    Lath is simply the first step in the stucco process.
    This fella, Dave, learned to "lath" simply by watching and paying attention or retaining what he saw and heard.
    Was Dave's lath perfect? No, but very close to it.
    Thus, we added a few touches, but he did save the cash and had fun attaching the paper and wire. (Lathing) Perhaps you can, too? Then call us to apply the stucco. Call us if you are not interested in learning to lath or want to.
    More Lathing tips are below.
    • Stucco lathing. Install Stucco lath quickly.
    • How to lath stud walls... Lath a stud wall using self-furred paperback.
    • How to attach stucco n... Stucco staple or furring nails to attach wire.
    • Roof-to-wall flashing ... Stucco lathing wall to roof and magical whiskers
    • Stucco roof-to-wall fl... Roof flashing metal saddles.
    • Stucco staples guns te... Make sure your guns work properly or each staple can rip the paper.
    Thanks for watching.

      Howdy Mr. Nest Dude, I'll do better than that and send a video with the exzact size and an explanation as to why this trowel will be their best selling trowel in little time. Jason and I will even introduce it to folks on video. Cheers. ua-cam.com/video/X_SRyTIVMbU/v-deo.html/ Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc.

    Kirk I love your videos. I’ve used them to do a lot of repairs on my house because I couldn’t find a contractor who was knowledgeable about stucco and weep screed. I have a flat roofed house and the weep screed was covered over with foam roofing material, resulting in leaks. Most contractors look at it and think it’s the roof material leaking, when it’s actually the walls. I’ve come to enjoy stucco work after watching your videos. Cheers! And thanks from Arizona!

    Thanks kirk😊 for showing us how to do the corner bead.
    I see that you use sika flex polyurethane caulk where the paper meets the wood. And on top of that electrical box.
    Would you ever put caulk around nails and nail holes so that water won’t go thru the tar paper. Thus making it super waterproof. Thanks. ❤

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  9 місяців тому

      Good evening Kepler, the caulking is used to fuse the paper to wood or metal rings this way the rain won't penetrate and enter the walls. If you have broken the paper with guns that have broken bumpers that push the staple too bust through the paper creating tears, fix you guns and absolutely caulk every penetration. Staple guns should just hold the wire on and not rip the wire and paper let alone go beneath the plywood. I have seen this way too many times with folks who have no clue as to using a staple gun with broken plastic bumpers. In fact I have done a video on this subject. Good question, brother.ua-cam.com/video/t1Kq8K9F5Fo/v-deo.html/👨🏻‍🔬

    • @keplerandpascal
      @keplerandpascal 9 місяців тому

      Thanks Kirk for the reply. So definitely caulk all tears in the tarpaper. And where the staple gun made a hole in the tarpaper. Just wanted to see if you also put caulking on top of each nail. Or staple. Since that is a penetration point in the tarpaper.
      Thanks again for all of the videos.

      @StuccoPlastering  9 місяців тому

      @@keplerandpascal I'm not talking about staples that are attaching the stucco netting, those are fine, I'm talking about what I see often, a gun with broken bumpers that the tongue of the staples forces the staple past the original paper and even burying the staple in the
      plywood. Watch the video I sent you, as what I'm talking about is advanced and can't be explained by words alone to a beginner.👨🏻‍🔬

    Where do you buy your shirt from?

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  9 місяців тому +2

      Howdy Andy, from the Salvation Army stores, Doubtful I ever paid more than two bucks for a shirt in the last 35 years. When I worked with the union behind a tommy gun, the sprayed on stucco would hit the walls then splatter all over use, the Lye from that stucco would dissolve our shirts and burn our skin. Who wants to pay real money for work clothes. Cheers.👨🏻‍🔬 Tip brother, find out what day is half off for clothes and pick up a bunch for cheap.🕵🏼

    Why is Lathe not needed for concrete block?

    • @avisitorhere
      @avisitorhere 9 місяців тому +1

      My answer would be because concrete will suck the stucco into it creating a mechanical bond. And remember to always wet your concrete first. But wait for the expert answer.

      I usually put some corners or diamond lath if they want certain radius on the corners
      And if I need to stick out more than what it’s suppose to be 7/8

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  9 місяців тому

      Excellenta question. It's not needed for concrete, bricks or any kind of block walls weather cinder or concrete. Stucco will adhere stronger with a mechanical bond, any kind of metal wire impedes this bond. Naturally you have to clean the concrete wall well enough to eat off. Then you wet it, the stucco is applied to that wet surface, they weld tighter than most marriages. If you apply a bonding agent to the wall, than stucco this is called a chemical bond. It's all explained in detail in this video. ua-cam.com/video/dw34VLYFC1Y/v-deo.html/👨🏻‍🔬

      Are you a PITA person? Why do you feel Kirk should spend time teaching you the history of plastering? If you're really interested in the plastering trade, why don't you do your own research? I kinda like the old school mic he uses so who are you to make him feel bad and change his equipment to suit you?
