      honestly yes! a division system based on how well you did and maybe it can be a playlist of maps based around a certain skill set? One day could be aim or stamina and can differ based on player skill ranges? that would be so cool!

    I would love to see some implementation of a dedicated "Practice mode".
    A mode where you could play the map with a visible timeline that you can click around to skip through the map to specific parts you want to practice, along with a hotkey for saving position and going to said position.
    This can be expanded further with a looping system too where you click drag over the timeline to create a "loop region" which once you reach the end of, it goes back to the start of the loop region. This will make practicing a specific part a lot easier and streamlined.
    It would make improving and practicing in modes outside of Standard SO MUCH BETTER.

    As a very casual player, I'm not particularly engaged with any of the community, but I'd still love to know what other players have been playing has been up to. I don't really venture outside of the game or youtube comment sections, so that makes it hard to keep track of things. I'd love to see a "top play of the week" or "top map of the week" section on the main menu. They could be based on plays/score, or on votes (or both with 'popular' and 'top rated' categories).
    A convenient in-game way to access beatmap packs would also be very nice to have, as a way of getting more 'official' levels

    1. Fix laggy song selection
    2. Be able to skin everything like you can in stable
    3. Rate adjust ranked
    4. hit notification indicator for if it was to slow or fast like a blue 100 for fast and red 100 for slow that can be recolored/skinned to your preference
    5. A way to generate collections based on things like length ar bpm cs etc
    6. Hotkey switch skins
    7. Be able to subscribe to beatmap packs so it automatically downloads the newest like automatically download the newest ranked map pack
    8. Something like osu collector built into the game where people can post there collections and you can put in filters for types of collections then download the collections

      i think 8 could be easily implemented with the playlists system that already exists in lazer, its kind of like collections already except limited time score competition

    the main thing I think lazer is lacking is expanded skinning tools. The current workflow sucks and I'd like to see it improved. Skins are one of the few things that stable still does better than lazer, which is disappointing given how much more sophisticated the lazer skinning infrastructure is

      I agree. I love lazer but stable skins are the thing I miss the most from playing it. You can import stable skins, yes, but they don't integrate very well with the current features at all.

      You can't even edit old skins properly in lazer, which is majorly annoying. Customizing your skin in lazer *sucks* and the skin editor is arcane magic to understand. Still haven't figured out if you even can change/delete stuff from old/legacy skins on it.

      Completely agree. I had to reinstall stable just to edit my skin, then export it and reimport in laser lol. The skin editor has so much room to expand still so I hope it’s near the top of their priorities

    i want to see lazer have the ability to skin everything from main menu and score screen and more just purely to have it look the same as stable.

      Yeah having skinning be the main focus now that everything is in a good state gameplay wise is the best direction imo

      @@kaly_osu the ui (and by extension the skinning) is what makes a lot of people stay on stable.
      Being able to customize everything is one of the best aspect of osu and lazer skinning is currently really lacking (nothing outside gameplay is really customizable outside adding overlay on song select)
      (Also please refrain judging people like that :) skinning doesn't only mean adding anime référence to osu )

    Get the sv2 rulings for mods (if sv2 enabled NF doesnt reduce score, etc, obv this would be unranked etc) - Doesnt have to be called SV2, maybe competitive or tournament?.
    Get MP commands in there to make refereeing possible (such as making tournament lobbies so u dont need to rely on passwords, start commands, map and mod commands timer commands etc etc, just all of them!

      They said that they didn't want to implement commands but rather make a full ui (for example in the browser) that does that
      Mods multiplier can be mostly solved by having raw score be shown instead of score multiplief by the mods
      Streaming is already kinda available it just need refining iirc

      Imo we dont need tournament playes being unrankable, possibility to giving pp in matches will reduce derankers for some part. Imo we need to just making sure F scores would be counted on mp matches instead

    ranked elo matchmaking with seasonal mappool changes would be so good and i saw an above comment mentioning star rating brackets to seperate groups of players
    the competition side of this game is so good but lots of people are barred from experiencing it due to the insane time dedication. a ranked queue allowing players to enjoy this style of play at anytime would be so good

      I love the idea that each 'season' could have it's own ranked map picks, possibly a different set of songs per rank. Your seasonal ranking can be based on the combined performance on those chosen maps. People can choose to play solo or against other players, so long as they play the correct maps. Perhaps when you play solo your ranking is only updated at the end of the season, but when you play against other players it's updated at the end of each match to incentivize player interaction

      I love this seasonal map idea. As a mania player, it would be really fun to have a couple maps from each skillset (for example speed, tech, stamina, chordjack, ln, hybrid, or even use more specific terms like speedjacks and hybridjumpstream) and compete in them for a ranking in each type and also an overall ranking.
      The best part of this would be to see if you reach can reach a new "title" like how a good player may get to champion rank in rocket league, reach all medals in trackmania or rank global in cs. And then your total amount of these ranks earned could be displayed on your profile

      I played something similar to this through a discord bot that is integrated with the game, don't remember what it was called. It was so much fun, the only downside was the lack of players, which lead to kinda long queues and recurrent oponents even in low elo

    I think it would be pretty cool to have a fleshed out built in tutorial on all four game modes so new players can learn the game easier and bring in a larger player base

    I know this may sound weird, but I kind of wish there was a singleplayer campaign in osu! Just so there's a base set of maps that are all "official" especially since we have all of this music from featured artists now. I think it'd be nice.

      This sounds great! Combined with someone's idea of making a tutorial for each mode, you can have several "branches" (for example, a branch with focus on streaming, or on jumps, and before a branch there's a tiny tutorial) that all lead to some set of complex maps

      Total official score leaderboards could get really competitive, if we had just 100 official maps. The current total ranked score leaderboard is only really viable for completionists

      Maybe with a storyline like most other rhythm games does nowadays, but what would be funny is to have characters based of real players (with similar but not exactly the same names) and each one focusing on their respective skillsets.

    Things that are missing from my perspective:
    1. A way to edit a skin's files (either access to the filesystem like in stable or direct access within the in-game skin editor to change the image/sound files of skin elements). This includes changes to settings that normally exist in the skin.ini file. If I want to make a change to my skin's gameplay, I have to export the skin from lazer, unpack the osk, make the edit, repack the osk, then reinport it to lazer, which also usually requires deleting the old skin so a bunch of versions of the same skin don't pile up.
    1.5 (this one is less of something thats "missing" and something that I think would be nice) Lazer added a toggle switch for cursor trail in the settings. Please consider one for showing/hiding follow points as well. I have versions of most of my skins with and without them and it would be nice to save some pc space by having a toggle switch rather than needing two copies of every skin.
    2. Some way to directly compete with other players within the game without outside scheduling, and with some sort of visual impact on your profile. By which I mean some sort of matchmaking system where you can play against another player, and based on your performance you get awarded some sort of rank/number that is visible to you and potentially other players. Something like what elitebotix and osu!matchmaking have tried to do, but obviously in a format supported by the developers and available without need for external websites or discord bots.
    3. Integration of match spectating and refereeing in the existing lazer tournament client, or something similar to current situation with a separate spectator client and an IRC connection to the streaming/overlay client. TEST Open is paving the way for lazer tournaments but without access to tools similar to or better than the current tools for tournaments on stable, the tournament community won't switch to lazer anytime soon.
    4. DT still feels incredibly weird to play. Its hard to put my finger on what it is, but its like the offset needs constant changing, and doesn't even stay consistent over the course of a song. I really want to entirely switch to lazer but as a DT player its just not possible for me to have a good experience playing on lazer just yet.

      1.5 could honestly be handled by 1 with a nice enough skin editor, which ideally is what lazer will have. just open the editor change the trail to a blank one then save and exit.

    I'm seconding Cup of the Day from Trackmania, ranked section has been a really awkward way to find maps for a while now and having a daily showcase and knockout format to compete in would be super fun and make for good content.

    I think it would be kinda neat to have a "pattern library" sort of thing for the editor. somewhere where you can save patterns that you want to reuse later without having to search through the map to copy paste it. This would be particularly good for gimmicky maps with alot of repeating patterns, but I also think mappers with a more general style could also benefit from this.
    Also if possible it would be cool to see olibomby's mapping tools implemented into the base game, maybe under an advanced mapping mode or something.

    i have a couple of small QoL suggestions for multiplayer lobbies
    - vote skip intro being implemented again would be helpful; in lobbies i play, auto-skip isn't always useful so having the 'hit space to vote skip' option would mean we could skip long intros but not shorter ones (maybe as a setting like auto-skip already is)
    - similarly, a vote restart in would be helpful. say someone or multiple people in a lobby are having a bad run, having a setting to have either a majority or unanimous vote to restart a song would be helpful
    - removing song queue limits for non-hosts would also be nice as a setting. i find myself swapping host back and forth with other players so that we can all queue more than 3 songs at once, so either setting a custom limit or no limit could definitely help with this.
    - being able to auto-calibrate delay at the end of a song while playing in multi would be cool too. at the minute if i play a song and the delay is off, i have to leave the match and go into single player to be able to adjust the delay of a song, so being able to click an auto-calibrate button once the song ends would mean i or my friends don't have to leave and rejoin the lobby to calibrate the delay, which makes the whole multiplayer process much more seamless
    lazer is so much fun though and i love so many features of it, these are just things that have been discussed since moving to lazer that could make playing multiplayer games even more enjoyable!

      another addition to this list would be a version of autostart that automatically starts after a certain amount of time after all players have clicked ready (this may already be a feature bit I haven't found it yet)

    3:05 this would be so incredibly helpful, especially as a mania player, its really helpful to know when a score has been set with pausing or without pausing so you can more accurately gauge how difficult the play was to pull off, especially on intense stamina maps like ade maines gengaozo or like any loved dan course (even tho pausing is allowed inbetween breaks on the 7k ones)

      It just makes pausing easier but I don't really think that's a good thing, those stamina maps are meant to be hard because it's an endurance challenge

    I really feel like there should be more player and mapper interactions. Small stuff like adding a "like" button for maps. No dislike, because a plain dislike is basically useless, while a "plain like" can really help with engagement for mappers and show potential players that others liked the map (hearting doesn't work because you can only heart 100 maps or something without supporter, I ran out of hearts years ago lmao). Other than that, stuff like map genres (tech, stream, jumps, full flavour, etc) would be nice. Then that could lead to something like flavoured lobbies here people pick the maps genres based on a filter (like lets say,

    I am not sure how many people would use a feature like this, but I would love being able to select beatmap packs to download in-game and subscribe to beatmap pack categories. A: many do not know they exist, and they are great sources of quality tracks for those who don't play multi 24/7, and B: it is annoying to have to manually download and install ten of them whenever I remember to (and guestimate around what the last one I downloaded was).

    I'm well aware this is going to get absolutely buried, but I remember at some point seeing concepts for variable map settings (CS, AR, etc) for maps, and to me I feel like that could pretty much reform gameplay on lazar in regards to standard and catch, and actually lead people to switch on their own accord with all of the new mapping possibilities that could be created. The way that this is done would matter heavily, would likely require the introduction of a new mod/setting for the classic mod to allow for consistency between lazar and stable, as I doubt any changes are coming to stable of this scale, and may require a rework to pp to account for the resulting new possibilities in map reading.

    osu! typing needs to be a thing. there's already something called typing-tube, but it's nowhere near as polished as osu! in terms of ranking, score, etc. typing along to songs is something so many people do and i think it would attract a great deal of new players (the entire typing community, probably).

      i already talked to ppy about it, though, and he doesn't really want it in osu! as it's not close enough to a "rhythm game" for him. which is fair.

    My personal top priorities for lazer:
    - pp for rate changes. This will probably get a lot more people to switch to lazer.
    - Improve skinning. The framework for editing skins in game is good but limited, it needs to get to the point where you can add skin elements and edit skin.ini without going through the whole export-unpack-repack-import process. Also, song select skinning
    - This is more of a personal gripe, but more consideration needs to be given to classic leaderboards. The 0.96x or whatever multiplier to classic scores makes it so the top of the leaderboard is just the best lazer scores, not the all time best scores. I get not wanting to encourage people to play classic mod or stable to ignore slideracc, but the way it is now is highly flawed.

    My dream inclusion for this game is a competitive versus queue with some kind of elo rating.
    I envision a system that would allow players to queue into a match where they get to click to ban and pick maps using an in-game interface. The mappools for the matches could be auto-generated, picked from a curated list, or use a pool of the week system. It would also be really cool to have this system for ranked matches to be able to be used for tournaments, with some kind of custom match thing. They could even let badged tournament matches count for your elo rating.
    Additionally, adding an in-game way to pick/ban, view mappools, automate timers, and all the other things that come with running an osu! match would circumvent the current need for mp commands for lazer tournaments. There is so much that can be done with this idea that what I've laid out here too. This game has so much potential for competitive play and I really think a ranked system like this would be massive for the game in many ways.

    Map packs are kinda ignored by the majority of players (myself included). I think it would be cool to see more being done with it, aside from the few medals some packs have. For example, maybe have a statistic on your profile that shows the amount you have completed.
    Another thing that'd be cool is the ability to search/filter packs. So for example filter mappacks based on time period, search based on the name of the pack, or a song that's in it. Filter on completion status maybe. Basically just beatmap search but for mappacks I guess.
    Aside from that, something about mappacks that has bugged me for a long time, is that you can't see if you have completed it or not without clicking on it, so I'd like to see that changed.
    I think reworking mappacks and featuring them more might help garner interest for newer players as well, as most people that just started have no idea about pp or rankings, which is the main motivator for most players.

    1) Having a way to share collections with others would be nice. Simply being able to maybe right-click on a collection in the Manage Collections and clicking "Export". It could export all the maps in the collection or simply save their ids and the game would download all the maps on import. Maybe allow both with a setting.
    Ideally you would upload it as well and have it shown somewhere on your page.
    Basically something simillar to osu!Collector but mostly for lazer and official
    2) More export options in general would be good. RIght now If you want to move to another device but save your maps, skins, etc, you need to copy the whole folder basically. But what if you only want ot save skins only? Or only collections? You could do that in stable, but not quite in lazer currently. Having a button for exporting each type of data in the Maintainance part of settings, for example, would be greatly appreciated

    I really want to see collaboration of the editor in lazer, something like osu!cad would be like the grand boss level thing, real time multiple people editing a map together, would be great for modding or making new maps in general. Even just mapper spectating would be huge. Mod multipliers being fixed and improved from their current state would be great. For example 8 miss HDDT scores beating NM FC's scores in modes like CtB is awful. Also classic HDDT (in CtB) is worth 1.166x in lazer, but HDDTCL in lazer is worth 1.1236x, we should probably match these to 1.1666x for modes like CtB, Taiko, and Mania where there are no (real) gameplay differences between the modes. Also why is HR still worth more than DT in CtB? This change didn't make sense years ago and it's even worse now. Also please can I have catmull slider type back in the editor🥺

    A small addition that would be nice: When you select a beatmap in the song select, all other difficulties from that mapset will also stand out, making it easy to find maps from the same song/mapset. Lazer currently doesn't have this yet, so this would be a nice addition :>
    Edit (my comment before this one seems to have been deleted): The primary change I want to see in Lazer is the addition of early/late 100 hitmarkers, so that you don't have to take your eyes off of your flow if you can't tell if you're late or early. It's already been proposed by zachllogan years ago and I think it's time it should be added to lazer

    Just a few things I wanted to have in lazer ever since I started playing it 4 months ago:
    -Most importantly, add another layer in the gameplay skin editor, which always shows, even if HUD is turned off. This is mainly so that its possible to see the ur bar/key overlay without deleting all other elements in the HUD (similar to how its possible in stable)
    -Show average/Max spin speed at the end of the play, similarly to stable. In the end it wont make too big of a difference but its a fun stat
    -If a map for example freedom dive is not a natural number of BPM (222,22) it wont show when searching for bpm=222. Make the game round for all of these stats to the nearest whole number, so that its easier to search certain songs
    -add a possibility for when playing with NF on the result screen that shows if you would have failed if you had played the map NM
    -When adding a map to collections, dont close the collections window instantly, otherwise it can be pretty annoying to add a single map to multiple collections
    -When sorting by artists, the same songs usually arent next to each other, that could be fixed
    -Mod suggestion: Similar to how you can select every part of the map in map editor and then scale it from the playfield center, it would be cool to have this aside from having to open the map in editor (basically just as a shortcut like Difficulty Adjust is too). With that it would be possible to do fully stacked maps like Ekoro did with Sputnik-3, or spacing jumps out more (the mod shouldnt be ranked or anything, its just for fun)
    Hope this comment doesnt get lost in the flood of other comments. That said, thanks for caring so much about the game, I literally couldnt imagine a better developer :)

    have been maining lazer since started playing again recently and had some thoughts that i’ll prob keep returning to edit this once i remember
    (not necessarily the innovative crazy idea stuff like was mentioned but just some things i think would be nice)
    mod pp:
    -ht/dt adjustments have been mentioned and ofc they would be rly cool to have but understandably is probably a whole different beast for balancing
    - one that i would love to see would be for mirror to be able to give pp for standard since it is available for mania, being able to play a map in four orientations is such a blessing for mindblock and i was really disappointed it didnt give pp. ik it does alter the star ratings of [some] maps for whatever reason and that could mean extra work for balancing but honestly if people wanna do it and get pp for it theyre just gonna do the forbidden monitor method anyway so
    better collection management options:
    - something like adding tags or a subfolder-like system so i can actually organise these damn things without using a million prefixes to order them in groups that just make it all look like hieroglyphs
    - a way to add a map to multiple collections at once, its a bother to go through the menus multiple times
    editor:
    - have only started mapping recently and started in lazer and tbh its been a much nicer streamline for the learning experience than stable but god damn sliders gotta be properly hitsoundable
    - also some stuff like making sliders that change velocity as they go i don’t think are possible? can’t remember if maps that do this are rankable or not so might not be priority but it is cool to see them when they are used and would be a pain for mappers to have to go back to stable for it
    - some of the features that third party programs like mapping tools and timing analyzer being native would be cool too. stuff like saving patterns to a library rather than having to scroll all the way through the timeline to copy paste something (ik this is skill diff and experienced mappers prob wouldn’t even use some of these but would be a good feature for people picking it up for the first time)
    UI elements:
    - some more options / customizablility for the playfield border UI would be great. have found that the current size (at least at my window scaling) overlaps with some objects and i ended up just pulling the border from a skin element and scaling it myself
    - would also be a cool idea if there was a way to fill in the playfield with just a black square so the outside could have the map background, not a huge deal is just an aesthetic ive seen some skins emulate and liked so would be cool since theres no way to actually add UI elements that appear underneath objects (for fair reason ik)

      accelerating sliders (or just general sv changes during sliders, such as the ones you can emulate using mapping tools) are currently unrankable due to readability issues (i think?). maybe having some sort of indicator for eventual acceleration/declaration on slider bodies (such as a color shift using gradients maybe?) could make this work but it looks to me like implementing something like that would be extremely complicated, so i don't really see these being implemented in the near future.

    Honestly I think osu! battle royale added to multiplayer would be pretty sick. A random mod would be pretty fun too, as in you could add the ability to choose which mods it could pick from just in case it's a multiplayer lobby. Some mods are harder than others and it wouldn't be fair.

For example in Tetris 100 you send grey block to other players and if you manage to clear those fast enough you can bounce back.

    the thing that would make lazer worthwhile for me is ultra low latency audio on windows, whether that be using asio or wasapi exclusive mode or something of the sort. playing osu on linux was the best experience i had because of how close my hitsounds could be to my taps but having to constantly switcb between windows and linux when i wanted to play a different game became too tiring. while on the topic of audio, being able to choose separate audio devices for music, effect, and master could be a huge help for streamers that may want to nuke the vod audio but keep hitsounds so that not everything is gone

      btw if you are using an asio compatible audio device latency to the game should already be quite low as long as you have your device setting in your audio drivers set up correctly. Try using a buffer size around 64 samples instead of the normal default. Even when the device isn't being used in asio mode that buffer still affects audio latency.

      @@fleuph6508 the application has to be the one to support asio, as the interface has to communicate to the application via the asio drivers, osu lazer currently doesn't support asio so just having an interface is not enough. usually when you can hear desktop audio with an asio interface it's because the interface also has wdm drivers which doesn't use asio at all

    i want some sort of Osu! Competitive. Basically just an officially supported elitebotix if you know what that is. The jist is; you queue up for a 1v1, 2v2 , or 4v4 (doesn't have to be these I'm sure different team sizes work fine), once you find a player (or team) around the same rating as you, you get thrown into a multiplayer lobby. And than the bot cycles through random tournament maps around your rating level until a team gets to 4 points.
    In elitebotix, rating is based off of your performance and only your preformence, but I think it'd be funnier if there was a factor for if you won/lost and by how much. (again also not required)

    Before ranking any new mods, I highly recommend consulting the pp committee first. There are some mods like DA that should def not be ranked in the current state of pp, and they already have plans to handle them better (for DA's case, it'd be stuff like stat acc).

    I play a little bit of mania, and one thing that gets complained about is how the leaderboards were changed/broken.
    The way million point scores get buried by much worse games due to the 0.96x multiplier sucks, and although I kinda like how accuracy takes perfect/great ratio into account, the change in the definition of SS that this causes is annoying. it's useful information that isn't obvious anymore, and the bar for SS feels way higher than in the other default modes. also it makes the description for the perfect mod "SS or quit" inconsistent with what it actually does lol.
    in any case, lazer is very cool, can't wait to see what comes next, especially if it's ranked rate adjust plz rank rate adjust ty peppy

    I think all lazer needs right now is to make editor look and feel almost similar to standard without much design changes, since a lot of mappers are still complaining about the editor being uncomfortable in some ways.
    The editor just feels "too big" and the actual mapping window feels "too small", if that's makes any sense.

    My main gripe with lazer is it's social incompleteness, and there are a lot of other "buts"
    • I can set a score on lazer! BUT It'll not appear to stable players.
    • I can chat and be online on lazer! BUT I'll not appear online* to other users, nor show what I'm playing or mapping (F9)
    • I can skin on lazer! BUT only add overlay images and legacy style gameplay pngs.
    I think it needs to at least match stable on community to begin going forward.
    * You do appear online, but it's not reliable at all, like stable's F9 design.

    i want to be able to have different colored hit notifications dependent on whether its late or early e.g a late 100 would be blue instead of green.
    this would make it way easier to tell what im doing wrong mid play, instead of having to move my eyes down i can just use my peripheral vison to detect the color.
    i think a rising star leaderboard could be cool, to see up and coming players from your reigon/globally. could be good to catch cheaters/multi accounts aswell.
    the ability to edit hit animation speed/size and the ability to make your cursor trail smooth and to vary the length of it. both of which are already doable, just very janky...

    Crazy Idea, you asked, I deliver!
    ### Ranked Queue ###
    - Similar to tournaments, you play maps against an opponent until you win a certain amount.
    - Winning and losing provides an elo rating.
    - Rotating map selections, including maps with forced mods, free mod choices, showcasing old and new mods alike? etc.
    - There are multiple map selections for different elo brackets, say in a silver bracket, maps will be easier than in a platinum bracket.
    - Leaderboards for the best competitors.
    - Potentially build in tournaments on weekends as events? With qualifier phases? For certain elo brackets or open to everyone? Note: Similar to rocket league? Thing is with this, that a rocket league match is 5 minutes and a match here would be between 30 and 60 minutes, so I'm not sure how feasible it is.
    This would require manual input for the map selections, unless they are selected randomly.
    Random selection would be fine, however manual selection enables choosing maps deliberately to test skillsets within the game. Not needed, but would make it more varied and interesting as well as fair.
    Random selection could work if it randomly chooses maps from pre-set pools of maps, say 100 different stream maps, and one is chosen.

    mania players have to type key=4 or key=7 every time they enter song select. I would like a feature that will filter which keymodes are shown, that will remain enabled and is easy to change.

    Most of them are minor change that can enhance player experience but here the few idea i have :
    - a random map category (i pretty often start playing the same few map because of those classification or just keep hitting that random button which can be anoying in the long run)
    - a "map selection/recommendation for you" based on what you typically play (song wise or type of map wise) to find new map (or any way to make people find new GOOD map easily)
    - showing "map bpm" with the song bpm (for exemple the big black which is written at 360 bpm but gameplay wise it's 180 bpm)
    - a practice things for exemple it can be pretty much like on adofai where you can play a map from x time to y time while changing speed percentage
    - map type classification (like we already all do by playing the map and recognise it but pre-written to help new player), can also add category for those instead of us having to make collection, it can also help us finding new map. It can be automatically added and to prevent false positive also asked to the mapper when posting the map
    - not my case but some people like to play rx or at. Making these mod with health and having their own ranking system can be cool (since i know their is some alt server that do it)
    i'll keep editing with new idea if i found some

    a guide or introduction to the game, covering the basics that most people would think are obvious then looking at the skills you need to play / tips and tricks to play better, it could mention terms used and anything else that's relevant or even stuff that's just fun to know. most ppl wouldn't want a long video series or anything but something that follows reels/shorts format giving lots of information briefly and quickly so new players feel like they have an understanding and foundation to go off of. i downloaded the game 3 days ago and I think this would be quite nice, still don't understand much tbh

    4. More FAs, I know this isn't directly related to lazer but getting more FAs should always be a high priority just in case the worse happens
    5. More guidance for newer players like making official osu tutorials for best settings, how to download maps, how to get skins, how to join and create multi etc. and encouraging people to watch them in the osu app
    6. More editor freedom like changing cs, od, ar etc in the middle of the map and other cool stuff for customizability
    My priority list of things I would want added. Actually took a lot of thought to make this because I really love lazer right now and think it's super awesome. Seriously took me some time to think of creative ideas to add to it

    Introducing weekly rankings for beatmap scores could bring an exciting new dynamic to the game. By competing
    against other players within a set weekly time frame. It wold introduce more diversity in the beatmaps that are played.

    1. file system for managing skins and beatmaps just like we had on stable, the hash thing is cool and all but unuseable for us end users like if i want to change something in the skin.ini i don't want to need to export skin, make change and then having to reimport it again
    2. opening up the mod selection should not auto focus on the search bar so that you can instantly use hotkeys to select your mods
    3. fix hotkeys in the lazer editor right now they force an ansi layout and also make hotkeys consistent to stable hotkeys (e.g ctrl+r is rotate on lazer but that's ctrl+shift+r on stable)
    4. readd the shortcut/drop down menu to jump to a beatmap's page
    5. the timeline on lazer is too crowded with information, stable's timeline was much cleaner and clearer to see all the essentials especially the ticks are more visible
    6. readd editor settings in the settings menu

    I really collections to be expanded upon in lazer, i want to be able to make the collection folders in lazer with a simply gui, add maps to it and I want to make only Collections show up in the beatmap list, like sort by collections. And an option to just make maps from a single collection show up inthe beatmap list
    so i dont have to go all the way back each time and open a collection and then select a map and allat

    small change but for the event banners that show at the bottom of the main menu, i think it would be better for them to stretch across the whole screen (or at least most of it) and the other banners can "slide" in instead of just disappearing and reappearing

    This might not be the best place to put this idea but:
    What if you implemented single player elo by giving each map and player an elo? When a map is played, it's elo and the player's are both updated using the score of the play (max score being a win in the equation, 0 score being a complete loss). The elo math works with fractional values so the exact score can be used and the math *should* check out. Before each map is ranked, it's elo will be affected by players who play it, but players won't gain or lose elo, so the elo of the map represents a general skill level that the map requires on average. Then once the map is ranked, players can play the map to gain or lose elo, also affecting the map's elo. A natural side effect of this system is that farming the same map over and over again will suffer from diminishing returns, which is ideal.
    I've thought about making a ranking system like this myself but the osu!api scares me. There might be some kinks to work out in the system of course but I think the idea has potential. If any devs are reading this, please let me know what you think.

      what about a system like trackmania SP which would be something like "value = (total number of plays on the leaderboard) / (your position in the rankings)" which makes a first place on a map with 14 plays worth 14 points, but a top 5 on a map with a million plays worth 200k

      @@Remyria That is a cool system, but it doesn't inherently factor in things like ties, and the actual difficulty of a map. Like for example, a top play on The Big Black is much more impressive than a top play on some easy diff anime opening, even if the anime opening has more players. An osu scoring system also needs to factor in how multiple plays will combine together. Which pp already does nicely, but elo inherently does automatically

    ELO in multilayer would be pretty cool, gain points for winning, top 3, top 5, etc. Bonus points for if you won with a map in your recommended star rating, more bonus points for if you passed a map that is higher than your recommended star rating, etc. Smaller elo points rewards for those who say join a 4-5* map pool lobby, but are like 4/5 digit, almost 'smurfing' wins. Maybe even bonus points for tournament participation/top 3/win.
    All in all, this would be great for the multiplayer scene, as multiplayer in itself could even hold a separate rank to pp. Whilst pp is the foundation of ranking it osu, in most cases, it just shows who has played more/farmed more. Multiplayer, you get the 1 chance to do well at the map you're playing where-as if you were playing for pp, you can retry as much as you like until you achieve the score you would like.

    It would be awesome to have a practice mode similare to the one in “a dance of fire and ice” where you can select part of a song and speed and play that section over and over again

    expanding the skinning section would definitely help, there's plenty of us interested in it I'd say and you could certainly see that back in the early days of osu. As for competition, as people have said, taking inspiration from trackmania would work well, maybe have it follow the current format in tournaments explaining what the map(s) focus on skill wise?

    a bit out there, but some tool/tool support for syncing content between machines could be helpful. skins, beatmaps, collections, settings and the like. it doesn't look like an easy feature but I think it would be helpful considering that lazer's files are hashed

    - The ability to skin everything ( as on stable )
    - The ability to use a "classic mode" for mods selection, the current one is just full of mods i think we mostly don't use on a regular basis.
    And the one i wish the most:
    - Make the retry button as quick as stable is ( lazer just takes more time for some reason )

      @@realsnezki do you play osu pc on 60fps? come on now, osu!droid (which run on some very ancient engine) can pull full refresh rate even on very modest soc, i got 165fps without my phone breaking a sweat, meanwhile lazer struggle to keep 120fps and my phone run hotter than playing bloody genshin impact, android performance is a mess right now and no one bother to fix it

      It is playable, the issue is the OG game mode is not suitable for mobile gaming. Can't play harder levels without external input devices attached. Would like to see Judgement Line system implemented like in Cytus and Phygros.

    A few weeks ago I participated in NeverNever's Crown playlist, which was a lot of fun! It rewarded the player at the top of the leaderboard each week with supporter. Something similar to that idea for seasonal leaderboards would be super cool, even without the supporter reward - badges are great. In general, having seasonal leaderboards would consistently give me something to work towards, especially when it's with a specific set of maps that I can spend time grinding out good scores on. It gives me a bit of motivation to focus on something specific instead of just mindlessly playing maps now that my farming arc is over.

    NEED:
    - PP for rate adjust
    - Hitsound volume normalization (or ignore beatmap hitsound volume)
    - Grouping maps similar to stable (mostly for rank achieved) in song select.
    Other ideas:
    - Generating collections from filters of maps
    - Generating collections and search song select with filters of previously set scores
    - Mod/Mod combo filtered rankings(not map specific) similar to what used to exist on osu!chan
    - Setting a hotkey to a specific skin
    - Parse all of my scores locally like export them to a csv or similar
    - Simulate your friends ranking (or any leaderboard) as if it were a multi lobby.
    - A less 'hacky' version of "instafade" skins (combo colors/etc)

    I'd really like to see categories in the maps, sometimes i want to play jumps or streams and with how many maps are out there it may need the help of the overall comunity...maybe something like a tag whenever someone uploads a map? Anyways, maybe that also could mean new challenge pack maps with different palystyles and medals...maybe even a funtion on the client that let you see diferent categories like the one that let you display maps by difficulty...i know that if you search by ar=something you can get something like that but i'd like to see it more clear and intituive for a more casual audience

    As an osu enjoyer, I'd say we maybe need a pause menu customization, or even more customization on the select menu too (like on stable version with skins basically), and also make an option to start / restart maps instantly (on stable we can hit escape and instantly restart, on lazer I feel like it takes a lot of time, so when we try to restart a map it's a bit annoying, this is one of the only reasons I don't play on lazer version sadly)
    But overall lazer is really good and it's improving in a really good way :)

    I would love to see the ability to create beatmap packs and be able to lock songs/difficulties in the pack behind certain clear/score requirements. It would allow for another form of player progression in the game outside of getting more pp by motivating players to unlock more songs and to increase their skills to unlock new difficulties. (Bonus points if you can also allow for triggered cutscenes/videos to be played once unlock requirements are met.)

    I would love to see a full combo animation when we finish playing a map with 0 miss before the results screen shows.
    Also a dropdown menu in the skin editor > score counter (and maybe combos counter too) where you can chose animations for them, like an odometer animation for example.
