I am the guy who has been waiting years for this to be created holy shit I just ordered one immediately after watching this! I have a hori octa and I consistently have issues pressing more than one button by accident, and I haven’t been able to find a pad that has a microswitch dpad that also has more than 4 face buttons. I’ve been thinking about how one would be able to mix pad with arcade buttons and this looks like a really good mix! Thanks for making and sharing this video!
I mean this with all respect: voice is sultry, asmr is great, video backdrops and scenery is top notch, and I’m just in love with your videos. You take the time to explain everything most do not, and still somehow keep it clear and concise without making a forever long video. You got a fan in me Neeto. You got a fan in me.
@@boyneeto no, thank you for becoming my new favorite in the FGC. Thank you for making the videos you do. Thank you for being a calm place to come relax after a long day. Thank you for being you.
Your videos are always so clean and they are very pleasant to watch. Great review! Also pws started adding mouse switches in their buttons so it could be nice for people worried about different switch/button types.
I'm primarily a Stick player, but I'm always on the hunt for the mythical "Perfect" Pad controller. The closest I've found is the classic Saturn controller. There are a few flaws, like the top XYZ buttons are both smaller and a different shape than the ABC, however the floating D-Pad is the best I've experienced for Fighters. Since I play Claw-grip, this kinda controller peaks my interest. Hopefully ARKODD improve the design both ergonomic and aesthetically. For me, it would be perfect if it was made a little smaller, less clunky-looking, while comfortably fitting all the 24mm buttons, moving the option/start buttons to the top so they're out of the way, and add a option for a Saturn Float D-pad. If such a thing was available, I would already have it ordered now. Thanks for the video, great work 🙂
Thank you so much for you comment and insight! I agree the search for the “perfect” pad is a daunting one but one day… ARKODD really cooked with this one I’m looking forward to their future iterations for sure!
While I might be a dedicated pad player who doesn't use claw grip, I would argue that at least for me, this is still something I'd love to try in the future. I am starting to develop some (right) thumb pain, so I can't play games for as long as I used to, so I'm learning leverless, but it is an adjustment, as it's often stated. Something like the Padbox is IDEAL; I wouldn't have to use my right thumb as much for attacks, but I still have the D-pad I'm familiar with. I'm also not one to concern myself too much with how buttons feel, so the different sensations aren't an issue for me. However, I'm a bit turned off by the loudness of the D-pad. I prefer that to be more silent, and from what I heard, the Padbox's D-pad is a little on the loud side.
I recommend trying to adopt a claw grip. While it might not always be the case for modern games with lenient input buffering systems, older games that benefit from "drum tapping" or "plinking" tech really can't be done with a use of a single thumb. Also, splitting the load to several fingers than burdening a single thumb helps avoid developing hand issues.
I've been waiting for something like this. I'm the 2nd and 3rd type of player who would get this. Will wait for ergonomic improvements on the grip and shoulder button before getting one 👀 Edit: On second thought, I may not be able to hold off 😂
I grew up with fighting games in arcades, so that's what I'm best at. But a big and loud fightstick just isn't feasible every time of the day, so I also use a Hori fightpad (claw-grip). So this padbox is perfect for me. On top of that, I've been WAITING for something like this to be sold. I've had my eye on 2 other padboxes, like the Vang Propad, and they're just taking too damn long lol. I put my order in and am patiently waiting. I bet I'm gonna love it.
Hope 8bitdo puts something like this out but with the god tier Sega Saturn Dpad. Currently learning leverless but the Dpad on my 8bitdo is so comfy to use I often go back.
They need to bring the price wayyyy down. I’d pick one up if it was 100-120 bucks. But above 200 after shipping for a fully 3D printed controller? I just can’t do it as cool as it looks lol
I think it’s impossible to have it that cheap, brook boards are expensive as well as arcade buttons. The price you mention is maybe the price to build one of these looking at the material. Could be possible if rp2040 and keyboard switches are used. That would be nice!
So this is priced very well as 3d printing it yourself and buying all the parts brings it to well over 240 USD plus shipping and tax. Granted the Brook PCB is the pricey part (75 USD) and isn't even out yet, but when it does it also supports dual analog sticks as well for PS5 , X/S and PC.
I agree with like 99% of this reveiw but, Im that pad player that shouldn't get it because stick and leverless dont work well for me (only use for some characters in some games I know its odd)and I love it. I'm cheap as well but I got the Battle Beaver split D-pad and it makes it the best d-pad feel I have ever used. If I were you spend the 17 bucks sooo worth it. It sits lower then the stock one and never get miss inputs! Last thing I dont really care to coment much on any youtube vids but this contoller helps me play fightng games longer because of never damage in my right hand. I hope it gets better but its a great first run and I got the one before the 5thgen brook pcb but, with fgc wingman brook adapteri can use it any way I want. Its really great but, maybe if it was like 10-15% bigger would be better for my hands. I hope they sell a tons to make a v2 and v3 if you think it might be for you give it a shot. Build feels great for a 3d print and its very customizable and fun and easy to tinker with. Great video and reveiw!
Hey thanks for your input I also think this controller is good for pad players. Also what type of split dpad you used? There is two versions on the battlebeaver website?

Will I have to solder any thing? Do I have to buy anything separate? sorry for asking so much, I'm just very interested about this controller sense ur first vlog And have been waiting for u to cover it lol
If you get the complete build it’s ready to go out of the box and comes with the BROOK GEN-5X board which is compatible on everything atm. No soldering or anything required. The DIY build is for if you want to explore modding yourself!

Just wish some makes a dpad like the one in Nintendo 3DS XL.. that would make half circle, quarter circle inputs easier without causing rub burns on the thumb..

Loved the review as always, goated
I appreciate you ✌️
This would honestly be the perfect controller for me playing SF6 if it had a trigger another shoulder button on the left side!
I agree, having a trigger and a shoulder would make the left side feel more complete imo
If you play Pad, just stick with it. I use a stick for a few games, mostly older games, I use leverless on Tekken, I play SF6 and Strive on Pad.
I can find this useful to pad players who play puppet characters.
Oh dang tru
Awesome video! Great as always. 🫡
Thank you bro 🥲
Awesome, now someone should make a right handed fight stick.
I’m sure they already exist!
ergonomics aside, good design doesn't mean it has to be centered & making something centered doesn't make it a better design automatically
now if the pad side was more controller feel I think this would work and had both L1 & L2
Valid!

It has a lot to do with the Brook Board inside, you could always get a raspberry pico for $5 and put that inside along with the buttons of your choice
7:32 qcf/qcb inputs are essential for Tekken as well
Yeah don't do split dpad like he did use battlebeaver split you'll be able to qcf easily
I play xiaoyu so she don’t have those but for mishimas yeah I wouldn’t do the split dpad mod

It first I thought it was expensive but after calculating myself I came to the same conclusion lol the price is on point.
I personally have a smashbox and would love to see the details on how you got the buttons to do different things
Soon™
imaging rewiring the thumb button for jump and leave the up button dpad wired to nothing. This could be fun!
You definitely could do that if you were more comfortable with up being on the thumb button!
another fire vid🔥🔥🔥
