My mother was not a natural baker, but she tried so hard to get things right for her 6 girls. I miss her every day and cherish all her memories. My mom always put cinammon and sugar into the extra pie dough and baked mini cinnamon rolls! So Good! Thanks to your mom for sharing her recipe.
Mine did too. I learned a fancy way to make it: Roll out into square, brush with melted butter, cinn. and sugar, fold over to seal cinn. layer inside. Cut into strips and twist. Bake. You can brush each twist with egg wash and sprinkle with more cinn. and sugar but bake on parchment paper because the excess egg and sugar burns onto sheet pan alone.
I do too! My family loves pie dough cinnamon rolls! I make extra dough just for them!!😊

I have made this exact crust for over 60 years in the restaurant business and for home. Excellent recipe. My leftover crusts are topped with cinnamon and sugar.

My mom always makes piecrust with flour, crisco and water. I tried other recipes, but hers always turns out flakey and delicious. Any leftover dough, i sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, before baking. When my 4 kids were young, they loved the extra treat, made from the extra dough. I always sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on the top of my piecrust, before baking, as well. Now I want to go bake a pie!!!

Never thought of a plastic bag for rolling dough, and the pie crust tarts look tasty!
What is the exact name of the shortening? I saw shortening sticks listed on Walmart online. Does it need to have the term butter favored?
The butter flavored shortening sticks are good!
I used three cups of flour and 1 1/2 cups of Crisco. It made a grease blob. It never looked like the little pea size piece.

@@MissAnniesHomeandKitchen figured out my mistake. Overworking the dough with the dough cutter past the pebble sized pieces causes the dough to become a blob. First time learning to make pie crust, so this is a journey for me. Thanks!

What pre measured shortening do you use? All of the other recipes call for butter.

Does it matter what kind of flour and vinegar? For the full pie do you bake at 350⁰?

Those bags are not food grade. Probably contain cancer causing particles. My grandmother rolled on brown paper sacks.
Who cares! Everything causes cancer, duh. Think about it... brown paper sacks may be worse; they're magnets for all our rodent buddies, that live in factories, warehouses, truck trailers & inside our homes. 😮
