Tempo are the best!!! I really missed them when I was living in Uk but now that I'm Germany when I saw the shelf at the supermarket full of any kind of Tempo it made me smile big, it confirmed I'm in the right place! 😆😆
I got a job offer from Germany and I was pretty nervous about moving to a country that I know nothing about. Thanks to your channel I'm more confident about moving there. All of your videos are amazing!
I have a deuter backpack for 20 years, when freshly washed (in the machine) he is like new. Keine Naht offen nix.
I did not know about that oinment and one of the biggest hurdles I've had since coming here is dealing with dry and chapped lips. Thanks guys for sharing this knowledge with us internationals!
We have an analog of Bepanthen in Bengal, it's called Boroline. A must have for every bengali. I carried a small stock when I moved to Germany. Also, I'd efinitely give Buko a try! Thanks for the amazing content. Tschüß.
Oh, absolutely - Bepanthen is THE thing! I learned about it when I did an intership in a childeren's hospital - they used it for everything from diaper rash to chicken pocks. I mainly use it for dry spots from my sensitive skin or for dry lips in winter. Though I am an avid hiker, I so far never had a Deuter backpack - my husband had a Vaude one and a Mamut. I should maybe invest in a "vernüftige" Version though...
Just moved to Germany from South America and couldn’t be happier I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now! Thanks for all the info, it’s been very very helpful 💘
Hey, I also have multiple bag packs cheap and quality and all of them have a rain cover in the bottom pocket. My oldest & cheapest (ALDI) bag back is now used for tools/craft. My quality Deuter bag pack (30L) is most comfortable to carry because of its airy and arc shaped backside, but it misses inner pockets / pouches as other city/business bag packs do have. Thats why I prefer a newer and subdivided city bag back for office work & shopping. For longer (train) trips (Aachen-Flensburg) I now use a big 60L bag pack.
Only the Buko was foreign to me! But I guess that’s on growing up close to the border. Kinda wish you were sponsored by Deuter tho, but who knows, someday... 👀 I have two backpacks from them (50 +10L and a 20L) and I’m looking for a small one for one day hikes. Any recommendations? To add: they have women’s versions and they are AMAZING since my back is already a problem at my age 😅
I prefer Bepanten Augen- und Nasen Salbe. It is a smaler tube and it can be used on any muscosa (nose,eye..) for my kid it was the Zaubercreme (magic creme) for any sore peace of skin on the body. I also like the hot water bottle, cause I don’t have a microwave. Buko and Aldi of brand creme cheese is so much better than Philadelphia. Just take a look at the ingredients! Aldi is the perfect store for me as well!
I have a Deuter backpack too! I've had it for years and got it in the U.S. I've taken it on backpacking trips around California, India, Grand Canyon, and more. I also love the pic of you two at the Grand Canyon.
It's interesting that I learn stuff about Guatemala as well :) For example, I would never think that duvets are not a universal thing. In Armenia, we also have those for every weather, mainly from wool or synthetic materials, like sintepon.
Professionalism at its peak… your videos are great… Thanks so much for putting these up. Could you make or do you have Videos about Jobs for international students.. I wanna move to Germany for my MSc program in Thuringia.
I am absolutely loving your content and I keep waiting for your videos now a days! Thank you so much for that. Your videos are truly making me settle in Germany smooothly!! 😄
Hi! I'm a backpack person, I don't even own a Handtasche! And currently it's a Deuter. 😂 I like a specific way of different pockets and how they are placed. That shrinks the backpack market for me drastically. Also I need to have a stabilized back part......Deuter it is! I used to have Kirschkernkissen, but I changed to Dinkelkissen (spelt grain) decades ago. I make them myself, I use them all the time and friends and family love them too. They are a great gift and function the same way as the cherry ones. The difference is the size of the pips and grains. The Dinkelkissen adapts *more smoothly* 😅 to the body.
@@simplegermany Sew a sack with a little opening from cotton fabric in not less than 30x20cm, fill in 1kg Dinkel, close the opening. Done! 2 minutes microwave! Of course it's much nicer with a cover. I make them with a Hotelverschluss. Easy peasy quick project and everybody loves it.
I chuckled at a lot of items on the list. My wife has the same feelings about those items on your list. She loves Exquisa cream cheese but will have to check out Buko. Most of the items we use and love them too.
YESSSSSS I moved to America as a kid and it was a culture shock sleeping under these thin, scratchy blankets. Bread was weird. Butter was weird. It was a rough transition. 20 years later, I have my IKEA duvet, “french dinner roll” from the store as brötchen and use Irish butter. Not perfect, but close!
Did anyone say Deuter Backpack? Gosh I love mine. Never left the house without it. Bought it 10 years ago and it still do it's thing. If anyone ask what's the synonym of "made in Germany" quality I say Deuter Backpacks.
I don‘t really like Wärmekissen, cause the last one I used got hot and burned…. I prefer Wärmflaschen :) I agree with the other things. Have a nice week and stay healthy! :)
I knew a cosmic error must have happened when I wasn't born in Germany :D I LOVE your approach to backpacks! I have 1001 different parameters for a backpack and I will definitely check the Deuter ones now🇩🇪
Hallo, please add Trader Jo's to xour list. You may know that in Germany 2 Aldis exist, Aldi South ownes, what in the US is called Aldi. Aldi Northg is also üresenz on the US-market., but is named Trader Jo's Why are there 2 Aldis. The Albrecht brothers could not agree if to sell cigarettes, So they spilt the companie. May be they learned that from the sport shoe guys: Did you ever wonder why both Adidas and Puma have their headquaters iin Herzogenaurach? Yep, two brothers that decided to fight eachother, Adolph ("Addi") and Rudolph Dassler.
Lol you made me run and check my backpack! It also has the pullout raincover and I love it. It’s a different make - Camel active. So I can be German in disguise when travelling (well, I only became German a few years ago, I have to build up to it lol). Yes to the duvet and the tempos, too. But my favourite crisps (potato chips) are Walker’s salt and vinegar, only the actual British ones. Eat them at the seaside with a cold beer. The perfect mixing of cultures…
As always, I'm having fun and additional insights with the comments each Monday evening. But seriously, if Deuter and Buko don't sponsor co-op with you, then I don't know what they'd be waiting for! Oh, and Bepanthen. I have developed a skin allergy to dry heat weather and the last couple of summers have been one hell of fighting it, so I immediately remember this one. 😊
Yeah, the comments are fun to read! hahaha maybe we get a Deuter sponsorhip one day 😅 Oh, I hope Bepanthen will be able to help your skin allergy! Although it's a very thick cream. Please keep us posted.
@@simplegermany It has to be thick, the one I'm using Triderm, is thick and strong, of course only applied to problematic areas. But the allergy itself, with less severe treatment could as well be mended with change of the climate. I once mentioned to you that I'm running away from Bulgarian July and August weather, well that's why. 😂 My town is such a prominent touristic destination each summer, and yet is the one place which is absolutely unhealthy to me. You will be informed, and thank you!
@Simple Germany Yes. So humidity is key. I love summer and wearing light clothes, enjoying a beach... But you see, in Plovdiv July and August for the most part have temperatures of 38-41 degrees, below 10% of humidity and not a leaf moves from wind. 24 hours for 5 or 6 straight weeks. Slightly different from your cozy sauna, I suppose. 😅With age and past my mid 30s now I've developed ever growing intolerance and skin allergy, like rash, but now I'm fine, it only starts with dry weather heat. So I don't plan on surviving another summer here. I'll be in Germany within two months from now, maybe a bit less. 😎
So much more clarity now, however 'alltages' it may look at first! My biggest backpack is just a bit smaller than your smallest one. 😅 I'm sure that might change over the course of some time of living in Germany. And those zippers with rain covers are indeed awesome! Oh, and that very kind of blanket is an absolute necessity and a favorite to me... douvé, or I don't know how to write that, sounds to me like a French word, but Iove them definitely and I'm happy I won't have to miss them! All else mentioned, well, it's up to be seen and felt about. 🥰 🎒
@@simplegermany Of course! I agree on that, but what made me point this funny comparison is that you definitely comprehend and know their worth and their quality, which is awesome!
10:41 Aaah, I see you are directly on the border of Aldi Süd to Aldi (Nord) in Düsseldorf from that still shot. So you have the full choice of special offers of either store as well. 😁😁 Here in Hamburg I obviously only get Aldi (Nord). I totally get it. With their recent incentives to switch their providers of meat products up to more Bio / organic versions I can again support them more. Until then I had decided to boycott Aldi (either version) due to their demands on their suppliers for incredibly low gros prices, especially when it came to the liter of milk.
For some reason we still use duvets or comforters here in the Philippines haha Absolutely necessary in temperate weather though! Grew up with Aldi in the Chicago area! We have a tendency of calling it "Aldi's" haha! I miss their graham crackers, so good!
I hope your videos make my German life more smoothly as you said. hahaha I'm going to Augsburg next May 05 and I'm watching all of your videos and taking the tips. You could help me if you say how can I go from Munch Airport to Augsburg. Where I get the train and if I need to make a change from one train to another. Thanks a lot for your tips.
Hey Rodrigo, super cool that you will be moving to Germany soon! 😊 You can check out our video on public transportation to understand the national train system in Germany: ua-cam.com/video/WVVDK3u0quU/v-deo.html. u 2 r uploading good content repeatedly so thank you ! my 2 cents, i like lidl better than aldi, and kaufland is the best supermarket imo (contacted to lidl somehow)
Yep, none of them will have it, as they are all discount supermarkets. You can find them in the brand supermarkets such as Rewe, Edeka, Kaufland, etc. 😊
Girls, thank you again! We are planning to move with a baby in summer. We would appreciate so much if you would share anything about chosing a town or a village considering baby's interests. It would be also very useful to hear your opinion, what should be brought to Germans as gifts from other countries and also what should be brought for yourself because we can't find it in Germany ))) I am sorry for being so long)))))))) Thank you a lot!!!
Hey Iulia, from my own experience, Germans love to get food or drinks as gifts. Something special that they might not be able to find in Germany and nothing too crazy sweet or full of sugar. Could you please expand on your question on moving to a village with a baby? We don't have experience with that, but would be happy to ask around and maybe provide some more insight on that. You can find almost anything in Germany. So I'd say pack light and whatever you cannot buy here you can bring from home next time you visit or have a friend send it over. Hope that helps. -J
I am just curious.. How is the rain cover for the Deuter backpack such an amazing feature? There are many backpacks on the market out there that are completely water-proof on their own, without the need for any cover whatsoever.
@@simplegermany I totally agree. I knew someone would bring this up. 😄 Waterproof bags in general make for catchy advertisings, but aren't really confy.. and their zippers get damaged at least twice as fast. So I'm more impressed by the rain cover!
I agree about the items on the list. Though you forgot about an important sweet item.... Haribo! No place does it like the original German ones. They just don't taste the same! Don't know what it is but whenever I have a pack in the UK I am always disappointed and then order ones from a German export & import place and Yumm memories
Fully agree! I (Yvonne) always used to take them with me abroad or bring them as host family presents. However, some years ago we have stopped eating any kind of Gummybears really.
Heute in Essen gewesen?
I love Chio paprika chips. You didn't spend any time talking about how great they are or how great paprika on french fries are in Germany. :) It would be great to have the names of the products on the screen as you're talking about them.
@@simplegermany I was going to ask the same! I love the paprika powder on pommes! It blows my mind 😂 What type of paprika powder would you recommend? If there are different types.....
@@simplegermany Haaahaha wow! I've seen comments which have made me slap my forehead, as well as things that are utterly bright in idea or joke. But this is perhaps the most unexpected allusion to see! It's altogether a compliment, as Martin was luckily quick to clarify, but it's all sooo early to attire to you even the most beloved grandparents'.. vibes! 🤣 I think it's your thoroughness and the way you're candid when it comes to avoiding a mistake. But guess what, I'm the same when speaking cautions - and I've been called 'mom'. 🙄 Still a level down from you. 👵🏼👵🏻
So interesting and fun --- as usual! I am chuckling to myself because my son, soon after he moved to Germany, said something offhand about how great the "kleenex" is. What?!? Of all the weird things! Well, he did not elaborate and the remark got lost in other conversation. I forgot about it until this video. Now I get it!
i didn't know, deuter was a German thing! I thought, everybody in the whole world has them, because when you go travelling, you see those everywhere! Haha, Germans are all over the place. I have 4 deuter backpacks :)
First of all, congrats to your channel. It s super relatable and fun with lots of useful informations. Nice Now… these Deuter bags might be awesome for their purpose, but jeeez they are ugly. You can throw away your passport, because with these you ll look super german for everyone to see from 10 miles away. Hahaha As a German i will never wear white socks in sandals, never join a Schützenverein and never buy a Deuter unless they hire a designer 🤞🏻
About tempo: what I love about it, is that it does not fall apart if you forget it in your clothes and wash it in the washing machine. I ALWAYS forget tissues in my pockets. With other brands the tissue dissolves in the wash and then you have these tiny pieces sticking to every clothing item you had in there. With Tempo the most that will happen is that the layers separate. So theoretically you could wash a used Tempo and use it again. LOL
100% on everything BUT the chips! paprika chips are dead and lousy across the board. my wife and I have a theory that only a "germanisch" person can eat them, smell them or even look at them 10 miles away. and let me tell you back in the day thats all they had here. now and get with the times locas wavy salted chips with nothing are the thing... ps. shes japanese and i am puerto rican...

There is at least one change somewhere in Munich: reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/dn?ld=43169&protocol=https:&seqnr=3&ident=nr.01813169.1649581023&rt=1&rememberSortType=minDeparture&REQ0HafasScrollDir=1#hfsseq4|nr.01813169.1649581023
I will have to get one when I come to Duesseldorf next month as I travel alot. Where can I buy one. The dueter backpack
At any outdoor store such as Globetrotter or online. 😉
Tak
And i started loving #Nivea a lot after coming back from Germany
u 2 r uploading good content repeatedly so thank you ! my 2 cents, i like lidl better than aldi, and kaufland is the best supermarket imo (contacted to lidl somehow)
I have been in netto, Aldi and Lidl and couldn't find BUKO😅 can anybody tell me where I can find it??
Yep, none of them will have it, as they are all discount supermarkets. You can find them in the brand supermarkets such as Rewe, Edeka, Kaufland, etc. 😊
I am an Aldi shopper too, do you all have Lidl too in Germany?
Yes, Lidl is big in Germany 😉
i love deuter!
@@simplegermany hahaha, okay. I got it. Thank you ❤️
Hi from Sydney Australia. Sorry but I can’t shop at Aldi. Love my known brands too much.
alongside with Bepanthen. Do you have anything in your kit to heal a crick?
Amazing content thanks so much can you do a video about cars and driving license please
We actually have an entire playlist on driving in Germany, including the driving license: ua-cam.com/video/oKZRwWMyY4Q/v-deo.html 😉
I am just curious.. How is the rain cover for the Deuter backpack such an amazing feature? There are many backpacks on the market out there that are completely water-proof on their own, without the need for any cover whatsoever.
We just like the versatility and texture. The fully waterproof ones don’t have a nice texture and are by far not as comfortable, at least for us 😅
@@simplegermany Haha.. Fair enough. I get what you mean. :)
@@simplegermany I totally agree. I knew someone would bring this up. 😄 Waterproof bags in general make for catchy advertisings, but aren't really confy.. and their zippers get damaged at least twice as fast. So I'm more impressed by the rain cover!
Yeah and the zippers sometimes gets stuck 🤣
I agree about the items on the list. Though you forgot about an important sweet item.... Haribo! No place does it like the original German ones. They just don't taste the same! Don't know what it is but whenever I have a pack in the UK I am always disappointed and then order ones from a German export & import place and Yumm memories
Fully agree! I (Yvonne) always used to take them with me abroad or bring them as host family presents. However, some years ago we have stopped eating any kind of Gummybears really.
Thank you for your information it's been really useful for me as I settle in Germany
Definitely Aldi is one of the best especially for fresh produce
Heute in Essen gewesen?
I love Chio paprika chips. You didn't spend any time talking about how great they are or how great paprika on french fries are in Germany. :) It would be great to have the names of the products on the screen as you're talking about them.
Thanks for your feedback! 😊
@@simplegermany I was going to ask the same! I love the paprika powder on pommes! It blows my mind 😂 What type of paprika powder would you recommend? If there are different types.....
I need one of those backpacks. I only Bicycle these days
Nice! They are also on sale in the US 😊
So cute, how your favourite things give me old, retired couple vibes. These things remind me of my grandparents.
🤣🤣 whuuuut? 👵🏼👵🏼
@@simplegermany I love my grandparents, I mean that in the most positive way. I hope nobody was offended by this.
@@simplegermany ja ihr werdet wohl auch älter🤣🤣
🤣🤣
New subscriber ..
Antipasti creme cheese from Aldi and baguettes are the two things for me, without which I can't live by here
Oh yes, the antipasti creme is quite yummy!
Yeah Tempo rocks 😉
What about Birkenstock? Nein?
Now in summer I prefer to be barefoot 😉 -Y
You both make good interesting videos. Can you talk about the cooking oil shortage in germany. Thanks in advance🙂
The shortage of Speiseöl is due to the war in Ukraine. We use coconut oil for cooking.
😅
I always say do you have a tissue (Taschentuch) 😂😂😂
Better you sponsor them Deuter ! #smoothly
#smooothly 😋
@@simplegermany 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
@😉from Ikea
i didn't know, deuter was a German thing! I thought, everybody in the whole world has them, because when you go travelling, you see those everywhere! Haha, Germans are all over the place. I have 4 deuter backpacks :)
😅 yeah I guess they were all Germans 😋
First of all, congrats to your channel. It s super relatable and fun with lots of useful informations. Nice
Now… these Deuter bags might be awesome for their purpose, but jeeez they are ugly. You can throw away your passport, because with these you ll look super german for everyone to see from 10 miles away. Hahaha
As a German i will never wear white socks in sandals, never join a Schützenverein and never buy a Deuter unless they hire a designer 🤞🏻
Hehe yeah, however for us function trumps design 😋
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
Aber warum genau Deuter? Ich habe mehr von Vaude als Deuter.
Einfach unsere Vorliebe 😉
About tempo: what I love about it, is that it does not fall apart if you forget it in your clothes and wash it in the washing machine.
I ALWAYS forget tissues in my pockets. With other brands the tissue dissolves in the wash and then you have these tiny pieces sticking to every clothing item you had in there. With Tempo the most that will happen is that the layers separate. So theoretically you could wash a used Tempo and use it again. LOL
Very true! 😊
I'm American but prefer Tempo over Kleenex!
Hahaha interesting to hear 😅
My Deuter backpack is nearly 30 years old and is still fine😀
