- When the thrash metal band Metallica started out making albums in their early years, none of their singles had a promotional video to accompany them. By the time 1988's "..And Justice for All" was released, their policy against making music videos changed, leading to the creation of the video "One". This episode of "Music Video Time" discusses the history of creating the video and its production, along with the act buying the rights to an obscure movie that was pivotal to the song and the band's monstrous success for decades to come.

19:27 - Yup, I'm pretty sure they have sold over 125 albums worldwide.
19:18: This streak has since ended as 72 Seasons only peaked at 2 in the United States though it still reached number 1 in a number of other countries
I still remember watching this video for the first time, on an AV cart at school. A bunch of metalhead friends were in the multimedia room at lunch and put this into the VCR. I remember thinking it was too long, and ew, Black and White.... but I was also fascinated by the story. They combined the footage well enough that we all thought they had shot the "movie" for the video. It really works well together.
I’ve loving your channel so far, man!
Thank you so much. This video really had me pull out the stops. But it gave me a chance to watch Johnny Got His Gun, which I highly recommend.
I saw the movie as a kid but remembered it as 2 diff ones - I love the western part, it's so fun. The video makes the song much better. They should have recorded it with the movie's sound, like Pink Floyd.
For The Algorithm!
Man Lars is dense sometimes.
Sadly music videos are no longer culturally relevant. What a unique artform.
