I had to click through so many videos of people showing it with a wrong guitar Tuning (Standard Tuning). Finally someone doing it how it is actually played by the band. Thanks a lot for this Andy!
I think of all versions I've seen you've tabbed it the most accurate, no one else plays it in Drop C#, good job mate! Finally I can play it like Biffy does
brilliant video man cant fault it at all had it done in 10 mins. really pisses me off when you see fools posting negative comments and all you are doing is spending your free time trying to help others play. anyway like i said great video keep up the great work :)
@soullesplain I'm picking the top E with my pick and then playing the other strings with my middle and third fingers (or you can use thumb and index & middle fingers if you don't want to use your pick). The first few chords of each phrase are picked at the smae time on the E and G strings only and then for the held chord, I am plucking between the E, D and G strings. I can't say I'm playing that part exactly the same as the record but the important thing is to get the open D string ringing.
thanks a lot andy, i found this to be very helpful , and i commmend you for using the proper tuning. many videos have the eb tuning but fail to mention the dropped top string to c sharp. cheers
@lSuLLyl As you asked me so nicely; you will notice that there are letters and numbers shown in the annotations on the screen, which tell you where to put yare "fukin fingers". The letter is the string name and the number is the fret, so if I say E6 that is E string, 6th fret. If you don't know your basic string names then you may struggle (they're EADGBE - thickest to thinnest).
i really wanna play guitar, but i find it hard tolearn :(, and your teaching is very good i watched this loadsa time and i can now play many of horror :D thank you so much
Nice job. Having just watched their performances carefully on UA-cam, the only real difference is the first line of the chorus - he plays a bass note on the 'E' string at the 12th fret.
@k1ll3rshot Thanks for your comment. My lessons are aimed at people that have the basics of guitar playing down already (i.e. know which string is which and understand some basic terminology). It also helps to have a good ear to be able to hear what is going on as well as to see it . Real beginners may struggle with some of my lessons songs but I'm sure that they will get a benefit when they have a little more experience. Thanks for the compliment (always gratefully accepted :-).
Monkey See did cover this and Bubbles too, but my video camera has not been working for a few months now so we never recorded a version. Maybe Santa will bring me a new camera for Christmas? :-)
It's not too complicated (as I'm not too smart :-). The letter is the string name and the number is the fret, so if I say E6 that is E string, 6th fret. If you don't know your basic string names then you may struggle (they're EADGBE - thickest to thinnest). Hope this helps.
@johnjohndrum Hi, The annotations show which strings I am fretting and playing (e.g. E9D7 means that I am fretting the E string at the 9th fret and D string at the 7th). The only strings I fret are the E and G for the verses (with the open D string being played as a pedal note, ringing throughout). Hope this helps.
@mattcoulton43 Would love to do more Biffy (especially Bubbles) but my video camera has been dead for about the last year and I haven't had the spare cash to buy a new one. Will do soon though and then I'll be back posting tutorials again.
cheers for the vid Andy. was wondering why it was tuned to c# not d# but you answered that. did Monkey See ever cover this.? And also, I see on your channel you do Snow by RHCP....ever thought of Wet Sand from same album.?...Regards....
Sound could be better, still the video shows how to play the song and that's what's needed! Thanks. I play it without the C# drop. Unless there's an habit to play like this, we never use the open C# or D in the song so I didn't see the use. But indeed it's with the drop that Simon plays it. Cheers.
@soullesplain Then if you are sure the tuning sounds the same as on my video and you are following the annotations on the screen for the strings and frets to play, then you can only trust your ears and try to identify one string at a time what might be causing you to think that you're out of tune. At the end of the day, your ears are the best judge. Have a look at my recent comment post here too to Johnjohndrum as that might help? Hope you work it out.
Sorry, no idea. Might be worth checking to see if they have something posted on UA-cam for it that you can get some clues from? I would suspect from the sound of his guitar on most of their tracks though that they probably do detune or use drop tunings a lot of the time.
@soullesplain If you mean the notes don't sound right, check your tuning to make sure that it is as I've said here at the start of the video as this is not played in standard tuning. If your tuning is right, it should still sound good on an acoustic. Hope that helps.
The guitar is a Gibson Les Paul GT. It was a hot rodded Les Paul they did a short production of few years ago. Looks pretty sexy, but it does not sound so good (actually, the sound I got on this video was pretty poor generally). The amp is my Marshall MG50 DFX, run clean and with a flat EQ. Most of the sound on all my videos is from my Zoom 8080 Superplayer floor multi-effects.
@andybltt i did the tuning everything right but it just doesnt sound right i think maybe i put my fingering wrong ( even thoug im sure its right ) i have a built in tuner in my guiatr so the tuning is right ffor sure
how the hell do you know its in a different tuning it surpasses me how people know that and can learn a song .i can only learn if im showed what to do lol //awesome mate
Not bad, but you've got the bridge a little bit wrong, and when you're playing the chorus, it's different and a more complicated way to the way Simon actually does it. It might help people who want to learn to play it if you actually tell them where and what you're playing, etc.

great tabs. Nice and simple and sound great . thanks.
Renegades!!!!! Gotta love 'em, saw them in Glasgow on the first tour at the beginning of the year. :D Also, thanks for the lesson - love this song.
I wondered which original made a cover of... its a nice tutorial, Well done..
finally someone does a good tutorial of this song

Dude that was awesome! thank you so much for posting this :)
Can you do more Biffy songs?
English person! Yayyyy, there is hardly anyone from England on UA-cam, but we rule ;)
Nice job. Having just watched their performances carefully on UA-cam, the only real difference is the first line of the chorus - he plays a bass note on the 'E' string at the 12th fret.

nice lesson pal awesome ,
Thanks for the comment. I noticed that myself, which is why I decided to post this to show people how the band themselves play it.

This may inspire me to pick up my old axe this week.....

@andybltt what do u mean by ringing ( like ive been playing guitar and i think im decent i know the basics and stuff )
@andybltt i did the tuning everything right but it just doesnt sound right i think maybe i put my fingering wrong ( even thoug im sure its right ) i have a built in tuner in my guiatr so the tuning is right ffor sure
Just saying, it's officially called "Many of Horror (When we collide)" I have the album "Only Revelations" so I thought I'd just point it out!
how the hell do you know its in a different tuning it surpasses me how people know that and can learn a song .i can only learn if im showed what to do lol //awesome mate

@GHWTisthebest Don't you know all us bald fellas look the same! :-) I'm told I look like some guy from the Chris Moyles Radio1 show a lot too.

*Many of Horror (When We Collide)
Biffy doesnt play it in C# its just D#
