other substitutes, such as tofu and wheat germ, are estrogenic. You could also try psyllium husk powder.
By the way, I stopped consuming flaxseeds and soy products the first time I heard that they were estrogen mimickers. This was years ago and I am so glad I did. I believe I have prevented experiencing a lot of the problems women my age face because I stopped consuming these estrogenic foods.
@@misterscruffle Half the ingredients are seeds...not just the ones you sprinkle on top. Psyllium and flaxseed (in that one it’s right in the name!) are seeds.

*These buns have a great texture and flavor, and they hold up well with all the toppings.*
I really love you,put the recipe up and we don’t have to hunt it through millions of adds on a blog…thank you. Great channel.

Look great!! I don’t have whey protein here, how can I substitute it? Thanks
Oh my gosh. That burger looks amazing.
These look really good, and quick and easy to make. I have psyllium husk powder, but not the flakes. Can i use that, and if so, what proportion?
These look great. Thanks for sharing this

Hi. Can I use isolate instead of protein powder? Thanks
The one she recommends is Whey protein Isolate

Flax seed is full of estrogens, I leave it out and exchange it for lupin or almond flour.
Looks really great except the eggs!! I'm allergic to eggs! Any substitute recommendations
Oh no! I think they could be done without the egg, they just might be a little dense
Thx
Blessings always ❤️👏☝🏼💯
I’m eager to try these 💜🦋
Yes! They definitely make eating burgers enjoyable again 😀
Do they crumble when you bite into them?
I just made these today and the bottom crumbled a bit. Tasted great though
Psyllium allergy 🥺
Just a bummer.
I have to make food for my wife to get her to do keto. Always looking for ideas...
Oh no!
Old fashioned sifter do they still make those?
Still use my grandmothers! Might check antique stores
They still sell them.
Thrift stores
Really nice recipe 👍
Thank you!!
Can I omit xanthan gum?
Me too!
You could, but it’s what gives it the “bready” feel. That stretchiness and elasticity.

Salt as Processed food
So...I go out and spend $100. on things that are not in my pantry and HOPE that I like them? I just can't afford that kind of risk.
Luckily, I have all these ingredients in the pantry! I would think many serious Keto cooks would.
@@SanJoseDale Yes…most of us who cook low carb all the time would use these ingredients in many dishes.
If you’re gonna stick with a keto diet, you were going to do some keto baking. I would suggest you make an investment in your health!
I don't have a flour sifter. What happens if I don't sift it? I guess I could run it through a wire strainer if necessary.
Just make sure you whisk it well so that all the lumps from the almond flour get mixed up
Do you have to use the flax seed?
Yes, you have to use it. Now shut up and put your mask on!
Can I get the ingredients for your keto buns?
I just made them and found that the bottom was not browned and crumbled easily. What did I do wrong? btw- they tasted great, but just would like it more browned on bottom
I’m not sure what happened. That hasn’t happened to me (crumbling). I don’t think they get real brown in the bottom. You could always toast them
I’m wondering if you took them off the pan and tried to cut them too soon? If you let them cool, they don’t crumble.
Lower your oven rack

Flax is estrogenic. What else can I substitute? Chia is estrogenic too so I don't want that either.
What do you mean? They are healthy tho

Taste more like cornbread than buns
For some reason I feel the urge for a Wendy's Triple Pretzel Pub Burger.
I often crave a Burger King Bacon King or the Wendy's Baconator. Damn Keto!!

Those store keto breads have the worst ingredient which is Soy oil🤢
