What a LEGEND...I LOVE 50s / 60s Jazz / Blues/ Soul singers. I also love Shirley Bassey, Nancy Wilson, Eartha Kitt, Ketty Lester, Darlene Love, Etta James, Mahalia Jackson plus many many more.
When/if I get to heaven I hope to see my parents, friends and the ultra mega talented Ms. Ella Fitzgerald. God blessed the world when he created ELLA FITZGERALD. It's 2022 and the world has lost its mind and we need another Ella, Sarah and Billie, not to mention all the other talented musicians from Ella's Era. We miss you dearly Ella. Rest easy for you more than deserve it.
@@redwingfan9393 Absolutely, sublime. I wonder if she and Judy, ever performed this together? That would be a treat also . Anyways this is magnificent, and Thank you 🙏 Ella 😇must wow the other Souls, in the Heaven’s.
one of Ellas staples....but if you want to hear an even better version go watch her sing this on Sinatras tv special from the late 60's..... The Incomparable Ella Fitzgerald...
I’m not sure that’s true because we don’t really know what’s out there. The real certainty is that it gets no exposure on our TV sets or radios. Who knows what talent goes unappreciated and unknown? This was 1963. Ella first got attention at the age of 17 at an Amateur Night at the Apollo in 1934. By 1938, she had a huge hit with A-Tisket, A-Tasket. A person can start with some raw talent, but you don’t get to this level by singing in the shower. She learned from singing with other musicians and playing countless nights at clubs and then on the radio. Careers are built one step at a time. She sang 30 more years after this before retiring in 1993.
Ella Fitzgerald on "Compact Jazz" (the first Verve re-issues) - one of the first Jazz CD's I ever purchased. It's got the studio version of this tune with Louis Armstrong on trumpet AND vocals. Roy Haynes is also on it.
There was a clip of Dorothy Dandridge on the Biography Channel and they showed a clip of her singing a song on the Ed Sullivan Show. I think it was called Get Some Love. The words was "Mmm keeps it humming. Oooh and a strompin. Love yes it will, yes it will. I know it will. But from where I'm unlooking..Turn up the heat and start some cookin. Get..Get Get some Love. If Loving comes your way, and if you find a love that your Wild about. Someone you cant live without. Bait your hook and get that cracking. Let Good, Goood. Let The Good Things Happen" if anyone knows this clip and is Dying to see it. Please Like and respond👍🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤❤❤❤
Ella remains the best female jazz singer of all time.
No, she ist totally overrated. Btw the scatting is simply terrible. This title belongs to Billie Holiday!
@@monicabella7894 Ella has a great voice, but focuses on the notes, not the story. Billie Holiday was the best for sure.
Wow! Wow! Scat singing masterpiece.

The Queen of Scat!
Talent that no longer exists in our society today.

She's no Cardi B. Thank the Lord!
Fantastic
Just real raw talent no half necked twerking girls or electronics or people swinging from a chandelier back when music was all about the music. ❤❤❤
Lindo ella cantando savoy
That Lady❤.. Miss you so much.. And I see you Whitney.. Miss you both

PLEASE RELEASE SOME OF DOROTHY DANDRIDGE PERFORMANCES ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤❤❤
In a class all by herself but did not earn the money she should have. Better than the young singers of today.
