Utah fans complain about the REAL holding call in the 4th quarter, but they don't talk about the FAKE facemask call against BYU (confirmed by replay) at a critical point at the end of the first half.
@@MichaelSaline The whistle wasn’t blown till after the play. If the referee blew the whistle before he could have stopped the play and not let it play on
I watched the game. I am not going to complain about the bad call against BYU at the end of the 1st half NOR will I complain about what appears to be the correct call on Utah for defensive holding at the end of the game. Refs sometimes miss things and get things wrong. The call on 4th and 10 was the correct call, just a more direct impact on who won and who lost the game. Maybe if the defensive player didn't hold, maybe the QB completes a pass to him for a TD? That is possible. That would have been a good reason to hold.
@@nickalaimo5925they're literally a dozen replays of Sitake calling timeout before the play started. They're literally showed it on my TV him calling the time out and the refs blowing the whistle before the ball was snapped. Why are you out here straight lying when there's proof you're lying?
It had an impact on the play. Another angle shows that WR was Retzlaff’s first read. The throw wasn’t there because the WR was busy being held. Jake went to his next reads and got sacked.
That holding penalty did affect the play. When you blitz, the ball has to come out quickly. If the DB is holding the wide out at the line of scrimmage there is nowhere for the QB to throw. Utah wants to bitch and moan, but they were +4 points on bad calls in that game. In the second quarter they scored a td after a phantom face mask penalty. BYU kicked a field goal after the holding penalty. Utah’s final three drives were a combined 10 plays. The game was in their hands, and they could not hold the ball. BTW Utah, if you do not want to be in the Big12 the Pac is still looking for an eighth team. You can always go back.
BYU is over performing for sure. This isn't a team that will win the CFB playoffs. At leaat not based on the "eye" test. But if they keep winning please keep crying.
You highly self esteemed team can reinvent the WAC and be happy there. BYUs first season in Big12 was really painful. What did they do? Diss the Big12 or officials, or cry and run away from the conference? NOPE, they worked their butts off like never before all year starting from Jan 24. This is the result of shutting their traps, buckling in ALLTOGETHER, busting their own behinds, and paying the big price as a team to be able to do that 2 min drill just like they had done hundreds of times in practice before the very first kickoff happened.
To all Ute fans-that’s football. Sometimes the calls go for you, sometimes they don’t. In the end, the Utes were held scoreless in the 2nd half. I empathize with fans…tough loss. Your AD is totally unprofessional-claiming Utah was robbed by the officials. Should we bother to review the close games in the past years where Utah benefited by the yellow flag being thrown? Geez.
Don’t forget your knee bending woke AD that banned BYU fan for allegedly yelling racial slurs at Duke volleyball player. Apology only came after defamation lawsuit threatened. BYU AD apologized in the back pages of the internet that no one saw. I’d rather have Utah’s AD passion and all.
As an Utah fan, the call is frustrating (although even if frustrating it was a hold), but I think our AD and so many fans are using the call to mask the real issues. This was not a case where the result of the flag put BYU in field goal range and ended the game. Even after the flag, BYU still had to drive half the length of the field with only a minute and a half and no timeouts - and they drove that distance with ease. Additionally, we scored literally 0 points in the entire second half, and we had great field position to start almost every offensive possession in that half! The call sucks, but we lost that game, it was not “stolen” from us
A football fan who understands the game and even a field goal is a given, look at the Denver broncos game against the chiefs all they had to do is make a 35 yard field goal to beat the Kansas City chiefs and so many players broke through the line I couldn't tell which player blocked it. Utah had great field position 4 times in the second half, and couldn't get a field goal to seal the game, no offense year that why there 4 and 5
I think KU has good shot at a win over CU because CU believe in their own heads they didn’t lose to KSU and obviously KU who lost to KSU by 2 points should be blowout in favor of CU. I think ASU is going to be a tough game but after the week off they should be playing just like they did after the loss to BYU
What a game. Welcome Big 12 to the intensity of the Holy War rivalry game. The fall out from the Utah AD is going to be epic. I would love to be a fly on the wall as the president of the university is talking to the AD. Yep 12:00 EST.
@@cameronclark3725 I don't see how if they both go to the Big 12 title game the loser will receive and at large bid. No way. Maybe BYU if they lose the Big 12 title game and they're still ranked in the top seven.
@@cameronclark3725 it's the five conference champions and seven at large bids. The seven at large bids come directly down the order of the CFP rankings skipping conference champions. If they're not ranked in the top 12 and lose in the Big 12 title to BYU then they are out. Plain and simple.
On the other hand, someone has to say this out loud. People are hating on Colorado, but because of ratings, Hunter, and the Sanders family there could be some magical things that happen.
Same. My hopes for BYU this year was to be bowl eligible and competitive in the Holy War. 9-0 and a win over Utah? This was a great season. Everything after this is icing on the cake.
I’m satisfied on the great progress of the team if they win a playoff game. Super satisfied if Indiana or Boise, BYU, Colorado can poke the SEC and B10 in the eye.
Yeah, there were some bad calls on both sides but as a lifelong BYU fan, I fully expected that game to be close. I mean, I would’ve preferred it not be as close, but I was not at all surprised. I would’ve been more surprised had BYU blown them out. Or vice versa.

A lot of people weren't worried about CU after going down. Texas Tech rammed the ball down them in that first drive. That was a Blitzkrieg that even Nebraska, K State, or anyone has done this year. I'm hoping for BYU to drop two of their next three and for K State to get past Iowa State. I want a Wildcat vs Buffalo rematch in the Big 12 title game. BYU pulled it out, and it was a wild game, but I needed higher ranked teams to beat Iowa State and K State and they ended up getting knocked off by lower ranked Big 12 teams. Never know what's going to happen.
Love the Buffs, but the officiating in that game was HORRENDOUS. I watched the BYU-Utah game and the officiating was even worse. The Big XII has a major officiating problem that has to be addressed....
The refs were bad. But they always are. And it's not like Utah didn't benefit from bad calls. It's weak to blame a loss of the refs. WEAK. And nobody who knows this rivalry is surprised that when utah loses, they blame everyone but themselves. Maybe get more than 10 total yards in your last three offensive possessions before you throw a toddler tantrum on national tv. lol
Hearing U of U AD & Ute fans complain about the referees reminded me of the 2003 Cubs in the NLCS. Anyone remember Steve Bartman?
