I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who catches it, but after Anakin kills the tusken raiders and it cuts to Yoda meditating, thats actually the voice of Qui Gon yelling "Anakin! Anakin! What people should understand is Anakin's personality comes from BPD which is a real world disorder. People with BPD are often traumatized at as a child, in Anakin's case being enslaved. They have high mood disorders that can happen in a instance and can last for days or weeks. Completely conflicted because they know that what they feel is wrong, but they cannot help it. They often have the biggest hearts to help others, but it comes to a fault when they carry too much of the world on their shoulders. In my case, I also have extreme attachment issues. To do soo much to keep people in my life close, and dangerously acting on anything to keep them around in life. Keeping this in mind, you'll really sympathize with Anakin's struggles.

Though it may be uncomfortable to watch Anakin's creepy advances on Padme and his awkward, angsty teen dialogue, the age difference is not that much. In Episode 1, Anakin is 9 years old and Padme is 14. In Episode 2, set ten years later, Anakin is now 19 years old and Padme is 24. The 5 year difference is not scandalous. As far as maturity level is concerned, Padme is certainly far more mature than Anakin who is still a whiney and angst ridden teen. Keep in mind, however, that Anakin is the same age in this movie as Luke was in Episode 4: A New Hope. Luke was just as whiney at 19 years old as Anakin is in this film.

I’ve grown to like Attack of the Clones a lot for it’s overarching mystery plot. Dooku leaves the Jedi after his Padawan is murdered by a Sith. He forms the Separatists, tensions rise between them and the Republic, Padmé tries to push for peace negotiations, almost gets assassinated. The assassin, Jango Fett, leaves a trail of breadcrumbs partially obscured by the actions of a past Jedi. When found on Kamino, it’s discovered he’s the progenitor of a clone army commissioned by a dead Jedi master named Syfo-Dyas. But when questioned about this, Jango claims to have never heard of the man the cloners he lives with were open about being the commissioner, instead claiming he was hired by a man named Tyranus. Did Jango lie, or was this information somehow out of alignment between him and the cloners? Either way, why?
Followed again to Geonosis, Obi-Wan discovers he is in league with Dooku and the Separatists, who are building a droid army with which to fight the Republic. Why is Jango, the progenitor of the clone army, working with Dooku, the leader of the droid army? It’s like he’s playing both sides. Won’t get that answer, he’s dead.
Dooku claims he’s doing this all for the greater good, as the Republic has been taken over by Darth Sidious. He pretends to have no control over the situation, and later acts to his fellow Separatists as if he had no knowledge of the clone army. Yet, when he returns to Coruscant, he meets up with Darth Sidious, calling him master, and is named Darth Tyranus. Dooku is Tyranus, and he serves Sidious?
Why did Dooku hire Jango to help form a clone army that would be used against himself? Why is Dooku forming the Separatist droid army to fight Sidious, on orders from Sidious? How did Dooku work with Dyas to get the clone army up and running ten whole years before it would be needed? Was Dooku the one who obscured the location of Kamino? Was it to hide the planet, or to draw attention to it? What’s the plan going forward?
Especially if one hasn’t seen Return of the Jedi yet, this movie is very compelling in the twists and turns it makes, leaving us with far more questions than answers, but wanting more.

Creating a war where you control both sides of the conflict has been done since time immemorial, usually by superpower countries. Worse both sides are fighting with disposable troops, clones vs robots - so the personal loss of soldiers that must be suffered for all wars to end is just not there. Well, a supercomputer with AI could in theory make calculated, unbiased, and icecold decisions on the right thing to do with everything, which wouldn’t work of course, but the idea of objective truths and science over feelings and religion is the takeaway from that, cause that’s how politics should be, but until then, just spending all the money on public infrastructure would be the best solution, cause it stays, when politics change.

The Clone Troopers are NOT the same as Storm Troopers (that I assume you meant when you saw them and said: "They were clones all this time?") In the animated shows like the Bad Batch, this issue of the Storm Troopers and Clone Troopers is being masterfully shown. Simply put, the Clones are better trained and more professional, but also more expensive. Storm Troopers from episode IV to VI are regular recruits.
Also, Yoda is not faking it with the walking stick. He is using Form 4 duelling style. A form fit for smaller sizes and powerful Force wielders. But he can't do it for long. His old age doesn't allow him. Similar to Dooku, who is a master of Form 2, an elegant fencing form, but he too is old and can't duel for extended periods of time.

The reason Padmé is no longer queen is because Naboo is weird. They elect their monarchs at a young age, and their term ends when they reach adulthood. This apparently after a previous elected monarch tried to take dictatorial power.
5:28 This here is also very interesting. Obi-Wan expected Anakin to back talk a little bit, "We'll not go over this again," but the "Why?" surprised him. It's some subtle storytelling that implies Anakin is normally rebellious, but not this much.

WRONG ... Obi-Wan was far too young to be wise enough to train Anakin correctly. It was NOT "being stuck in Jedi code" ...

It’s pretty widely seen as the worst in the Star Wars prequels. Mainly because of Jar Jar still existing and the dialogue…”I don’t like sand” or “I’m haunted by the kiss you should never have given me”
I still like the movie too, but I think it would be much more well received if they re-wrote some of the dialogue

    • @FizzLeeague
      @FizzLeeague Рік тому +2

Personally, I loved Jar Jar as a kid - which by the way was his actual purpose in the movie so it's something that George Lucas got right in my book. He made me laugh, I liked how different and musical his speech was, I LOVED the Gungun culture - so cool! - and I thought he was totally unlike every other main character: a unique species, dialect, background etc.
Also, whilst the romantic aspect of Anakin and Padme's relationship was rushed, and the dialogue wasn't always good, I always found it strangely believable. The character is 20 at most in this story - 20 year olds say a lot of corny mediocre lines. If anything, the lines being cringe sort of feed into the whole theme that their relationship is a bad move.
And I don't mind if anybody disagrees. I always thought that people read a lot of toxic stuff onto Jar Jar's character from real world history which, quite frankly, is just off. I understand the arguments- blackface minstrel archetypes and all that - but when I was a member of the target demographic (children), I don't remember thinking lowly of Jar Jar's species (the Gungun culture was one of my all-time favourites in Star Wars with their underwater bubble cities, portable forcefields, Kadoo cavalry, bursur pets and stranger hierarchical culture that seemed to consist of difference sub-species), nor of Jar Jar himself. In a film franchise with all of these perfectly dextrous and graceful jedi, and these perfectly beautiful actors and actresses, strangely enough Jar Jar added something real for me - something relatable, funny, believable. I'd think - hey I'm clumsy sometimes too, but sometimes I style it out like that - watching Jar Jar accidentally cause havoc amongst the droids. Sometimes I would think wow! isn't it interesting watching Jedis interacting with normal everyday citizens of a planet, to whom jedi and sith are myths and the force is an exotic religious concept like God or karma. Basically, people politicize stuff, and impute motives they cannot prove, and it sucks. It also terrifies people about taking artistic risks or being inspired by stuff IRL. They borrowed a wonderful West Indian dialect for a culture for a movie, and that is somehow racist? I mean... this crap just wouldn't have passed muster in my undergraduate essays.

Even though it is a television series rather than a feature length movie, it is only 6 episodes and shorter than another trilogy yet has the same caliber of CGI or better, the same actors return to reprise their roles, and the arc of character development is outstanding. The quality of the lightsaber duels, lazy CGI, and shaky cam are enough to prove it, without getting into any other issues. Kenobi had so much potential, but it was terribly executed, and that just can’t be debated

People always have a problem with the age gap between anakin and padme, but Han and leia's age gap is nearly tripled theirs. Anakin and padme are 5 years apart, han and leia are 13 years apart. Anakin is the same age in this one as leia was in a new hope, yet Han is 8 years older in a new hope than padme is in this one.

I highly encourage them to watch the Clone Wars show first. It makes the impact of everything in ROS hit even harder.

Yeah, but then you have the final episodes of Clone Wars Season 7 that overlap with RotS... they could watch seasons 1-6 -> RotS -> season 7...

Think about it. Every last clone gets armor that fits perfectly and is never the wrong size, they all like the same kinds of food, and a million other problems that usually come with maintaining an army simply aren't an issue. There are drawbacks though; a side effect of the growth acceleration is that while they grow up twice as fast, they get old twice as fast too.
Eventually the clones are replaced/supplemented with more conventional recruiting.

Point of clarification that I’m sure others have touched on. Anakin was 9 in Episode I. Padmé was in her early teens (14-15). This means she is now in her early 20s and he’s 19. Not a significant age difference.

Life long Star Wars fans can be overly critical of these movies, but casual movie fans always seem to really enjoy all these movies. The series I through IX really are a level above your typical Sci-Fi action movies and probably the reason we always expect so much from them.

you were asking abou tthe ages. so in movie 1. ankin was 9 years old, padme was 14, this is 10 years later so anikin is 19 and padme is 24.

Yoda using the force to grab his lightsaber yes such a badass shot. I do believe the idea is that he conserves energy and more or less uses the force to do what he does in a fight.

Anakin blames Obi-Wan for Shim's death because for 10 years Obi-Wan never let him return to Tatooine to check on her. (Because Jedi aren't suppose have attachments, blah, blah, blah...)

Since y'all love exploring Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader... there's a great Star Wars series that explores that, set between this movie and Episode 3, called The Clone Wars. I won't lie; it's long-seven seasons of 22 minute episodes for over 130 episodes in total-so you'll probably be best off just watching a subset of the show. It starts out with a direct-to-DVD movie, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), which is vital to watch first due to the characters it introduces. After that, well, there's plenty of articles that highlight the best or most important episodes to watch. I will just say that the 4-episode series finale, 7x09 - 7x12, is definitely among the best content Star Wars has ever produced (and, having only seen the movies, y'all haven't _seen_ the best content Star Wars has produced yet). Presuming you plan on eventually watching The Mandalorian show, know that it builds greatly upon the history and storylines established in The Clone Wars series.
