Thanks Richard, for the excellent video series on front-control Frigidaire/Kenmore washers and dryers. They were of particular help to me because the parts supplier I purchased from only has videos of the rear control models.
Many people on the Internet find these belts almost impossible to install because of the amount of stretching required. They report using zip ties or a second person to hold the belt on the drum pulley. My new belt was slipping off the pulley many degrees sooner than yours did, and I reached the point where I just didn’t want to use any more force, fearing I would over-stress the belt or bearings.
In the spirit of your tagline “help people anyway I can”, I offer this safe and easy method of installing a new drive belt. Fill a large diameter pot with several inches of water and heat on the stove until a meat thermometer reads 180 F. Turn off the heat and wait for the temp to drop to 175. Drop the belt in, soak for 5 minutes, remove and pat dry. The belt will go on with one hand - no damage to the new belt or bearings and no barked knuckles.

Many thanks for the detailed video. You made my day. I cancelled the new washer ordered for £229 (Candy). Your video, 2 carbon brushes on eBay and my labour did the trick. Thanks again.

Hey, thanks! I watched several good videos on this but their technique just didn’t work for me, but I was immediately able to get my washer belt on after watching this.

Wow, you really have a diversity of skills. And I appreciate your DIY spirit. I've mostly learned that way myself before finding youtube's technical value. Your videos contain insightful info without a lot of fluff & pointless repeating. Thanks for taking the time to post. Peace & good health to you & yours always, Sir!

You are most welcome. I will be doing further video's on this machine in the near future as I know brushes on the motor are near the end and I have done a work around fix on them already. I have ordered the brushes and I am waiting on them to be delivered. Stay tuned for that repair. I appreciate your kind comments. Thank you and all the best.

When putting the belt back on the drum, I saw on another video that you could use a zip tie once you just get it started on the big pulley, which will hold it on the big pulley for you as turn the pulley. The new belt will be very tight.

Hi Richard, Kudos for a very well done DIY video. One question: while you have the back of the machine off, would it not be wise to put a little lubricating oil on the moving parts? Thanks.

You can do this repair, if the washing machine is unplugged! In order to avoid injury or anything else.
The belt wears out because it looses carbon fiber like carbon brushes in the motor for example, when the belt loses carbon fiber, it slips.

Help! No matter how we set up the belt on the motor, it's unaligned and keeps coming off. If we leave it on the last indentation, it comes off after a couple manual revolutions. If we leave it sticking off the side by one indentation, it comes off mid-cycle after a couple washing cycles. It seem the drum pulley and the motor are unaligned, and that there's no setting on the motor that makes the belt aligned with the drum.

I have the same model. Replaced the belt and still get squeaking during the agitation cycle. I discovered no squeaking if the machine is empty. Appreciate your videos and any thoughts on this problem.

The belt slips off no matter what. Do I need to replace the flywheel?

If you have a Kenmore 417.41042000 with an OEM hutchinson 13405100 belt, the correct replacement is an LB295 Supco Washer Drive Belt. Not A 134051000.

My washer squealed, and squeaked for a long while before it stopped spinning when you put it to wash. I found the driver belt slipped off into a corner in the washing machine. I found on YT how to fix the belt, but still can't as the new one is shorter than the old. I need help!

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  3 роки тому +1

I thought mine was too short too. But I managed to get it to fit in the video. Watch how I put it on. If it is FAR too short you may have ordered the incorrect replacement belt. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

My drum pulley broke. I think the belt was too short. Can you tell me If I have to buy a longer belt? Can I lift the motor up a bit to adjust?

No its a different machine. The belt i bought was black one and not of good quality... i contacted the company and the technician brought another belt and pulley.

Hello from a fellow Texan! Hope you have an idea or two for me. I have substantially the same machine by Kennmore. After about 16 years of trouble-free service, the drum has locked. I cannot turn it physically at all -- maybe 15 to 20 lbs pressure moves it not a centimeter. No odd or loud noises, nothing. It fills, it drains, I hear either a very quiet motor (not under load) or a relay running when it should be turning -- since it turns in both directions, I hear that sound "spin up", stop, and "spin up" again at the times that it should be changing direction, if it were turning. I've been through your videos (all, I think) on this machine, but this is not a problem you've had to address. Any ideas? I've never heard of a bearing freezing up without lots of warning noise. Appreciate any thoughts you might have to offer, when you have a moment. The machine is in a very tight, mostly inaccessible spot, with a dryer on top of it, so I'm NOT looking forward to dragging it out!
