There is no reason to dwell on the past now, because all that matters is this... Those days are GONE - FOREVER.. They're NEVER coming back - EVER AGAIN.. Yes, you heard me - NEVER, EVER AGAIN. I know that it's a harsh reality to face up to, so let it sink in for a minute... Nickelodeon Studios, much like Nickelodeon itself, in all of it's 1990's glory - all that it stood for and all that it represented, will forever be a doomed relic of the past; a hollowed out shell of bought, sold, and re-purposed amusement park real-estate - a slowly but surely fading blip of every American Millenial's childhood dreams and, with it, all hope for a better future and brighter tomorrow. It's sad, It's painful, It's agonizing, but it's the truth. The last recognizable remnants of the gutted Nickelodeon Studios are the white, blue, and slime green colored tiles of the bathroom floors, and just like the tile on those bathroom floors, our feel-good memories of Danny Tamberelli, Lori Beth Denberg, Amanda Bynes, Keenan Thompson, and Kel Mitchell goofing around on the sets of "All That" are destined for the same exact fate - to slowly decay and be eaten away from the long-ago dried out pee-pee stains that the custodian missed by the corner urinal in 1999 after an episode of "Figure it Out" (hosted by Summer Sanders). The only difference is that our pee-pee stains are something far more corrosive - our pee-pee stains are the lies that we were sold from the very beginning. We never did "Figure it Out" that all that we were presented as we daydreamed in a carefree stupor in front of a flickering CRT TV screen during the pinnacle of the 20th century was all an illusion that would one day be pulled from right beneath our feet. Yes - we were played for the juvenile naive fools that we were who didn't know any better. We were a whole generation that got SLIMED!... AND WE DIDN"T EVEN WIN ANY PRIZES! The game ended, the host walked away, and the credits rolled, but, unlike what we were expecting, there was no suave announcer named 'J' to tell us at the very end that "This show was taped in front of a live studio audience at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios, Florida!". Our visions for a grown-up life that would one day validate all of the happy feelings we were hypnotized into having by our cartoonish overlords have long since splattered like the human-figured orange blob that slipped on a banana peel in that one "Nicktoons" bumper from the late-early/early-mid 90s. When the Nickelodeon time vault gets opened in 2042, if humanity even makes it that long, it won't be filled with the memorabilia that that dude from Back to The Future would have you believe is in it- a skateboard, a newspaper, a barbie doll, comic books, an MC Hammer CD, a container of GAK.. No - it will just be a note that reads "It's over - you didn't win, and your loss is more than you could ever know.. You lost by thinking that the game ever even began, when in fact you never even left from the start. The joke was on you the whole time, the laughs have been had, and all there is left for you to do now is weep... Oh, and by the way, we haven't done it yet, but early in the year 2000, we're going to release a movie called "Snow Day" and list Zena Grey as the actress that plays the character Natalie, but it's actually Michelle Trachtenburg, whom we're going to kidnap in 1994 and bring her five years into the future through a time machine to 1999 so that her nine year old self can be cast as a 3rd grader.. We just want to see if you notice or not..." Anyway, I hope this makes you feel better. Have a nice day!
Today felt so far away back then. Every day had so much weight and depth to it, months felt like years in a good way. Ever seen one of those youtube videos of people sneaking into those old Nickelodeon studios? It's all just abandoned. It feels so wrong, knowing all the great shows that were made there. I'm older now than my dad was when this happened. I would've 8 or 9 at the time. Sometimes I wish I could just nope out of the here and now and time travel to 1990 and live through that decade as I am now, using just enough of my knowledge of the future to get by well enough and not butterfly effect drastically change anything. Other times I wish I could send my mind back into kid me's body and relive those years, also without drastically changing anything.
Harrison Edgar Not exactly sure about that. Although, we will need to convert it and upscale it to a higher resolution....probably upscale/remaster it about 4-5 times the original resolution, seeing as how 8K technology is already growing past the prototype stages and into consumer hands. If you're talking specifically talking about the material degradation of the tape, then maybe so, but it was supposedly sealed inside the camcorder, and it was turned off, hopefully the battery hasn't corroded, nor has the tape decomposed past an operational state....

It is the year 2024 we have 18 years to go. The nostalgia here brought tears and unexplained emotions to me. I was 5years old and remember this day. I hope I'm alive to witness this opened.
Because the whole thing was little more than an advertisement for 'Gak', and they were already at Universal Studios where they already had actors portraying Doc Brown for their Back to the Future live show.
Damn 50 years is way to long they should've said 2016 over rule it n open it in my opinion cause I honestly don't think the world will make it to see 2042 itself
I sadly never saw this because my family couldn't afford cable so I never knew about the time capsule till Internet came along. But I am happy that you got this for others who either missed it or wasn't aware. Only nineteen more years to go and I'll be 58 when that time comes. XD I can't wait for capsule opening. :3
The sad part is in that video the Nick Studio is unrecognizable, they completely renovated it into basically an office building. Luckily I was able to take the tour back in 1995 and 2000 and hope some of you did the same.
Mike O'Malley was on Yes Dear in 2000 & 2010 he was made a series regular on Glee as a parent of a student. He aslo has a recurring Parenthood on NBC. Congrats to him for staying on TV this long :)
I'll be 46 and I already set myself a reminder on the iCloud :D living proof that you didn't have to grow up with this stuff to truly appreciate it and realize how much better it is than what's on now
I remember watching this on Tv when it happened. I would have been almost 7 years old. As a kid I never got to see Nickelodeon studios but now it’s not around anymore. If I’m still around or the world is still around I’ll be sure to watch them dig this up.
I will be 42 when they open it. I know I'm not a 90s kid, but I did have awesome parents that showed me stuff from the 90s. So I am a very educated person about that decade
I watched nickelodeon all the time during 2006 till about 2009 when they changed I watched disney since I was about 3 though, now they both suck s channels now. :(
I'll be 38, I was born in 2004 and I've personally been into like older stuff, like the music, clothes, and personality can show it so this stuff really fascinates me
I remember watching this when it aired. Can’t believe I even have this memory being only 5. I’ll be in my 50 when this is opened but I’ll definitely be tuning in.
I was 7 when this aired. You just had to be there in order to appreciate these times. These were the simplest times for us and everything was calm and so good. So we did things like what’s in this video and everything in here and in that time capsule did matter to us back in those days. Those were the toys we played with, music we listened to, movies we watched, and some things we learned about. We were being kids entertaining eachother or just playing by ourselves. But we had NO idea what was coming a decade later and as we became adults
Doc was right there is no more Gak lol 😂 I used to have such a crush on Joey back then. I’ve been there when they still had this place in the 90’s. 😢Sad it’s gone.
Things that happened while the Nickelodeon time capsule is currently buried. - SpongeBob SquarePants becoming Nickelodeon’s biggest and long running show for almost 25 years. - Dan Schneider shows like Drake and Josh, iCarly, and Victorious, and the creator of the shows getting fired after allegations. - The Marvel Cinematic Universe taking off. - Five Avatar films from 2009 to 2031. - DC Extended Universe - The starts of Pixar, DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, Illumination Entertainment, and Blue Sky Studios. - Adventure Time, Regular Show, and The Amazing World of Gumball debuted on Cartoon Network and ended. - Disney buying 20th Century Fox. - Streaming services on the rise. - Social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and TikTok. - UA-cam opening in 2005. - Michael Jackson passing away in June 2009. - Stephen Hillenburg passes away due to ALS. - The Twin Towers getting destroyed on September 11, 2001. - The world getting affected by the COVID pandemic. - Kobe Bryant dying in a helicopter crash. - Chadwick Boseman passes away due to colon cancer. - The Russia-Ukraine war. - The Oceangate Submarine implosion. - Twitter going downhill because of Elon Musk. Just 19 more years left.
It's been almost 30 years and we still remember, the only thing that worries me is that nickelodeon may not even exist in 2042 considering how bad the channel is now.
Just wanna comment that, its absolutely fucking wild that they put twinkies in there considering hostess nearly went out of business in 2009. Crazy to think about imo. Also the MJ CD as well, 30 years later and they're still playing his music on the radio today. Even though Hyperpop is starting to take over I wonder if they will still be playing him in 20 years or so.
I will be around 56 when they open this capsule. I grew up in this Nick era. Everyone else seems rather young, but I'm still so happy that they pay respect to Nickelodeon back when it was cool... Not only that... And I'm sure that the crew from back then thanks you all for still watching on youtube, as do I. Thank you for keeping the old Nick alive, so to speak. Hope I'm still alive when they open it. Almost positive that Gak will be hardened by then.
I just got slapped in the face with the 90s
Be thankful.

ill be exactly 50 when that opens
As of 2/15/2020, there are two months, fifteen days, and only 22 years to go. My has time flown.
It is the year 2024 we have 18 years to go. The nostalgia here brought tears and unexplained emotions to me. I was 5years old and remember this day. I hope I'm alive to witness this opened.
Im already so hyped to see them opening it
I'll be 60. Also if they couldn't get Christopher Lloyd to come show up WHY INCLUDE DOC BROWN? Blasphemy.
Because the whole thing was little more than an advertisement for 'Gak', and they were already at Universal Studios where they already had actors portraying Doc Brown for their Back to the Future live show.
Well that's a bummer
What's hilarious is Doc. Brown saying that gak won't be a thing in 50 years, and I imagine kids back then were like, "GAK IS FOREVER!!"
my god. Mike O'Malley...he was the coolest! you seriously ROCK for posting this!!
Holly Guts! This Is So Getting The Picture Good!
Damn 50 years is way to long they should've said 2016 over rule it n open it in my opinion cause I honestly don't think the world will make it to see 2042 itself
+Nirvana Cobain 👌👌👌
+monique hopson I agree. The time capsules should have been like 25 years, not 50. Its too much
+Troompa Loompa I bet you were a little angel as a perfect kid of the past.
Troompa Loompa priceless 😂
Bruh, if you think 50 years is too much, there's a time capsule in my city that's still opening in 2999.
how did they get the footage from the "kid cam" if it was "untouched"
chitownsuperfan live feed from the camera. they unplugged it when they needed the camera.
Boooooo you dumb
Your right
The sad part is in that video the Nick Studio is unrecognizable, they completely renovated it into basically an office building.
Host Of Guts?
I was wracking my brain to remember what he did later! Thank you!
@@mileypereira1378 I was just talking about the stuff he did outside of Nickelodeon.
By 2042 I'll be 48 and it will be 30 years since my high school anniversary.
I was only a year old when they did this so i honestly didnt know about this til just recently lol i will be 51 when they open it
Wow...this is simply stunning. I can't wait to see when they open this.
One thing, though...they couldn't get Christopher Lloyd to play Doc again?
I'll be 46 and I already set myself a reminder on the iCloud :D living proof that you didn't have to grow up with this stuff to truly appreciate it and realize how much better it is than what's on now
Dang you just gave me an idea.
💯
Yeah there is no gak now
I remember watching this live on TV, I want to go back to the 90's...
I remember watching this on Tv when it happened. I would have been almost 7 years old. As a kid I never got to see Nickelodeon studios but now it’s not around anymore. If I’m still around or the world is still around I’ll be sure to watch them dig this up.
I'm guessing the 13 who gave this event thumbs down work for Via-cum.
lol
I will be 42 when they open it. I know I'm not a 90s kid, but I did have awesome parents that showed me stuff from the 90s. So I am a very educated person about that decade
Me too
I watched nickelodeon all the time during 2006 till about 2009 when they changed I watched disney since I was about 3 though, now they both suck s channels now. :(
I was born the same year in 02 but still prefer 90's and early 00's better
I'll be 38, I was born in 2004 and I've personally been into like older stuff, like the music, clothes, and personality can show it so this stuff really fascinates me
I will be 59 years old in 2042.
I remember watching this when it aired. Can’t believe I even have this memory being only 5. I’ll be in my 50 when this is opened but I’ll definitely be tuning in.
I will have just turned 49 when they open it
I’m going to be 49 when it’s opened. I’m 30 now born 1991 this is going to be cool to see. God whiling I’m still alive 🙏🏽✨❤️
I remember watching this at my wealthier cousins house (I didn't have cable) when I was 7. Watching this again makes realize how old I am.
I miss the look and the aesthetic I miss it so much I really loved it and I just wish it would come back I loved 90s nick and the rest of 90s tv
Only 20 years left!
They're putting food in the time capsule...
Doc was right there is no more Gak lol 😂 I used to have such a crush on Joey back then. I’ve been there when they still had this place in the 90’s. 😢Sad it’s gone.
I'm grateful you found this video. At least we will be able to watch it in youtube in 2042
We're gonna have a higher quality recording of this when the capsule is opened in 2042
5:37 Close your eyes while listening to this part
...
Oh my
Sounds like you have done that a few times!!😁
Thank you for sharing this.
20 more years y'all🙏🏻🙏🏻
yep haha
Wait, they got a piece of the Berlin Wall in there, How did they get that?!?!
Probably they bought it
You could buy it easy back then
@@uhohhotdog really?
Lincoln McCallum yea. The wall was huge. They sold many pieces of it.
@@uhohhotdog oh that's cool

And let’s not forget the debut of The Loud House which was created by a man who fell victim to the Weinstein effect.
Oh boy. 18 Years left. I'll be 40 Years old by 2042.
They say it will be untuched yet they relocate it
nick is so lame
i know right
2002sonicfan RIP Nickelodeon 1972-2005
+2002sonicfan Relocating it is better than not reburying it.
Kashawn Chavies 2011*
Once they open it up kids those days will be like, “what is all this junk?”
Just wanna say thank god it was recorded because lot of us won’t live to see that opening
So, 22 more years. I wonder if anyone is keeping track.
18 years to go!!
So if there's Now gak, doc brown saved us!
Damn, the only comment of 2019 and probably 2018, is someone really going to remember this? I hope so...
It's been almost 30 years and we still remember, the only thing that worries me is that nickelodeon may not even exist in 2042 considering how bad the channel is now.
I’m still here and I’ll remember.
@@rednam2915 . Pretty sure they didn't exist!! I know autocorrect 😆
@@Jayandhis25cents hahaha fixed
Oh for sure I got you in 2021
I will be 30 years old after Nickelodeon capsule is opened
I am 35 - I know I'm still young, but I was a young kid when I watched this be buried. I hope I'm alive long enough to watch this be opened too.
You will , you’ll only be like 55
man i'll be 51 in the year 2042 wow that's along time away
Justin Brannan it’s now 2020. You still alive man?
Is it even still there? The studio was closed.
No
+Giancarlo13 :P yeah it did. Look it up
+Pixikid And Then Moved To The Under Construction Animation Building In Burbank
There should have put Dan Schnider in there
Hard to believe that I was born 4 months before this aired.
I was 10. Now I’m 40. I’ll be 60.
Happy 30th anniversary to this day! 20 more years until this baby is open...
I remember watching this on live TV with my brother when I was 6. I'm now 32 and I'll be 56 when it's opened; we're already over half way there.
The weird thing is children are actually children instead of growing up too fast.
It’s crazy how we’re closer to 2042 than to 1992
Crazy. Watching this feels like yesterday.
it's been 32 years today since they did this, 18 more years to go until it will be opened
