Those cars look so cool and a good plot narrative and likeable characters makes it even better.
@@tomaslopez2940 I can see that being plausible, I mean Mattel has always been good at adapting in other franchises into their toy lines like Hot Wheels, they could have a special series of their hot wheels cars be the specific cars from Motorcity and have it as a sort of in house brand like Acceleracers and sell the toys of the cars like those did. Would be pretty cool, especially if they like did a crossover to their other series, like World Race or something so it makes sense they’re all hot wheels cars. @@jasper_saberwolf Oh right, speaking of Hot Wheels, the studio who worked on this did do a Hot Wheels cartoon 2 years later, weird how no one talks about that, unless there's a negative stigma on it and people just try to pretend it doesn't exist, LOL.
I loved this show bit specifically remembering the reason I couldn't get into it being the order of them airing it, as you mentioned. The art style and character design dragged me and so many others in, but then you start watching and realize you have no clue what's going on, and kids don't have the best attention span. So at the end of the day, the art style was the only thing I did remember, and I couldn't tell you a thing about what the show was about except cars.
I think my favorite piece of Trivia from Motorcity is that the main theme was composed by none other than Brendon Small! Such a distinct and iconic tone with his guitars, and this was arguably at the height of his popularity with Dethklok. I hope one day that the full theme can get released. At least we have Galaktikon I & II, and the new Metalocalypse movie coming still!
I still remember the episode of this show that completely sold me on it. It was the zombie episode, and to see this show not only give full on episodes of time to other main characters beyond the leader as well as pull off a really good genre episode (and mix in the amazing style) I wanted to see more of it. Then I never did, and was always curious why it never showed back up again. Glad to see it’s left of solid mark, and will definitely need to watch/rewatch this show
This is easily better than most modern Disney shows right now, simply because it knows what it does well (animation, art style, action, music) and it perfects these aspects to the fullest extent. This laser-focused approach towards making the watching experience as fun as possible is rarely seen nowadays. Disney has no idea what they're doing right now, and it all started when they cancelled this magnificent show.
I’m glad I finally watched Motorcity all the way through. The episodes were entertaining, the characters were well developed and the cars were solid metal awesome.Really can’t recommend the show enough.
I’ve never seen this, but looks like something that would right up my alley. Reminds me of watching Highway 35 and Acceleracers, which no one really covers and has only just gotten some of the attention it deserves by some cars being included in Hot Wheels: Unleashed and the Deora II being a main car in FH5’s Hot Wheels DLC.
Man its just sad that car actions shows always fail like this. Hot wheels, motor city, megas, nascar racers, ATOM... As a kid obsessed with cars I remember being bummed how my favorite shows always had so little popularity
Wow, I’ve heard of this series but never knew it was made by the guy of Megas XLR. This poor man just can’t catch a break on making a series that reaches its own ending.
this show was totally a treat for me as a car person because we rarely get any car related action cartoons anymore (even if done there were primarily just toy commercials) i really liked the artstyle and the whole rebellion against dystopian society plot but primarily i kind of was in for cars at first, especially mike's car which is a mix of hotwheels twin mill but with a muscle car style design.
i totally forgot about this show until now, it was a favorite of mine growing up and catching all the reruns until they stopped showing it was a treat back then. Man i miss it and it’s a shame nothing more ever came of it.
I always wondered what the relationship might be between this show and Redline. Their artstyles are very similar, but I forget which came first; if Redline did, it may well have inspired this.
Damn, Prynoski CANNOT catch a break in this industry! The worst part is that he and Titmouse can't even get his own creations back thanks to corporations and copyright laws. Here's to hoping he can get his IPs Downtown, Megas XLR, and Motorcity.
I totally wanted the show to have some resolution to things like Julie’s crush on Mike, and even red to understand how much of a hypocritical moron he was being by blaming the wrong person and working with the direct cause of him losing his home.
Yeah there are so many things that need resolution. Just Julie’s entire dynamic and identity reveal subplot would warrant some time, Dutch and his family reuniting, Red either getting redeemed or defeated, even just more on all the Burners families would be so cool! It’s a shame the show was cut short and the fandom is so small. Finding content for it is like searching for a needle in a haystack full of needle shipped hay!
I didn’t watch the show when it was coming out but I wish I did. I just finished it a week ago and it’s pretty great. I wish there was some kind of way for other networks to revive shows like this that where given the shaft
Motor City is something that I have been trying to find in my memories and I thank you for reminding me through this video! Such a shame it got cancelled...

One of the coolest animated kid shows of Disney ever made. Frankly I couldn't see that for myself since I was still young at the time, but now that I've gotten older I finally see what motorcity is all about. I love this show along with Tron: Uprising.
It's kinda funny that the big corporation guy banned private transportation in order to assert control when in reality that's exactly the opposite of what real life corporations do to assert control, promote private over public transportation making less space as roads are massive + making it harder & more expensive to travel as you have to learn to drive, pay for gas and car insurance etc.
It was 2012 you had all the hotwheels and matchbox you put it together in front of your television while you watched this incredible series. and i still love it

Glad to see it’s left of solid mark, and will definitely need to watch/rewatch this show
I saw this show literally 10 years ago, it is the most unique show I ever watched 🔥
I'd never heard of this show before today. I'm really impressed! Count me in as a fan.
Always good to see an aceleracers fan
funnily enough, Titmouse did work on a Hot Wheels cartoon like, 2 years later
Not only do I love this show, I have saved concept art and character turnarounds on my computer for stylized art reference. It's just that good!
Wow, I’ve heard of this series but never knew it was made by the guy of Megas XLR. This poor man just can’t catch a break on making a series that reaches its own ending.
Finally i found this cartoon back!
This show was so great and my rage at it's cancellation has been renewed now if you'll excuse me I need to go find an empty field to scream in
this show was totally a treat for me as a car person because we rarely get any car related action cartoons anymore (even if done there were primarily just toy commercials) i really liked the artstyle and the whole rebellion against dystopian society plot but primarily i kind of was in for cars at first, especially mike's car which is a mix of hotwheels twin mill but with a muscle car style design.
I remember thinking the art style was so unique as a kid
Motorcity has some of my favorite worldbuilding in nearly any show. Thanks for covering this.
The entire show is on the Internet Archive because this show is not on Disney+
i totally forgot about this show until now, it was a favorite of mine growing up and catching all the reruns until they stopped showing it was a treat back then. Man i miss it and it’s a shame nothing more ever came of it.
I always wondered what the relationship might be between this show and Redline. Their artstyles are very similar, but I forget which came first; if Redline did, it may well have inspired this.
This is truly one of my favourite shows of this type. The characters, the story, the animation 😙👌
Damn, Prynoski CANNOT catch a break in this industry! The worst part is that he and Titmouse can't even get his own creations back thanks to corporations and copyright laws.
Here's to hoping he can get his IPs Downtown, Megas XLR, and Motorcity.
Jordan, in this past few months you have become in my top three fav UA-camrs. keep up the great work, dude
I totally wanted the show to have some resolution to things like Julie’s crush on Mike, and even red to understand how much of a hypocritical moron he was being by blaming the wrong person and working with the direct cause of him losing his home.
I read a theory that Red i actually Mike's former partner and he claims he is from that house to mess with Mike
This and Tron Uprising were some of the best cartoons of the era that got screwed by Disney at the same time
Motor City is something that I have been trying to find in my memories and I thank you for reminding me through this video! Such a shame it got cancelled...
Disney XD
The EA of animation
This was a trip. A trip I was barely on.
I was obsessed with this show as a kid.
disney did this show dirty...
i loved the visuals and idea of it.
This would’ve been a banger on Netflix damn. It feels too adult for Disney
You did it you Legend, You Covered Motorcity. Thank You Jordan, Keep doing what your doing and hunt for Underrated/Forgotten shows that have been hiding waiting to be found. keep Hunting Jordan good luck on your quest to uncover more series
Bro took cant have shit in detroit to a whole new level
Every time, I feel like I've remembered all the odd or obscure cartoons I watched when I was little, then you remind me of another.
Please review Tron:Uprising! Another disney show that was brilliant, yet so short lived
One of the coolest animated kid shows of Disney ever made. Frankly I couldn't see that for myself since I was still young at the time, but now that I've gotten older I finally see what motorcity is all about. I love this show along with Tron: Uprising.
Beck and mike are one of greatest heroes there well more likely anti fascist heroes but still great heroes.
Yeah... I'm coming to realize that I agree with the villain here... scary stuff.
with as often as this has happened, it feels like someone 'upstairs' has a vendetta against chris.
They also had Kel from Kenan and kel
Yes, he was the voice actor for Dutch.
It was 2012 you had all the hotwheels and matchbox you put it together in front of your television while you watched this incredible series. and i still love it
Wait Kane was voiced by Mark Hamel?
Well said. Could not have summarized it all better myself. I often spread the word of this great show and long for it's return. It truly was an absolutely fantastic and unique show that I hold out hope for a season 2. Even if it may seem unrealistic. Love this show to death. I still plan to get a Burner or Mutt tattoo.
TEXAS-IFY IT!
I just watched the full series on drive TODAY, and you just uploaded the video omg
He bad timing established titles not looking so good rn lol
