People didnt realize that as much as they were a good looking bunch, they were pretty awesome musicians too. Robinsons Quango is them taking on Ska with such skill and finesse.
@@viniciuspontioliweber2266 singing isnt about being on pitch its about spreading music and a message. nobody's perfect dude. I'd like to see you sing a song like this with every pitch perfect. (and if you have, then you should know how difficult it is.)
Blur was one of the greatest bands ever. They got me through the 90's. What happened in the 90's'? You'd think the way people talk that grunge was the only thing out there. It was all the British bands--Blur, Portishead, Tricky, Massive Attack, Spiritualized, Radiohead, and that one singular expatriate Icelandic space pixie that made the 90's for me.
Yup… you summed it up. Idk about you, but I’d include a few others. Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Sneaker Pimps, Air, Stereolab, and Garbage… so many great acts to pick and choose from at this time. 😢
Graham's fuzzy tone is so ear-grabbing. But I wouldn't say 85%. They are all such musicians. Rhythm section is so tight and Dave CRUSHES quango. The tightness is what really sets them apart from the other big britpop acts imo. Seriously this video put me in a damn trance
While of course acknowledging the contributions of Alex, Damon, Dave, and various session musicians, I agree that 85% of what I like about Blur is Graham’s guitar work.
Graham Coxon surely is one of the top guitarists of ALL TIME, and I say this as a guy who plays the electric guitar (and drums). However, Dave is a very good drummer and Alex is also a very good bassist. They are all at a high level.
there was a kind of face-off in the nineties (rather imposed by the media) between Blur and Oasis over the brit pop throne, so to speak. There was no victor. Both bands turned out to be equally great. However I think that Blur is more interesting musically. Guitar, bass, and drums all have trully great moments. This song in particular is a guitar paradise. How great Coxon is as a guitar player!
I love both bands and I see it like this. If I want to rock out and not think, I listen to Oasis. If I want to enjoy a load of different styles and sounds, I’ll listen to Blur
Blur's definitely my favorite. To be honest, I'd rather listen to Blur, Pulp, Supergrass, The Verve, or Suede (and potentially many other rock bands of the period) over Oasis. I just can't get into Liam's vocals and the tired instrumentals. Also Wonderwall is hilariously overplayed.
I have to give it to Blur. They never really caught on here in the US, but when I first heard Modern Life is Rubbish, I knew beyond a doubt that something great was happening in music again.
Gosh, I haven't seen this since it first went out. Thanks for uploading. I must say though, camera work isn't too hot. It would have been interesting to see what was amusing Damon and their keyboardist at 8:09.
Can't you just be happy for those 7 albums instead, plus they have enough b-sides and stuff that can fill another 2 albums easily. At the end of the day, it's quality that matters over quantity.
Guitar sounds better than on record. I went to see them in the 90s around this time. They were so good and much harder than I was expecting which impressed me. Very good band
There are 2 types of mode im in when in concerts. First mode is the rowdy banging mode second is the staring mode where i dont want to even blink all i do is just stare and be mesmerized.
The Great Escape is probably the only Blur album I can still listen to. I was a big fan back then but have heard them way too much. Somehow I've always found TGE most interesting even though it was the album most people hated.
Personally The Great Escape isn’t my favorite out of all their albums but I feel like it’s overly hated on, I think that Best Days deserved to be a single and The Universal is so good
Wow, i forgot how silly Damon and Alex looked back then when performing. They have matured a lot since. In the 00's and up, they are way more chilled and when performing.
Unreal band! One of my favourite bands growing up during the britpop era. Saw them on the self titled album tour and at Hyde park UA-cam ‘Showtime’ another good live show of theirs
The only time Alex isn’t smoking is when he’s eating cheese
AHHHH
Wallop
More like smoked cheese.
😂😂 good point well made Sufia
lol hahahahahahahaha
Bruh Damon straight up smacks his head against the mic
Hes a naughty boy
Why isn’t anyone talking about graham. I mean how cute is he.
thumbs up I agree (no homo).
Cuz Alex is stealing the scene
RIGHT
He's so cute indeed
Graham is adorable, and a damned good guitarist. Not just the technical skills, but he hs an ear for the right riff for the moment.
At the beginning, Alex timed that cigarette pose perfectly
more like the guy in the control room, Alex was just looking at the studio camera he saw pointed at him.
Alex is a god with cigarettes.
He's a flash little gitt and a moody sod
I love young Damon, what a crazy weird man was!!
Riviere8281 today too ;)
He still a crazy weird man 😂
"Was"??? You should see the recent concert footage.

Until I saw Blur live, I was convinced they’d be more of a “good in the studio” band. But holy balls-they kick some serious butt live!!!
When did you saw them live? This video only or at a live gig?
5:55 calm down
he’s crazed !
I love Damon's reaction to being called rkid !
the live version of mr robinson’s quango sounds so much better than the album version
Agreed! Check out the version on “Live at the Budokan” a quality live record of this ERA. Also Globe Alone which knocks it out of the park! 😊❤🙆♀️
You can tell how old this video is: smoking indoors is legal!
Emma Selwyn it’s record on a VHS 💀💀

what the fuck why are our cultures being connected to fucking anime now
Quango was fucking awesome
What an amazing time the 90's was. Blur were just awesome
This version of Quango is exquisite. Blur knew how to rock out at the end of a track.
Damons skull must be indestructible with the amount of times he’s banged his head on a mic 9:27
Alex holding that cigarette is the most french thing I've ever seen
