Mark Gatha is the most based Mega Man X.
The process:
-Always wanted to become a doctor
-Only became a VA to pay for med school
-Does some of the greatest voice acting of all time
-Leaves
In other words, he did Mega Man X's duties reluctantly but to the best of his ability, then retired to become a full time doctor.

I remembered now the name. No wonder why Domon Kasshu from G-Gundam dubs sounded like X. It's him, the one who also voiced the game. Nowadays, he's a doctor
I'll never understand what they were thinking with that English X4 voice, X is clearly designed after a teenager, he should have a deeper voice than Classic yet they gave him the exact same voice as Classic in Mega Man 8...
I think it has to do with the fact that most of the X4 and MM8 cast aren’t really actors at all as the dubbing lines were all recorded in Japan at the time
@@TheKing-uu7jn Not really a good excuse to make X sound like a child. There's a fine line between not being a professional and not even trying at all. And to think, we could've had a redub with -English dub Domon Kasshu- Mark Gatha as X if MHX didn't tank.
are you deluded. Mega Man's voice is a much higher pitch in Mega Man 8. its slightly lower in X4. Ruth Shiraishi also voices Clown Man, so she is capable of doing different voices. anyway, she has the best voice for Mega Man and X and you're just wrong :3

@@TheKing-uu7jn MHA? You mean MHF (not to be confused with MHFO, the online RPG which never left Japan)? Also it's a shame Capcom doesn't put as much into the Mega Man franchise anymore. It's nice we're still getting games now that -Naka- Inafune has been proven to be a fraud but not as often and it'd be even nicer to get the games we were promised or were otherwise in the works. Mega Man Universe was basically Mega Man Powered Up 2 and we were promised Legends 3 (the first two and the Tron spinoff are still on my bucket list though) and ZX3 and Star Force 4 were planned but all four were completely abandoned when Inafune left...

It's so random that such a great actress voices that one "Hadooken" line in X1 💀
Setsuo Yamamoto in an interview with Rockman Unity said that the "Hadouken" audio was from a sound recording made in the studio, in the Megaman Knowledge Base credits Megumi Ogata as the voice of X in some Rockman X commercials in Japan, which led to belief that she was the voice of "Hadouken".
It is worth mentioning that at this time they also hired the seiyū Hekiru Shiina to be the voice of the classic Megaman in the Rockman 6 and 7 commercials while she was also the voice of Megaman in The Power Battle and The Power Fighters.
Pretty fitting considering she voiced X's trusty spawn - Harpuia in MM Zero. I'm also shocked she voiced X.

Mark Gatha for sure, but I think Phil Hayes is good as an older X, and I actually don't mind Ruth Jarman Shiraishi as a younger X.

Now that I'm hearing Shotaro, Ted Stroka sounds more or less the same but in English. I'm wondering if that was deliberate.

Mark Gatha's voice is so damn good for X. Honestly all the character voices from x8, Command Mission and maverick hunter X are practically perfect.
Mark Gatha is the best X that ever was or will be, no competition. Sroka isn't good, but not terrible either, Van Gomm tries way too hard and the less said about Shiraishi the better. If you ask me, Gatha is the only one who perfectly nails all of X's traits through his voice alone. A good example is the quote at 3:17, you literally feel X's determination to end Sigma's war against humanity but at the same time, you also feel his inner pain for having to use violence to do so, but he has no choice. As sad as it is to see Gatha retire from voice acting to pursue a medical career, I can't think of a better time than now for him to use his limitless potential to treat patients of Covid-19.

The X voice actor from Megaman X Command Mission was the best I heard for X. The one in Maverick Hunter X did a good job for sure, but the guy in Command Mission did perfect voice acting for X during an entire rpg.

Fun fact: Megumi Ogata has also been the voice of Kurama for decades on Yu Yu Hakusho.
Now I know why they gave X in mavericks hunter "day of sigma" the one and only shining finger move.
Gatha and Morikubo will always be the definitive versions of X in their respective languages in my heart. Sakurai is solid, but his personal drama has created an awkward Flame Mammoth in the room whenever I listen to his lines in retrospect. Plus, I always played X8 with the English dub on as a kid, so I don't have the nostalgic connection to Sakurai that I have for Morikubo and Gatha.

Sadly the window for this has been shut for over 20 years but if Capcom gave Mega Man X the same Toronto VAs they used for Resident Evil, Mega Man Legends and even DMC1, Lyon Smith could've been at least the second-best X, not as good as Gatha but far better than Sroka.
Also, can Ito get another shot at X now that Sakurai got caught for cheating?

Phil Hayes as Ruby Spears X isn't all that bad. Ted Sroka taking the helm of X after Mark Gatha works well, and he could probably do better than that. Not enough to rival Gatha (which is practically impossible to begin with), but enough to stand on its own. Peter Von Gomm… I believe it was a perfect storm of miscasting and terrible directing. ZXA thankfully gave him a chance to redeem himself.
On the Japanese side, it's hard not to love Showtaro Morikubo's take. -That gentle tone left me head-over-heels, 100% bias.- Also, Kentaro Ito deserves the underdog appreciation. As the debut full-voice of X, he was definitely great at it.
Bonus: Iain Gibb as Model X tickles my fancy, sounding human enough while keeping that robot-like uncanniness. It's pretty cool.

probably in the american version of mmx4 they wanted him to have more childish voice like classic megaman, unlike the japanese version
I think the better question why was X? Women voice little boys all the time (Rita Repulsa voices Laharl in Disgaea and was cast Zero (Goku) in the planned Harmony Gold dub of the original pre-DBZ Dragon Ball (Goku has always been voiced by a woman in Japanese, who also voiced Gohan and Goten), Ash Ketchum has always been voiced by women in both English and Japanese (Ash's Japanese VA even sung the first Japanese pokemon theme, Aim to Be a Pokemon Master) and Bart Simpson is also voiced by a woman), it's not that weird but X was designed to look like a teenager...
Most anime’s tend to have young male characters voiced by women since most male va’s around that time go through voice cracking,maturity all that,when they use women cause it sounds younger and more natural.
Kids are voiced by women, imagine a child with the voice of a full grown man that would be creepy. But in X´s case they did a mistake, they thought that Megaman´s voice would be good for him when he´s a teen, a young man.
X was only voiced by a girl in the american version of X4, and tbh, I think that one is horrible and doesn't suit him at all.

all the japanese voice actors are awesome, and we have Ted Sroka too, he is awesome for english megaman, Mark Gatha comes close second, everyone else sucks ballz, specially the one giving voice to biometal X, X might be an ancient hero, but there was no reason at all to make him sound actually ancient.
