Enjoyed seeing the shop and working at Rocket Chassis. Man ! they have a lot of experience there, these guys know their business. I've missed you regular vids Ryan/Amber and looking forward to getting back on track soon . Cheers guys from down under.
That was a very interesting video I'm glad you took us along. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the winners circle dancing a jig. 😁🏁 Good Luck Ryan and Team.
Really good content!.. That’s why I love Baker.. Owner of an extremely successful business and he’s out in the shop hands on bending body panels.. Such a good guy!..
It was awesome of Rocket to let you do some video. Actually I think it’s smart of you to send your car in yearly to make sure it’s the way the chassis is designed. For a weekly racer like yourself this prolongs the life of the chassis, witch is one of the largest expenses outside of the engine. Yes the consumables “body parts, wheels, tires, and fuel” is costly but a smart racer can manage those costs it’s those big hits that hurt
I must have missed something, didn’t know the ol girl was bent, glad she’s fixed. Man I can’t believe how much your son has grown in just a couple months. 🤙
And the jig he has to put the nose together I got one just like it and jigs for other body panels as well for late models and modifieds and can do a whole body in two days from start to finish ready to hit the track. But it's crazy to watch them reclip a car it takes them a few hours and take me 2 days to put a new clip on lol crazy how streamlined they have made this place for how small it is but big for race car chassis shop and super busy I would love to work here. Mr Scott perkey is a legend. He has built hundreds and a few thousand championship winning cars that has won huge races. But the best thing is that the car is very safe they absorb impact very well the way they designed them
Enjoyed the video Ryan. First thing Steve & Mark run a first class business at Rocket Chassis. It’s good to show so many fans how these cars are built. Made many trips to Rocket in the past for an old employer D&J White Ent. (Don & Judy White) and they even offered to work on one of my cars which I did not buy from them (Bullet chassis [1991]). Hard to tell how many racers they have helped along the way. BTW Steve Baker was a wheelman in his day, always amazed at good he was for no more than he raced.
Awesome video it's great to see all that. As a former auto body man before I changed careers to a CNC machinist I understand the concept of the jig to make sure everything is in the correct position.
I used to build a few race cars at Kar House Mike Duvall , Larry Moore drove them and a few our others . It was a lot of work , i don't do it any more . Bobby Kay he just sells parts and builds radiators now and sheet metal .
Ryan, when you get it back home you need to build a rough metal framework that touches key points so you can check for straightness throughout the year.
Great video Ryan. Rocket seems like a great group of guys and they are really cranking right now getting their drivers ready for the upcoming season. I guess you had the front end of your car all twisted up to need all of that work?
Someone gave me a Rocket a few years back as part of the labor for building them a asphalt super late model to run at Hickory and Bowman Gray but it was too twisted up so I advertised it for four hundred and it wasn't in the yard too much longer after that, and I still have the rear lying out there. Great video by the way!
I call rocket the speed factory where chpipn racecars are built. I have built a few of my own latemodel chassis that has won huge super late model races on dirt but no funding to become a big chassis builder
Hey Ryan , Amber big fan, but for us grandstand guys that don't really know how everything is put together on a late model what was all the cutting and replacing? I understand things get bent and worn out, but love the videos ,and keeping your fans involved 👍
Thought they used reversed RF lower. It's funny how the camera makes the main tubing look so large. Looks like 2" or a bit larger. Was a little surprised he welded each junction fully before moving to another. Guess they don't worry so much about warpage or tubing moving around now.
@@JJ-1-1 I've been out of the loop since mid 90s. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time... actually moved from WV to NC in 1996. Work schedule took me out of the racing thing.
Speaking to the order of welds and the amount of heat they use and the amount of warpage and draw that happens when they build cars…And yes I have seen there work up close .
I'm pretty sure Mr. Purkey is wrong about Rick eckert being the first person to have a rocket chassis or rocket clip I'm pretty sure that belongs to a man by the name Tim "the hit man" Hitt he drove the rocket house car before they were even a company
Wish you had described what was bent on front clip and why. Would’ve like to have seen how they check tolerances on the jig and decide what to replace. Otherwise, ain’t nothing better than watching race car stuff
Ryan, as of late, other races have talked about the tire price increase in their video's & one racer says he may not race at all or jus maybe a start here & there this year till tire prices come back down. He said his limit was $200 a tire considering you almost need a new set weekly for the main. Do you think it's gonna be feasible for you to race with tires costing $210 or more apiece every week? I do realize you own your own business but is it still worth it to try to go race weekly knowing most winnings you earn won't cover much in the way of what you spent on the car, parts & tires?
@@RyanMissler look forward to seeing the ol 50 up front more consistently. I can't imagine how you guys felt, I was getting frustrated. Great race one week then not so great the next.
You gotta put the car on a jig every few seasons just to get it back straight all those bumps and times you hit someone hard but not hard enough take a tole and ppl wonder why two years later their car isn't right
@@RyanMissler Makes sense. It's been a while since we clipped one. Figured labor would be about the same but with the price of metal I can see a pretty good price difference.

Thank you Frank
Nice to get a live tour of the shop.
Great video. Good to see you back.
5865 chassis. That’s amazing!
Great video Missler!
How dang cool was that?! Awesome!
Reminds me of the time I spent working with DLMHaul of Famer Wayne Brooks working out of Larry Shaw race cars. It's been a long time. 24 years ago
I enjoy the way you do these videos and show the background of what it takes to make a great race car.
Welcome back!!
Good too see you back !!! GO TEAM MISSLER !!!!!! 🙂
Enjoyed seeing the shop
That is a busy place. Very cool to see how it is all done. Thank you for sharing. Was a great video.

Thanks for a great video. It was good to see behind the scenes of what actually goes on. Thanks for taking us along.
Very interesting video I personally like insite of behind the scenes that the regular guy wouldn't see

Enjoyed the video. Think of all the technology inside that building! Neat to see Heather and Dennis in the background working. Good luck this season.
Great video thanks for sharing 👍

Awesome video Ryan! Thanks. What a great shop to see. They make it look easy!🏁
Thanks Al!
Just watched. That was a great video. The welder on the jig was awesome. Talented for sure.
Man it’s great to see and hear from you guys. Can’t wait for the season to get started. You all take care and stay safe.
Thank you John. You too!

Great video and content Ryan! Looking forward to seeing you in Victory Lane!!🏁🏁🔥🔥
THAT WAS GREAT RYAN ENJOYED WATCHING THAT THX
I passed y’all on the interstate going to work. I wondered who y’all were then you popped up on my page. Pretty cool. Great video!
Like going to Disney for a dirt late model geek like myself.
That was pretty cool

Ahhh a fellow machinist! Hello there
Hello!!
Fantastic episode, loved it!
Hey that’s Scotty’s theme music!! Lol
Pretty cool to see the behind the scenes stuff. Thanks Ryan.
Very cool... and interesting the way they do things..speed weeks are coming up...better get busy
Best of good fortune this year, hope to see you around some of the pit areas this season.
Quality content as ever... Good Luck with the freshened up car !
great content thanks for posting.
So was this just an update on the chassis? or were you bent and to get it right you had to redo the front?
She was tweaked a bit.
I used to build a few race cars at Kar House Mike Duvall , Larry Moore drove them and a few our others . It was a lot of work , i don't do it any more . Bobby Kay he just sells parts and builds radiators now and sheet metal .

Thomas looks like he’s done that a time or too , Eldora speedway ready 2022
Thomas was speedy!

Yes sir!!
Good video Ryan !!!!!!!!!!
Very nice cars in the shop
Ryan should be there today lol
Soon going to have to get a new center section Ryan with all these new up dates every year
Nah. This car will last forever. Lol
U need to more of those type video on off season now get to work
Great video! Love the shop work!

Was that all updates or was your car that bent?....pretty cool shop...busy!
Bent a touch
Rocket chassis good stuff

Bent some stuff...at Eldora. Car was still fast after that.
Nice video… I went to high school with b sheps mom and dad… been friends for years ….. go Brandon 👍🏻
Enjoyed your video. My buddy has A Barry Wright.
Loved it
Man long time no see my friend!! Was it repairs or updates?
Repairs
Awesome video
Love it
Going to Rocket Chassis = Insta Click
So was this a 2022 update or was something bent on your chassis??
Great video
Dang...was hoping you were getting the XR1 upgrade

Capital does a worse job than that

I love Rocket chassis but you should see the new BAG1 by GRT race cars.
I thought I saw Heather in the back working on erbs car

I don’t think that’s your business
Hey Casey, we will still race and complain about costs rising. But you are seeing a slow demise of weekly racers. Nature of the beast I'm afraid.
Was this an update or a wreck fix
I went to high school with Brent lol.
What was wrong with the car? Updates or bent? You just had it at rocket last year, or two. Damn covid got messed up

Fixed my bent stuff
As much as he cut off why not just clip it at that point?
If he cuts it all off then I spend more money. I don't like spending more money if I don't have to. Lol. Other parts were straight.

I know you're not supposed to look when someone is welding. Even on UA-cam that light bothers me
Lots of video but not much explanation as to what they are doing.
