    Thanks for sharing, I'm still really impressed that the Octatrack after a decade (with almost zero revisions) is still as popular as it ever was and is even still upgraded by Elektron. I've never seen anyone use it in the way you are which is so cool. Its given me a bunch of ideas of using some xone k2's with it. I had always used scenes as a way to modulate parameters but your method is more precise.

    Amazing display of enhancing your live set up.
    You just took the OT to another level with your controlled cockpit.
    You’re explanation was precise
    Thank you. 🙏
    I have the Kenton Control Freak, would mapping it be as much fun ???

    this is very informative, thank you for sharing. can see how useful the pc12 would be in any octatrack config.
    would love to see some kind of sheet with each knob config once you land on a permanent setup.

    Typical octatrack moment at 15:35 xD "What was that? I dont know".
    Thanks for this vid. Thought it is a bit more about how to set up midi cc. But great ideas!

    This is super useful, thank you for sharing all your thoughts and tips! I have Octatrack MKII for some time now but always felt like I am limited by the menu diving / limited amount of pots so Faderfox PC12 seems like a fantastic solution and luckily grabbed one and awaiting delivery, also got Perfourmer MKII recently so will be exploring this setup following some of your great tips and advise, thank you for sharing your knowledge with others, keep up the great work!

    Once you turn a bunch of knobs and aren't sure what you've changed, I think you can just recall the saved settings from the PC12 that will instantly send the saved parameter data back onto the octatrack. Can you really map to the Vermona? I have one and thought it wasn't able to receive CC. I'll have to research that again...

    Great video, interesting to see. How did you quickly map each button? Is it as simple as assigning a midi cc value? Wondering how that process works on the faderfox.

    I'm not sure, but I think that in "snap mode" (blue button) the value jump is avoided. On the other hand, pressing the red button while rotating a pot temporarily suppresses sending data. Thx. Cheers

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  3 роки тому

      yes that is true. The issue is when you move stuff in the octa, then the PC doesnt know what happened to the value unless you send midi information from octa to pc

    Love the PC12 - I am working on a similar setup and also trying to solve the knob jump scenario you mention at 9:30 Did you determine a different solution than just dealing with the unwanted jump? (endless encoders are better for just using ears to season to taste without knob switch glitches)

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  3 роки тому

      the only way is to create a midi loop, otherwise you need just to be careful and reset positions by hand

    • @bartondisplay
      @bartondisplay 3 роки тому +2

      Doesn't the faderfox have two functions on how the knobs behave? I'm pretty sure I just saw that in Loopop's video. You can program the knobs to only respond when the value catches up with its previous setting. Or am I missing the point?

    • @blackboxorchestra
      @blackboxorchestra 3 роки тому +2

      @@bartondisplay A little time and homework uncovered what you’re describing. Its called “snap” mode rather than the immediate value being sent and altering the setting immediately “jump mode”. Much better in snap mode although you still may experience lag until you find the value. With so many knobs that can be an issue on its own

    @OoraMusic I was wondering if you could use the octatrack software editor to map midi to other devices, or does the software editor only change midi parameters on the octatrack itself? I have the Allen and Heath Xone 4D ( lots of midi pots and faders ) and was wonder if I could map the octatrack to the midi sections of the 4D mixer? Allen and Heath says it can be mapped to any software, but I dont think directly from a device like you showing in this video. Id love to know if anyone has an idea. Thank you !

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  3 роки тому

      If it has a midi cc map then you can control it with the octa, and that would make it super fun for sure! octa is a beast when you map things out!

    What is your OT Auto - control channel (midi ch 9 or 11? because the TR8 is 10 unless you changed), particular asking because i can't make my PC12 make mute/unmute Midi Channels as i do for Audio Tracks.. You obviously got that right.. so what is the midi command you send from the PC12? Apart from the mystery thats the first useful video for the PC12+OT out there so far. well done!

    • @designerfuzzi
      @designerfuzzi 3 роки тому

      Oh found it! ... not very prominent in the Elektron Manual.. To control Midi Track Mute/Unmute on the OT you send on your chosen Midi Auto Channel (mine is 9) CC#112-119 for Midi Track 1-8.
      for a Midi AutoChannel 09 in your OT you should have PC as follows..
      b09: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, [CC#] n112, [values] L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 01
      b10: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, n113, L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 02
      b11: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, n114, L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 03
      b12: Std, CC, TOGL, Ch09, n115, L001, U000 -> controls OT Midi Track 04
      to make it work..
