I feel like it was supposed to be funny, but in a mixed dramatic/comedy way. The lines "you're a fucking beauty", "shut the fuck up Sue" and the ending, Marty realising that whole argument with them saying everything they have done was said in front of their therapist.
This was written to be funny. The therapist could have been some straight laced old man but it was some corrupt, greedy, eccentric woman. It wasn't unintentional.
Marty can switch off when he knows something is gonna be dealt with. He knew the therapist was fucked just getting involved. Wendy is just that angry she didn't give a fuck either way at that moment. I think Wendy has the potential to be far more vicious in cutting out threats and loose ends. Marty will just allow others to step in where as Wendy will willingly help cut out a problem. Like her brother. Fuck that therapist anyway. Greedy little bitch.

Wendy in season 3 truly was a Walter White impersonator. Doing power-hungry moves and acting like it was somehow for the good of the family. Marty is actually the only one who truly did everything for the safety of his family, even contemplating suicide.
She’s one of the best written characters in my opinion and her character is so much more interesting aswell and Marty too. All the characters are brilliant but Marty and Wendy are fucking brilliant
You rarely see a line like that delivered under another characters line, its very reminiscent of real moments of heated communication. Bateman is hugely underrated.

Are you really gonna overlook how she got the deeper into the cartel business, how she made her brother to stay after Marty tried several times to get rid of her brother, how she also refused to take Marty's advice and get her brother to a private hospital etc. This season, she was like 5 steps back and 1 step forward.
Wendy pisses me off as she truly believes she’s doing the right thing while in reality she’s making things worse through irrationality. Nah. Marty was on the fence about joining the cartel. Remember in Season 1 Episode 8, said to Del “My wife would never go for it”. He talked with her, and she convinced him to. Later Wendy cheated on him, which distracted him, which led to the events of Ozark. Wendy wants to pretend as if she wasn’t the one who started this all and that she was just doing what was necessary, but ever since the end of Season 2 she’s just been OD.
That’s what Wendy always does, she always points the fingers and takes no responsibility for what she does. And when she does even somewhat attempt to take responsibility, she drags someone else down along with her. She tried blaming Marty when she cheated, tried gaslighting Ben when he called her out on her shit, blamed Ruth for bens death even though Marty told her Ben couldn’t be there. She’s pathetic.
This whole scene was so climactic. I was waiting for this argument to take place during the entire show. It was good to see Marty finally stick up for himself.

Something I find interesting is that at the very beginning, Marty wanted more and started working for the cartel to do it, but now wants an escape from the situation he got his family into. Wendy at the start wanted to escape from her situation at the time with Gary, but now wants more and is working with the cartel more to do it. Their goals and mindsets have been reversing from how they were at the start of the show, which is really fascinating.

Ozark is LEGIT one of the best shows out there. This was one of my favorite scenes of the third season. Such great acting at work here.
