Oh really?! This is what I find exciting about the tech, constantly improving it. My E-bike is still a pretty weighty 500wh battery so it’s come a long way in the last few years. Thanks for the info 🤘🏻
It’s a fantastic bike, I have the medium size and I love it, only downside to medium is it’ll only take the 720wh battery and if you have the coil rear you can’t fit the range extender, Great video, and a Great bike.
Most of the people I ride with are on 750 batteries and they always seem to be about the same whenever we do a decent ride, it’s on par with them so it’s perfect in that respect. 👍🏼
@@jaydub308 thank you so much! I didn’t try it as I was just getting my head round it all. Never used anything like it but it’s super cool. I’m sure it will get to the US soon and hopefully they develop it more and more! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Really interested in pinion bikes . No maintenance is appealing. New cassettes etc can coast a bomb . It's just the price of them at the moment that's putting me off . Got a focus jam2 which I'm loving .
I totally agree! I also love how you don’t get the noise from the chain slap, just makes the bike feel more solid. As you say it’s a very expensive system but hopefully if more of that technology comes out it will become more affordable. Nice bike too, I looked at the focus Jam 🤘🏻
@@RomboutVersluijs In terms of an electric bike the motor provides assistance to make it easier to ride, allowing you to do more riding. They are good fun but not for everyone
@@JayHurstMtb thanks! Bizarre how they hold up in these rides. Are these hubs also uses ng plastic gears or are these different material? Scenery looked amazing!
@@RomboutVersluijsYeah they are pretty solid and have come a long way in technology. Also a lot of protection placed around the motor. All gears are metal as well for better strength
Hi guys, my two pennies...... I test rode the Nicolai MGU great bike for me, BUT and its a massive but and people aren't really talking about this is the drone it makes in 1-4 gears while pedalling it is appalling, yes my ebike Bosch gen4 cx does make some noise whilst pedalling but nothing to the drone the MGU makes. This is IMHO the only draw back for the MGU systems ATM and i most people will use there £10k bike to pedal up stuff so you cant get away from it. That is the only reason why i didn't buy one!
@@nickcook2002 Yes you make a very fair point, I should have mentioned this in the video. The system is super cool but it is loud when you pedal, especially in the lower gears. Hopefully that’s something that will soon be developed to be quieter as some other e bikes motors are becoming really quiet 🤘🏻
The models for next year will have either 800Wh or 1060Wh, same size same weight due to them using the newest Li-Ion cells

Awesome review Jay! And cool intro music man. Loved it

What do you think to the Simplon bike and more so that gearbox drive?!

Thank you so much, it is an awesome Bike! Didn’t realise that regarding sizing all the 720 battery must still be plenty of range!

PINION MGU RULES
Awesome review. I want the mgu not sure when we will get it in the US. Did you try auto shift?

@ I can imagine. I'm super impressed especially with how quiet it is.

I've been enjoying mine.
I've made a 3d print plug for the battery keyhole
Awesome, which model have you got? Great idea on the plug, cleans it up 🤘🏻
I've got the Simplon rapcon pinion in medium. If anyone wants the plug, it's over on maker world.
How does a motor help in these instances, i mean these bikes get hammered, does the engine really do anything? Never tried a MTB with motor

Cost and availability? I'm in the states. Thanks
@@patdennehy8564 it’s around €8500. Doesn’t seem to be any dealers in the states currently but I’m sure you could get it shipped over
