  • Note: In the video, I misspoke and said there will be 30 stitches after row one when it's actually 29. Regardless, it does not affect your multiple when you are creating your initial chain count. Thanks xx

    CROCHET US vs UK CROCHET
Chain (chn) is the same for both
US single (sc) = UK double crochet (dc)
US half double (hdc) = UK half treble (htr)
US double (dc)= UK treble (tr)
US triple (treble) (tr) = UK double treble (dtr)

Great pattern and I finally got it after a couple goes...didn't notice the note about stitch count being 29 on the first row. I also wanted to point out that while it's not specifically mentioned with Wave 2, (since the CH 3 at the beginning of the row counts as the first TC) you skip the first stitch after the CH3. I was listening to the video instead of watching, so I didn't skip the first stitch. This, of course, left me with an extra stitch at the end of the row. You'll also want to remember that the CH3 counted as the first TC, so on your return SC row, ensure you remember the 29th SC in the top of that CH3. Such a beautiful pattern! Thank you!

Note: I misspoke in row 1 saying you'll have 30 stitches at the end. You'll actually have 29. Regardless, the multiple is correct and your waves will work. Sorry about that, I'm unable to edit the video once it's published. xx

I just finished this. It came out wonderful! I have to make the seagulls and the starfish and stitch them on. I intend to make a plain single crochet backing with the yarn I used for the sky, sew it together, drop a lining and zipper in it and use it for a zipper pouch to store my notions. Its the oerfect size for my project bag. Thank you so much for this absolutely lovely tutorial. PS- rather than rip it out on that foundation chain count oopsy, I simply decreased that last stitch on that first half double row to bring the stitch count from 30 to 29. It is totally unnoticeable and came out just fine! You are a great teacher and I enjoyed ths CAL project a lot! ❤

This is just so cute. I am going to make a baby blanket with even more colors for the sand, waves, and sky. Hopefully it will come out more artsy than craftsy but it still got me excited! Thanks for the inspiration and guidance.

I love this! It's inspired me to do a whole seascape wrap. I hope to show you when it's done (it'll probably be next year realistically)

I think it's awesome the way you have replied to everyone's comments & answered their questions. I love this square & I plan to make it into a larger afghan for my niece who owns a beach cottage! Your answers about sizing & specific colors of the yarn are very helpful. I can't wait to get started on this. Thanks again!!
