Hi Michael, thank you for taking the time to reply. I did try the meter for continuity and there was a problem. I watch the above video and took the horns off the BMW Z3 and tested as above video. There was no sound, so thinking the horns were caput, I drove to a scrap yard and brought two more horns for £10. Drove home and tested as the above video and no sound. I also own an MGB with the horns working so I took one off and tested as the above video. It didn't work so reattached it to the MGB and the horn worked. Put the original horns back on the Z3 and they worked. It is what you call a mystery. However, though this all took an awful lot of time, it did show that the above video on horn testing did not work for me. All the best, Paul.

Hi recently bought a e60 530d and realised the lead was disconnected behind the steering airbag.. Airbag needed replacing anyway. But when connected in.. horn stays on and even after a replacement airbag part has been put in also changed the clock spring ring im stuck 😬
Hi Guys, I tried testing 6 horns the way you suggested, connecting directly to a 12v battery. Four of them BMW and 2 from a 1975 MGB. All six horns work perfectly when fitted to the cars. Not one of them honked when connected directly to the 12v battery. All I am saying is, your horn test did not work for me. I did get led astray by following your video which cost me a day before I found it was the BMW horn push on the steering wheel.
@@paulhoward4981 WHy not just use a power probe and do it. How would this take you half a day? a Horn just needs power and ground so if you feed a Horn power and ground it will Blow...

Shorted Contact, Shorted Wire, bad Switch or Bad Module.
Mine acts the same way but after a couple of pumps it honks.
