If my brother abandoned me in that situation, I would want him too. He will go get help with his last strength and bring it back to me, or at least try.
I totally agree, and if I couldn’t be saved, I would not want my brother or sisters (which ever I was with) to die because they didn’t want to leave me. It would be awful.

Such dangerous place to hiking. Hiking in canyons suck no happiness, no enjoyment just pure hell. Hope it was worth it for you both because this looks like hell. Go to the beach next time.
