      The awning is interesting. Do you know of a version suitable for 🇬🇧weather? One where you pull it out from the roof of your car and it bathes everything underneath in heat and light, like you get from that yellow round thing we very rarely see in the sky? Thanks.
      P..S. If the answer’s no, all’s not lost - we can use the awning to keep the rain off us rather than the sun.

      I imagine that would introduce a lot of light pollution to the backcountry. For me camping is about excaping comfort and keeping things easy. I prefer a headlamp and being in the dark over elumination the whole camp ground.

    For me, watching a movie is the opposite of being in the moment in wilderness. I love the silence. I've camped in remote desert locations in the winter and I get it about the long periods of darkness. I've brought a laptop to write, but my writing is about where I am and there's no sound beyond the keyboard. It leaves me free to listen to the night sounds, or to take a spontaneous walk under the stars.

      I noticed that last year he made a video about cold weather clothes and at the time it added up to over a thousand dollars and a year later it adds up to 300 dollars. A lot of the items have negative reviews about quality and loose threads. In this video he mentioned the iceco cooler I'm going to look more into it but eühomy electric coolers are under 200 dollar dollars and it is solid it runs multiple days in a full battery and keeps food frozen even when it's only being ran a few hours a day. I want to buy a second one but I'm considering another brand if I can find something that will hold more the iceco looked bigger and sounds better insulated but it will come down to the price. Personally with my experience with it the Eühomy will be hard to beat it's cheaper than most electric coolers and was better than my expectations it's held up with heavy use

    The Frontrunner bins are great, I have 2. But man I hate the latches! They are a tight snap, prone to break and you have to undo 4 of them to get in the bin. I'm in and out of our bins too frequently for that. Really with they made a hinged lid w lighter latches for these. Love the idea behind the sink, but have come to realize over the years that clever engineering usually takes up too much space and power, and water stuff for some reason is one that most overlanders usually over engineer. Gravity works everywhere and there are a lot of ways to get a small collapsable bin under a water tank w a spigot. Adding the drain hose is still a great idea though.

      @@MyLifeOutdoors It's probably because your video player doesn't also transcode. If you don't convert, your HDR content will look washed out on a SDR device. Apparently doodads like Nvidia Shield can do the conversion but I guess the things that can do it are pricey. I assume it's Apple's mindset that tends to be "don't do it if it isn't perfect." They don't want reviewers and customers saying Macs can't play HDR content when it's just people's SDR devices making it look bad.
      I wonder if you could get something like Plex on your Mac and have it transcode to SDR on the fly when going to your projector. Oh, that assumes you were trying to play your own video files and not via iTunes or whatever.

    Hey mate, bit of a recommendation from an Aussie. Get a fridge cage it will make using the storage space so much easier. You can stack around it and on it attach things to the side. Pretty cool and great gear head camping; yet so much stuff to basically do the same thing as if you were to have a tiny camper which is capable of getting into back country. Which I have seen personally. Yes a small camper has a cost 💲 but seeing all your gear has a cost as well. Don’t get me wrong, to each his own style of camping. And not having to hitch a trailer is better for some. Yet not into many contraptions; when I leave my home I want less stuff and a small camper has everything compartmentalize already for me, like a sink, head and water tanks etc…you are very informative and produce a great vlog with interest thank you.

I use an iPad Pro mounted on a tripod and I use a high-quality Bluetooth speaker and have excellent videos and movies to watch that way that are extremely low in power consumption but very high-quality and take up little space in the car. To charge your Li Fe PO batteries you need a SOLAR BLANKET. The very best is Off Grid TREK. I used their 220 watt blanket to power my BLUETTI AC200 MAX battery to run my cooler all day and charge my TWO battery E-CELLS Super Monarch Crown e-mountain bike at the end of a day of hunting antelope in Nevada. OGT now makes a 300 watt solar blanket. Their blankets are made with SUN POWER flexible solar cells, the most efficient made. The OGT blankets are MUCH smaller for the same power than the other solar blanket companies. Plus they are great for extended home power outages. A bit pricey but well worth it.

      You know what? I started in my backyard. Actually, that's not true, I started with a tent in my bedroom. I quickly realized that wasn't enough space so I bought a bigger one. That was ok for power outages in the house but at that point, I wanted to try it outside so I bought a big agnus bunkhouse tent. And that was much roomier but it's hot in the sun and cold at night because it's designed to breathe. I now have a 10 x 10 springbar that I'm happy with. There's no way to know what you're really going to want into you start playing with what works for you. I bought a setpower dual zone fridge freezer combo, I think it's the 35. I then bought a single zone aj 40 and now a single zone aj 50. You see, the single zones have a thinner profile and they're a little taller. I have 1 for frozen and one for cold. That way, I don't have to fight with a cooler. At all. Not even for giggles. Not chasing a cooler is nice to me and I don't have to worry about my kid in it. He can get his drinks were good to go. Why would anyone want to go out in the dessert in the heat and camp there for days ? I could understand if you have some motorbikes or dune buggies. But, otherwise, the allure escapes me. Love the sink! Brilliant !

    The problem with your projector is HDCP. The projector is “old” and it doesn’t meet the HDCP 2.2 standard. They make devices that solve that problem. The ones I used as a stagehand do quite a bit more than just that, so I can’t recommend anything. If you look for a way to deal with HDCP, you will find your solution. Otherwise you would need to upgrade your equipment.

    • @theriffels

      I came here to say this. You just have an HDCP issue. Could even be the HDMI cable you are using doesn't''t support the version.

    The FrontRunner boxes look great. I buy the Plano Sportsman boxes, which I love. Not as heavy duty, but water/dust resistant, big durable latches. Larger ones even have wheels. Are teh front runners worth twice as much for a box? Honest question!

    • @MyLifeOutdoors
      @MyLifeOutdoors  4 місяці тому +1

      When I got my front runner boxes they were only $30 bucks each. Well worth that price. The new “pro” boxes are twice that and I can’t find the original boxes anymore. Which is sad..I’d probably still pay the new price for the stacking abd versatility, but it’s a harder choice to make

    The older wolfpacks were better IMO. The lid design had a lip over the edge whereas the newer does not and utilizes a gasket, in which I have a had a few leaks when raining and stored outside on my roof rack.

    Holy crap that sky light is my camping nightmare! There is little worse that sitting by a campfire or just staring up at the stars and then having your camp neighbor turn on a bright light, big screen tv, sound system, and generator. Why the @#%^@%@% go camping ? Just camp out in your driveway at home! That's the opposite of " connecting with nature". You will literally send nature ( moths, sea turtles, etc) to their death.

    • @MyLifeOutdoors
      @MyLifeOutdoors  4 місяці тому

      I agree it would be terrible if your camp neighbor did this without consideration. We however were miles from anyone. Headphones were used for the movie and I don’t even own a generator. Evenings are long in the winter which was the only reason we brought a movie. Believe me when I say we spent plenty of time enjoying nature.

    So... That light. I have been using a cheap USB RGB+white ring light with tripod for our light for 5+ years.
    Hell I thought about selling something like this then found I was beat by 4 months on an indigogo ---
    Point is: get a ring light for half/ or a quarter the price and have it run Red light so you don't attract bugs in summer and keep your night vision and save some cash for more gas to go just a tad further (20-50 bucks goes a few miles more in an ol' GMC).

      @@MyLifeOutdoors since I sleep in my 4Runner on the right side I’ve run my JP Pro 50 on the rear drivers side with the Toyo built in slide out. It blocks my keyless fob. If I move it forward behind the drivers seat it works about 50/50. So was just wondering. Although occasionally I wish I had a dual zone, I have really loved the JP Pro 50. Especially rolling it to pavilions and group sites. Thanks for answering. Oh, went to the Frontrunner pro pack cause they are water proof and I seemed to snap my fingers with the older style, although I miss the expanded top. Nicely done packing job though.

    If you haven't already heard of/ seen/ already done it, there is a connector that you can wire into your 4Runner that makes it so the 120v outlet in back outputs 400w while you're driving (instead of knocking it down to 100w). Btw- you've ruined the saying "You brought everything but the kitchen sink" because, well... you did bring the kitchen sink.

    • @MyLifeOutdoors
      @MyLifeOutdoors  4 місяці тому +1

      My 4Runner says 400w on the AC switch under the dash. So apparently they started doing that at the factory.
      I thought if titling this video “Everything INCLUDING the Kitchen Sink!” Haha. Thanks for watching

    • @HuskyMike
      @HuskyMike 4 місяці тому +2

      @@MyLifeOutdoors I've got a '23 ORP with the same button. Sit in the car, start it and hit that power button. Both lights light up. Put it reverse/ drive etc. The 400W light goes out. Double check my info, of course, but I believe once you take the 4Runner out of Park, it drops the output to 100v to that back outlet. Not sure why they'd do that (you'd think it'd push more power while it was driving) but Toyota also has the volume up and down going left and right. And the intermittent wipers backwards from any other car I've had (longer interval when set to the narrower section of the icon).
