Currywurst: Is not always a bratwurst. It depends on which federal state you are in. The production of the sauce is also different. The original curry sauce was invented in Berlin.
In Frankfurt, a pork sausage and a beef sausage are used.
In Lower Saxony it is a currywurst sausage. Volkswagen makes over a million of them with Volkswagen Curry Sauce. If you go on a car manufacturing plant tour, you can eat in the restaurant in the Autostadt.

But afaik there are two kind of germans when it comes to butter/margarine: Those who put butter and Nutella on their bread roll and those who use just Nutella without butter. And Germans are also „divided“ into butter vs. margarine. I like both, but I use margarine on a daily basis. Butter on the other hand is a must for Mettbrötchen. 🤤🤤🤤

I am German and when I fist moved to England over 40 years ago I missed bread the most. English bread than was a tasteless disgrace. Only fit to be toasted to disguise the fact there was no taste to it.But luckily things have changed and I can buy my german style rye bread any were now.

I don't need Fleischsalat, Schorle, Currywurst, Bier, Wurst or Sauerkraut in my life, I'm not a vegerarian, not anti-alcoholic or anything special, I just don't crave it.
But I do use Butter for baking (not so much on my Brötchen).
Kohl is also not my favorite food, except Rotkohl and Chinakohl. But that doesn't mean that I eat it all the time - maybe once or twice a year.
Fresh bread is wonderful, but no reason to go crazy about it. Döner.... eehm yesno...better without Fladenbrot as a Dönerbox and not too often.

I can’t stand meat, potato or herring salad. The only salads with mayo that I eat are egg, pasta or Tuna salad, but only with a low-fat mayo. I do love Schorle, Currywurst, Bratwurst, but I can live without, I only eat that stuff a couple of times in the year. I hated Sauerkraut when I was growing up, but that’s maybe because they couldn’t get it right in the UK. I learned to like it a little better after I moved to Germany, but it’s not something I eat regularly. I lived in Cyprus in the 60s, and meat (souvlakia) was served in pita bread, so that has actually been around for a long time. I don’t eat a lot of meat, I variate between meat and vegetarian substitutes. The bread is awesome and probably the only thing I really miss when I’m abroad.

1: Yes (ok what is a normal Salat LOL ) Yeah, creamy yeah hmm delcius .... and no a Shrip Cocktail nope, no salat at all but DAME (imagine that like Fluffe say it, Southern Style) very good
2: Yuup, Butter a must be. No not Brötchen, Semmel (Southern German Word for Brötchen) (Ö Ü Ä ... dificult that why i learnd my US Wife Semmel)
3: Yeah, a lot of us like it, but not all. But you 2 forgot Wein Schorle 😉😋
4: Nope Curry Wurst is the Red Bratwurst and it didn´t have to be cut in smalle pieces, it can be still the whole thing but with smalle cuts in it. The change was only VW Fakturies decidet, in some cantiens to get rip of it (Vagan Stuff Bla bla bla BS). The secret ist the souce (Kinda Curry CAT(lol)chup Tomate Curry Souce.
BUT The Currywurst is les popular in the south of Germany. There is it more like Leberkäs Fleischpflanzel (Bullete) Semmel (Don`t even think about to ask in Bavaria, in a Bavarien Metzgerei to ask for eine Leberkäs Fleischpflanzel Brötchen LOL 😋😎)
5: JUUP a have to be to some food, but not to all Stuff
6: Juup LOL Orange Kohl we still missing, but a good idea. And nope not every week, it´s may a familie thing.
7: Juup but some region prefare Wine
8: ja Döner, all over, yes a german one, from Berlin, from a Turkisch man. And that is correct was you said. (Fun Fact, my US Wife like them so much, think even better as every Burger)
9: Juup Mett counts as Wurst (more or less grounded meat from the Pork but not boild, may a bit steamt) Spread on a Bread, Semmel, ... with onions (rings) on is a bit of salt and pepper, ... yummy
10: jeah good bread, (not like the cheap US Sandwitch/Toast bread) (yhea we like sandwich and toast but it is more stiff and in variations, sourdough, Darkbread, Whithbred (but not the toast white bread is what a mean), Kürpiskern (pumpkinseed) Bread, .... i think we have more as 100 variations
    .
What you missed (in no particular Order:
Schweinbraten mit Knödel (Kartoffel oder Semmel)
    Eisbein
    Königsberger Klopse
    Sauerbraten
    Schweinehaxe
Kartoffelsalt with öl or with mayo (it´s a own food group by it self ;-) )

I don't know why I didn't stumble across this vid earlier - because I love your synergy and your videos in general - but this one escaped me far too long ^^
Sooooo I am late to the party (not very german, is it? ^^)
But after watching this vid I feel even less like a german ^^°
    I can live without:
Fleischsalat, Butter, Sauerkraut, Kohl (Kohlrabi is nice though ^^), Bier, Döner (I seldomly eat one. Maybe every two to three years)
What I clearly can't live without though is "Spezi" (a very german thing ^^) and "Fischfrikadellen" (well, I AM from the north ^^)
By the way - Döner is really invented by a turkish shop owner in germany because of the circumstances here and the turkish guest workers we had back then. It is a bit like american cheesecake which is invented by germans in the US because they had no "Quark" and took what they head to archieve something more or less comparable.
Oh and - I noticed the part "we gonna cut that out - obviously" and the quite ... dry responded "no" is a very german thing too, isn't it? ^^

My mother (Irish descent) and Dad (German) had a small convenience store and made a meat salad from the left-over ends of lunch meats and with mayo and spices. It was a favorite item in their store.

I prefer sour cream and minced eggs in salad. Mayonaise has a foreign spicy flavor of mustard or something like that. Getting sour cabbage back from market is a pain because the saltwater goes through LDPE bags. It's a seasonal food too, usually I eat it in fall and winter. No more flesh or brot for me. Putin's war has doubled the prices. Especially for bread.
