Watched it all. I only subscribed today. I'm interested in a bike at a ripe 40yrs, but life sucks when you don't have a job.I currently drive. Look forward to more videos.
@TwoWheelsTommy nice one 👍 look forward to seeing your journey. It's a great feeling when you take the L plates off. I'm staying with my suzuki gsxs 125 for the time being. But looking at either the Honda Rebel or the Kawasaki eliminator. I'm only 5ft on a good day 😄 so don't want a bike that I have to fight with.
@angelapartington5884 Thanks for watching! I'm sure you will love whatever you end up on. My MOD 1 test video is now live 😀 ua-cam.com/video/Z5lJwsny9FU/v-deo.html
Did my Mod 2 last week and saw a couple of these eclutch Hondas at the test centre. According to instructors jury is out on whether they are a manual or an automatic for the test. They're a nice middle ground though between manual and a full automatic bike like a Dct gearbox or a scooter. Good luck with mod 1. Just remember everything you're doing you've done it all before in your training, take your time and take a breath before each exercise. You'll smash it.
They are indeed reaching into a 'grey' area. You can change gear using the clutch, or without the clutch. You still have to change gear so not an automatic in the traditional sense. I can see them being very handy in high traffic areas. Thanks for the good luck, hoping for a good result!
@@TwoWheelsTommy I really wanted to like the new hornet, but they made it a parallel twin. Yes 270 degree twins can sound good but that's not a hornet in my opinion.
@@TwoWheelsTommy parallel twin, two pistons side by side II inline 4, four pistons side by side IIII a 180 degree firing order parallel twin can sound boring, a 270 degree firing order parallel twin can have a nice deep growl to it. I'm more inclined to the screaming wail of an inline 4
I honestly thought I'd end up with one after getting my licence, they look and sound so good. Something else has caught my eye though so all will be revealed soon!
@@TwoWheelsTommy I found a BMW 850GS for a good price and fell in love with it. Plus, being 6'4, I felt a bigger sized bike was more comfortable for me
Always think defensive riding on your test Tommy and don't make others have to slow from your actions... ride like a saint, good ride buddy you'll soon have that license in your hand .. best feeling in the world..😊
Yes! Hopefully it will all come together on ym MOD 1, I could do without having a nother day out on the mainland, it is hard enough to catch up at work if I take even a coupe of hours out! I can do it!
@@TwoWheelsTommy I'm self employed as well past my test a couple of years ago at the age of 48 .. you'll do fine on both mod 1 and 2 .. trick is just take your time on mod 1 and ask the examiner on each part if your unsure, and just to clarify it in your head.. mod 2, you have done all the work so just keep it simple ... you'll do fine..👍
@johnking5932 Hopefully I can get it done... I'll be much more annoyed if I fail Mod 1, than I will if I fail MOD 2 as that doesn't involve a ferry trip 🤣
Great video Tommy 😎 was a lot of fun getting to ride a big bike on the roads felt so much safer then a 125 🏍️💨wasn’t as fun getting back on my bike after tho and having no speed at all😂 goodluck with your tests I’m sure you’ll smash them 💪🏼
Gotta love a quick shifter. A buddy of mine had the cb1000r as a courtesy bike for a few weeks and it felt like a super powerful moped 😂😂 I didn’t know you can idle in first gear with the clutch out though, that’s pretty cool 😎
Ha yes this is different to a quick shifter. It is more like an automatic bike but you still have to instigate the gear change - minus the clutch bit - like you say you can have it in first gear no hands without moving anywhere. You should have a go on one given the chance, handy where you are with traffic etc...
Figured id chuck a question up for you, hopefully youll see it and reply. So i decided after years of waiting to get going on my motorcycle license, i drove a 125 for 2 years when i was younger and life forced me to give it all up and get a boring car.... well the time has come to get back on the bike! I have my CBT and theory all booked up but my main question is do you feel riding a 125 for the short space of time you did helped at all? Ive heard/been told/read so many contradicting things its wild how people say just do the DAS without the 125 as youll learn bad habbits etc or thats what the DAS is for to train you to pass. Do you feel if you hadnt had your 125 you would still be at the point your at now on your direct access course or do you feel you wouldve needed more training? Thanks in advance if you do answer
Alright Chris, glad you like the videos! The DAS is a weird setup. In an ideal world you can knock out a DAS in a short amount of time. This is great if you don't have commitments elsewhere and can commit a chunk of time to it. In reality you'll still likely end up waiting for test slots to come available and whatnot so why rush it unless you NEED that licence quickly? For example, over here we only have MOD 2 tests once every 2 weeks here so if you fail it can add a chunk to your timescale - that quick DAS quickly turns into a not-so-quick DAS. I have found having a 125 really helpful, just getting miles in here and there. I'm still doing a DAS course but it is spread out to suit my availability, which suits me as I have a young family, a business to run, and other responsibilities and things I want to do in my (rare) spare time! Riding a 125 is different to a big bike. People say riding a big bike is easier, and I agree - much more stable, just much more pleasant to ride. I will say I started this journey as I wanted a cheap way to get down the post office quickly, I honestly had no interest in motorcycles. But it got me by the balls and now I love the things. Why not get your CBT and see how you feel moving forward. If you steer clear of the cheaper Chinese 125's you'll likely sell a decent 125 for near what you paid for it when you move to a bigger bike so look at it as a very cheap rental whilst you learn the basics. Hope that helps. 😀
You'll be fine on MOD 1 and was least confident with slow ride and U turn but had 2 sessions just to make sure I had everything covered and my training was on a much smaller area then yours but on test I felt great tbh as everything was on point but didn't think I made speeds for speed trap but made just right time lol just hope MOD 2 goes just as well 🤞 Good luck with MOD 1 but you'll smash it 💪
@TwoWheelsTommy just do what you've done in training and you'll be fine and things like after U turn says 'take as much room as possible ' then do that as you don't wanna mess up as even before you enter test area you're in test so do mirror checks etc and even after you leave, got a MOD 2 training session july 10th and hopefully be ready to book MOD 2 and probably be in August as looking to book at Worcester
@TwoWheelsTommy even much before the test starts just know you're in test conditions and do every mirror check etc before you move off and take your time as average takes 15 minutes to complete but doesn't mean you have to,hopefully your next upload is a MOD 1 pass 🤞👍
Alright tommy lad, Honda's do have a habit of finding neutral False neutral think they call it. So not entirely your fault, although do think it is a bit unfair that the instructor is leaving you to lead all the time you should be changing around to give yourself bit of break. Weed in your neck of the woods never young man haha. Its funny watching the roads that you are going on think I know most of them from watching you start of your journey (125) and you don't even mention most of those that you where scared of to start. Amazing what a bit of practice does, well done man. 👍😎
Thanks mate, that is good to know if is not just me then getting neutral! I actually son't mind being at the front when I can hear, in a way it shows he is happy with my riding in general as every time I've done a big bike ride the other rider has always been on their first time riding a big bike. At least I don't have someone stalling in front of me 🤣 I really notice the weed when riding, the car protects you from those whiffs too. Good of you to say so, nothing phases me on the bike now. It's up to the examiner as DVSA doesn't know yet. I am sure these will be treated as automatic motorbikes very soon (because that's what it is).
