man sega has undicovered talent and really is confident in the wii samba has good songs nights has good game play and sonic is just plain awsome whats the next game they bring back
The official Sega maracas don't make sound. I turned the maraca sound effects on in the menu. It helps me keep the beat. So the sounds were coming from the TV. The mat is just a cutesy little thing that comes with the official ones. It shows you where to stand in relation to the sensor. Seaman is great. I've been thinking about making a movie about that game similar to this.
Haha, my boyfriend is psyched about the Wii version coming out. He played the Dreamcast version so much, but one of his maracas broke ): And it was his favorite game to play too Dx Thank you, Wii!
Haha, I was doing all of those in Super Hard! I used to be amazing at it back in the day. I failed Livin' La Vida Loca Super Hard, but I passed Open Your Heart and Super Sonic Racing on Super Hard.
Nah, the original ones have never given me any sort of problem. I do have a friend whose Cha Cha Amigo maracas have the same problem... I'm pretty sure we blew something. We had my first party maracas on two extension cords in port A, his Cha Chas with 2 extension cords in port B, a Sega Saturn to Dreamcast controller port in C, and I think something else in D. They suddenly stopped working, and the game hasn't recognized them since. (the officials ones still work fine).
lets see, if sega already has sonic out, and NiGHTS came out a while ago, then Samba De Amigo, the Billy Hatcher has to be the next Sega character to be reborn for the wii. By the Way, thanks for showing how to play, i was kinda stumped loking at all the other videos
Great to see how the announcement of the Wii version has brought about all these appreciation videos for the original! You've done a better job at showing it off than my video mainly because you have someone filming for you =) I love this game to pieces, easily the best rhythm game I've ever played. What mode was you playing that in, normal?
Yes. I played for two years with just the controller, and I still had the time of my life. Many people complain that the controls on the controller are horrible, though. I'd look at gamefaqs or something and see how you like them. Honestly, when you get used to them, they're great. I can perfect Super Hard songs.
Dude, YES, I love Samba De Amigo, I lost one of those little pieces to the maraccas though, I'm so sad still about it. Sometime I'll order a new DC (mine burned up because I actually played it too much, Power Stone, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, OH YES!).. I'll also order maraccas. I wish I could get Ver. 2000 and a DC and new maraccas, because I still have the VMU with all the songs they had up for download, which you can't get anywhere now.
no I wish but you can play sonic stages on some songs but you can only watch him dance not hear his songs. I have this for the dreamcast and it is fun but the controls can get hard
Nice video. I was wondering though I bought this game a few days ago and was wondering to unlock the Sega music like super sonic racing do you use passwords from the old dreamcast website or was the website the only way to unlock them and in that case would that mean that I can not unlock the songs or is there some where else I could get what is needed to unlock the songs. Thank you for your time.
I believe I need completely agree with you when you say that only real men would play Samba on Dreamcast. It's like the great grandfather to the epic We Cheer.
I'm getting it soon, I'm close to recieving the amount I need to pay for it. BTW, you're sure the Japanese Maracas work while using a US Dreamcast, AND playing a US copy of the game???
I have the wii version, but the controls aren't as good as the DC version. It's really frustrating, actually. Just beating songs on hard can be a pain in the ass.
Hi! I saw your video is great,I have problem with my third party maracas(Cha Cha amigo). The game don't recognize them,do you have this problem with the original ones? Thanks in advance for your help!
@VitorVitoriaBaia Then that's the fault of the people who ported the game (ie the Wii version is shovelware). The Wii is more than capable to making equal to better graphics, so if they made it look worse... well, that's a bad port.
uhm.. i dont exactally have samba de amigo.. but on the eye toy, sega super stars it has livin la vida loca. would it count if i did a respance to your video with my eye toy score? well the moves are basically the same.. so can i =)
This game is amazing, I first played this when i was like.. 6 I beleive, friend burnt it when it came out way back on the Pentium 3. Glad to see people into proper rythm games not this guitar hero shit. Im 14 now, can't wait for it's come back on Wii.
i just bought the game ive wanted for the past year or so....this!!!. it should be in my mail by monaday. it came with American Maracas, boxed (VERY RARE) American game (Uncommon) Japanese game (pointless) (Common) DC-X import device (Rare) you know how much it cost? 50, EFFING, BUCKS!!!!! plus 10 shipping, makes it 60. WHAT A STEAL!!!!! can't wait! i dont need the importer or the japanese game, so it basically cost me even less when i seel these two items.
HAHA MY NAME IS SAMBA! this looks like a zany game, hey IM PRETTY ZANY maby they based it around me, but i play the drums, not the maracas, maybe its a sign from god, ILL DROP THE DRUMS AND PLAY THE MARACAS INSTEAD!!!1 nah fuck it, GOOD JOB(Y)
First of all, you're an idiot. You think that I have some sort of elaborate conspiracy planned for the masses? i) I said that the MARACAS were imported, not the game. ii) I didn't get it until probably 2003-ish. I said AROUND 1999. I never said that I was playing around that time, I just said "back in the day, there was a real rhythm game." What's your point? If you're just trying to show that you know your dates, nobody is impressed.
I miss old youtube, thanks for the content!
I'm back here, once again, to watch this legend!
Duuuude. My friends and I all LOVE the Sonic R soundtrack.
EVERYBODY SUPER SONIC RACING! EVERYBODY!
I actually own this, let me tell you: IT IS AWESOME!!
I remember seeing this video when you first uploaded it.
Good Times.
We’re did the time go
Thanks for showing video of the maracas! Here in 2020 I still can't find much good footage of people actually /playing/ the game.
Darn right this was a real theme game! Can't get used to 1999 being back in the day....I was still in college then!
Nostalgia
man sega has undicovered talent and really is confident in the wii samba has good songs nights has good game play and sonic is just plain awsome whats the next game they bring back

INCREDIBLY INFORMATIVE VIDEO!! My friends were just wondering about this game. I'm gonna post this vid on their facebook. THANKS AGAIN!!
Haha, I was doing all of those in Super Hard!
I used to be amazing at it back in the day. I failed Livin' La Vida Loca Super Hard, but I passed Open Your Heart and Super Sonic Racing on Super Hard.
It's supposed to be a new game, with a bunch of the best songs from the original.
Yes, it does have NiGHTs music. It had the NiGHTs theme song.
Nah, the original ones have never given me any sort of problem.
I do have a friend whose Cha Cha Amigo maracas have the same problem... I'm pretty sure we blew something.

those maracas are SO WORTH BUYING! this game is one of Sonic Team's masterpiece! they don't make these kind of good games anymore... urrhhh
lets see, if sega already has sonic out, and NiGHTS came out a while ago, then Samba De Amigo, the Billy Hatcher has to be the next Sega character to be reborn for the wii. By the Way, thanks for showing how to play, i was kinda stumped loking at all the other videos
I love this game I cant wait for it to come out for wii this september!
Nope. It does absolutely nothing other than look really sexy.
Great to see how the announcement of the Wii version has brought about all these appreciation videos for the original! You've done a better job at showing it off than my video mainly because you have someone filming for you =)

I believe I need completely agree with you when you say that only real men would play Samba on Dreamcast. It's like the great grandfather to the epic We Cheer.
I have so much respect for you!
Yeah, there's a ground sensor under them.
@piggie96 Nope, and it's still pretty damn fun without them.
Yep, and I totally think it's still hella fun without the maracas.
Oh, true. Yeah, np. =)
I'm getting it soon, I'm close to recieving the amount I need to pay for it. BTW, you're sure the Japanese Maracas work while using a US Dreamcast, AND playing a US copy of the game???
