I have never seen someone mention this but when a zombie is shrunken by shrinking violet, drafodill can blow them away one shoting them, this even applies to gargantuars. Overall the synergy with shrinking violet and draftodill is crazy
I use this strat a lot, but an issue I tend to have is when the draftodil stuns the zombies as they're being shrunk, and so they dont shrink. If there's a solution to this I'd appreciate it
I think Torchwood is underrated. A plant that doubles damage of peas, a mini jalapeño when destroyed, a tanky plant that also has endurian gimmick. I think Torchwood is so versatile that you don't even need to take a pea plant to make it good. Also a 1 25 sun cause is just broken. Also 5s recharge is broken considering its defense capabilities.
Yes, it's very op. If compared with a column of threepeaters powered by Tile Turnips (at least three) - you can clear the whole screen using only one plant food. And yes, the defense capabilities of the torchwood are so OP - it also works as a endurian, slightly burning the zombies who are eating it.
Torchwood is absolutely broken. Why have a fire peashooter when you can have a fire repeater+endurian+jalapeno (also better use of sun and space)! Its also free, like what?! And just one upgrade can bring the cost down to 150?! And the plant food, also don't even get me started on how useful it is with peavine.
True, but I think it ends up with them eating one another until there's 1 hypno-zombie chicken/weasel per lane. Imp pear, to me due to 0 sun cost & fast recharge, outclasses it here
Elite gamer strat: Use Sweet Potato to attract zombies from the pirate seas that come from the planks and plant a half lane with the sea on the right side of it and plant a whole row of Primal Peashooters behind Sweet Potato. Bucket heads, barrel heads, pirate zombies, and gargantuars will instantly die in that lane by falling in the water. For some reason, barrel roller zombie isn’t attracted, so you’d have to plant some Spike Rocks or Fume Shrooms on the planks if he shows up, but besides that, amazing strat and it honestly makes me love the Pirate Seas and Sweet Potato way more!
Even better: Use sweet potato to lure in zombies into one lane. Then, close the game and think about why you wasted gems on sweet potato and quit the game Works every time
For me ghost pepper is straight up broken. It's insane how quickly it recharges and makes it very good at dealing with zombies that broke through your defences without worrying about the recharge
@@ora4nus cherry bomb costs 150 sun plus it takes forever to recharge, and ghost pepper costs 75 sun and recharges kinda fast imp .I'm not saying cherry bomb it's a bad plant because i always use cherry bomb in my deck but i think ghost pepper is a better plant.
It's not really fair to knock points from Thistle for having weaknesses when used on its own. By that logic, Shrinking Violet is bad for not killing things on its own. Of course you play them with complementary options, and Homing Thistle is perfect as a secondary attacker, helping out more vulnerable lanes and assisting harder to use plants like Bowling Bulb by taking care of stragglers. It even managed to get value for me in Penny's Pursuit against zombies with boosted levels, so it absolutely carries its weight. Personally not a fan of the plant food though, just because it feels like half the projectiles struggle to find a target.
I don't think your comparison is very fair, as Homing Thisle, regardless of if you want to consider it a secondary or primary attacker, is still an attacker. It's job is to kill stuff, and it does struggle to do that at times. Violet on the other hand is purely a supporting plant, and it does that job phenomenally. But agreed about the plant food. It feels like it's useless unless there's "some" zombies on the field, as having too many makes each zombie only get hit once and the damage isn't worth it compared to other plant food for crowds, whereas against one or two strong targets left, half the shots miss so you might as well just use the plantfood on something else, or even just recharging an insta's seed packet.
@@Late0NightPC so because you think a certain comparison isnt fair, youll say its not when it completely is fair? Yes, Shrinking Violet is a support plant, so it needs other things to actually kill the zombies it shrunk. Homing Thistle is the same exact way (as stated in the first comment) its a support attacker. Its basically just a land Cattail, and that was never a main damage dealer. Its a perfectly fair comparision to see Homing Thistle as a secondary attacker, cuz thats literally its job
That's both a true statement and a bad comparison. It's true that homing thistle's weaknesses shouldn't undermine the best things you can gain about it, after all if cattail became a very good plant in pvz because of the same concept then homing thistle can also be great too, right? Well if we look at its purposes, most of the things homing thistle can do can easily be replaced by already existing plants. Zombies on your defenseless lawn? That's either a potato mine or Iceberg Lettuce for the starting rounds and Hurrikale for the middle and last, not even mentioning the fact that Jalapeno, Cherry Bomb, Heck even Split Pea most of the time can replace Thistle. Now that's not saying that it's bad, even I think it's good when used right, but that's just saying how questionable it is to pick Homing Thistle for most of the game, especially since if you do have an unprotected line in your lawn in the later parts of the game it's either because it's in the earlier part of the stage (where you can't even get homing thistle unless the stage gives you enough sun) or it's been demolished by a group of zombies (in which homing thistle's gonna have a hard time to deal with unless grouped more). How about picking off the nearest zombies? I mean if a hoard of zombies can easily get near your plants it's good to have a plant that can hone on the front strongest so that the weaker backline zombies can be easily beaten right? Well if that happens then your primary attacker's just too weak (and also you'll lose). Now surprisingly while typing this I just remembered that homing thistle can be used to counter shield zombies and octo zombie's octopi so that's good additional things for it, but sadly at the end of the day there's just better things. The bad comparison part of this is that you're comparing different plants with different *roles* . Shrinking Violet's main role is an instant use support based plant (like Blover and Gold Bloom) and Homing Thistle's role is an offensive plant that kills zombies. By the comparison of "who kills more zombies" then of course Thistle wins, but if it's a comparison of "who has provided more in a fight" then Shrinking Violet's the winner, and it's not really Thistle's fault either. It's just the nature of most instant-use or non-permanent supports, they just provide better utility in the fight because once used they're not gonna be used again for a long time. The most an offensive-plant like Thisle can do is kill zombies.
@@TheGodIvy It's unfair as you're comparing two completely different plants that work completely differently. Also, cattail 100% works as a main attacker idk what you're talking about (seen videos where people spam cattails all over the water and they kill literally everything, total massacre). A comparison has to compare SIMILAR things! You're comparing apples to oranges here. (seriously. the fact *3* people are pointing out how bad your comparison is, is kinda telling..maybe you should listen?) Thistles job is to kill zombies, whether it's the main attacker or not it still has the goal of: kill zombies. The fact it kinda fails to do that isn't really a good sign, it makes it heavily outclassed by many other plants who do it's role way better who don't get swarmed and die immediately. You want plants who can hold their own, not die when a zombie approaches them.
I find it funny how peanut is actually one of the better gemiums to invest in outside of adventure. Especially since he used to be the definition of op in arena/penny.
As a frequent user of Reinforce-mint I would say Peanut is one of the strongest gemium plants (see how situational each of these rankings is now?). Especially with a lack of leveling on my gemium plants, using Reinforce-mint with Peanut is always effective, especially with the boost given to EVERY peanut which would make this worthwhile even with high level Pea-nuts.
I think sweet potato is actually pretty good because it makes it so you only need two of them per lane and they can bring zombies into spikerocks and pyre vines, making it so you don’t need as many of them. It can also brings zombies into the middle lanes (top middle and bottom middle), giving it a synergy with plants that attack multiple enemies once.
I am personally a big fan of Homing Thistle as it can ignore obstacles, though it does need support due to its homing ability only targeting the zombie closest to the house. A good support for it is something that can shoot multiple lanes (Lightning Reed, Threepeater, Apple Mortar being some that I can think of)
Yes exactly. Actually Homing Thistle is my priority pick, along with Lighting Read. I've been ignoring other plants and I just used Homing Thistle instead, because it's just too OP. I've finished the whole game by just picking Homing Thistle (mostly). For me it's the best plant.
Agree, as a meelee player, I usually combine it with snapdragons just a infinut barrier and its enough to use it pretty well to eliminate zombies that get too close
I was preparing to defend sap-fling but then I saw it as third best. Finally someone recognizes that this plant is good, both for early and late stages of the level.
#3 Sap-fling. Oh yeah. Finally, some Sap-fling appreciation 7:35 That's rough dude. But I'm kinda glad it's not just me. For me, it only seems to crash when Wifi is on (which sucks as most of the post-adventure gameplay needs Wifi) Out of curiosity, who remembers when Sweet Potato's cost was randomly changed from 100 gems to $24.99 CA? (BTW this was for the plant by itself, not a bundle) It was changed back but not even the most understanding person can justify that Also, get well soon dude. Take care
Agreed Sapling is a Good Long Range Stall Plant. Though I wish it did damage. Outside of Wintermelon & Sticky Bomb Rice, I don't think there is another Long Range Stall Plant. Wait a Sec, Kernel-Pult.
Peanut is an underated plant. A level 3 peanut has as much durability as a normal wall nut and deals 40 damage. There is something that I haven't seen mentioned is that it has an amazing combo with reinforcemint as if you plant like 3 columns of them and use reinforcemint, you can essentially wipe out all zombies and it's even better with touchwood. I remember using this combo back in one of the arena challenges when reinforcemint was still new I think.
I think it’s kind of hard because if you don’t place it up front it’s wall priorities are wasted but playing it upfront allows it to take damage (at half health it’s dps splits in half but it can be a fun plant for the premise alone (and I guess it has pretty ok dps before it reaches half health)
Pea-nut is useful as a middle-ground protector. They should be close to the front line, but behind something like a wall-nut. They can be placed in the middle three columns for great synergy with other wall plants.
Fire pea is worth it to buy too, if you get lucky and get it to lvl 3, it does a lot of damage. I think it does 80 and now that I have it at lvl 3, it’s really useful
yes i have it level 3 aswell but isnt as good as you think fire peashooter shoots 1 pea does 80 damage on lvl5 can only be upgraded to level 10. repeater lvl 5 does 40 damage each pea it shoots 2x peas so that's 80 damage. im comparing firepea lvl 3 to repea lvl 5 because firepea can be upgraded to upto level 10 while repeater can be upgraded upto to lvel 20 lvl 10 plants get silver icon of lvl 3 level lvl 20 plants get silver icon on lvl 5
Forgot its actual name but the electric fence plant is actually amazing except for one big problem. You need to defend the two posts that make up the fence, which leaves 2/5 lanes without a fence. Even if you power them up with plant food (like I do) they still aren't great at defending themselves. This is where I like to put garlic in front of them to move zombies to the 3 lanes. If you use garlic and power the electric fence plants with plant food, it's amazing 👍🏼
@umlixobiologicolindo You're right 😁 But I like to make full use of the Electric Currants by diverting the zombies into the middle three lanes, it's more fun for me that way 😄
Electric currant is kinda good. 1. Kinda like 3 ghost peppers 2. Makes a lane electric and you can place a lot of them 3. Plant about 5 lanes with Sweet potatoes and put an good offensive plant like pokra and put a wall nut in front or put wall nut and spikerock strategy
That Epic Quest was awful. Zomboss was easily one of the most difficult Bosses I’ve ever faced, and I wasn’t even able to beat him. The combination of no decent plant to plant food, not getting many plants to put on the field, getting what few plants you can put down insta killed by the fact that Zomboss can destroy four plants at a time, your only method of doing damage being to use hypno shroom Gargantuars that get instantly destroyed by Zomboss if they even make it to him, and Electric Currant not even being able to deal with chickens, that battle was darn near impossible. I don’t know why Popcap thought that was okay.
@@keithwiechart7744 Very true. Back when it was part of the Wild West Extension, I only managed to beat it without power-ups ONCE (not a flex since I was just extremely lucky that one time; I don't even know how I managed to do that & I was never that lucky again). It was so painful that whenever that quest came back, I don't even try to beat it the right way (I spam boosted Hypnos & boosted Spikeweeds + The snow pea Power up until Zomboss goes down). Never again
@@TimerdonDWI I really like e currant them they buffed him where he was really good then they nerfed him to complete garbage he can't even guarantee a kill on chickens which pretty much made wild west day 35 alt harder also i personally find far future day 35 alot harder than wild west day 35
hot take, peanut isn't _that_ bad. it has use in the early game when you'd prefer to stall zombies and they're pretty weak, and is like red stinger in that if you put it towards the middle of the field it can both attack and defend, so it's good when a lot of zombies are heading towards the middle of your defense. with some stat buffs it could do nicely. plus, for endangered plants + conveyor levels, it can defend a plant while attacking, and for only plant/lose x plants levels, its purpose works great! when the amount of plants you can place or lose is numbered, peanuts isn't a horrible pick. there are definitely worse plants. think of it like a ranged durian, I guess- instead of just attacking zombies that attack it, it can attack them for a few extra tiles. it's like pea + pumpkin for levels where your attackers need to survive a few hits!
Talking just hypnoshroom on its on yes its bad but I really enjoy it in a strategy. Colipower is really strong once you have a couple of them down around a full colum (5) with its weakness being sometimes it won't target a zombie at the back by the house and that's where hypnoshroom is used. Stopping your colipowers being eaten and just adding more hypnotised zombies. Pair these 2 plants up with like ice lettuce and the pink stall thing not sure its name (also zero sun) or any other stall plants or plants to make the zombies eat slower. This will allow your zombies to kill more zombies. Please just try it. On penny pursuit levels you can easily defeat hard zomboss (lose all health) within the first minute as there is so many zombies that just get stacked eating away at zomboss.
Pros of this vid: 1. Yeah, homing thistle isnt a very good plant around here 2. Ghost pepper can be pretty affective too 3. Hurrikale is good for arena when you mix him with the potatoes 4. Shrinking violet paired with imp pear is TOO GOOD 5. Sweet potato is 100 gems but hot date is 200 seeds, 200 seeds is somewhat easier to get 6. If you have caulipower, DO NOT buy hypnoshroom, i have the caulipower but i didnt pay for it Cons of this vid: 1. Peanut can be a good plant too 2. You might say that peanut is only a 50/50 of peashooter and wallnut, but its actually 25% peashooter and 75% wallnut, so he should be planted in the front, approximately the sixth or seventh column
My first Plant I bought was Ghost Pepper, and I did not regret anything, she was Honestly Useful, she deals a lot, Explodes dealing more DMG but she's Limited on her Life
I love how this video shows my skills getting better at the plant game Electric Currant and Peanut are both plants I 100% grab jnstead of any good ones years ago. And apparently I grabbed slots 5-2 IN THAT ORDER while finally fully playing PvZ 2. Spoilers btw, but yeah the ending in Modern Day was nothing. Like PvZ 1 had a Zombie on Your Lawn play. And a cute little sequence. But not in the sequel. Also Bug Wave Beach was almost completely cheesed because of instas, Ghost Pepper, and Rotobaga. Ghost Pepper is now my favorite plant, but I guess I just have a thing for ghosts who want to spook, but look cute (like Mimikyu, my favorite Pokemon)
Wow... I'm honestly surprised that you're top 1 and 2 are the two plants I bought by gems in the time I played Pvz2 (now only watching on UA-cam cause I'm bored). The blover-like plant was just so useful (I thought) the first time I saw what it does. And I was intrigued with the shrinking plant description when I was scouting for plants to buy. Though I'm not really a good player compared to the people I watch on UA-cam so that's why I sometimes get frustrated with using the blover thing.
7:35 oh my god, this exact same thing happens to me too. For whatever reason PvZ2 only lets me play for a couple of hours each time I install it before starting to crash every 3 minutes. It sucks so much ass and I literally can't beat adventure mode because of it. The worst part is that it wasn't even a recent bug, it's been happening for about half a year by now
that's probably due to either how much memory your phone has compared to what the app consumes, or how old your phone is 'cuz old phones tend to crash more apps than common
i feel like peanut is hella underrated, i personally think that if you use it as a wallnut it can deal extra damage to zombies while holding them off, and if you use it as a peashooter then it can deal damage at the back of the lawn while other plants deal damage, and if the zombies get to the peanut, it’ll hold them off and deal damage to the zombie, and since it’s weakened it should be able to take care of it
Mfw 2 of my fav plants are on the worst plants list(sweet potato and currsnt) No currant isn’t bad just no one knows how to use it, it’s arguably completely busted by just supporting its lane so it doesn’t die or… using pumpkin which is a great strat, definitely undeserved rating, I would also argue ghost pepper is better than violet and hurrikale is better than both but fine
Thank you!! I was very upset when he said: I don't I need to explain electric current. And was made it worse was the fact that electric current was my 1st gemmium plant.
I'm guessing the addition of overpowered plants (eg the top plants on the list plus other premiums such as Pokra), the need for level up efficiency with plants (due to zombie HP ramping in Pursuit) make E.Currant look weak/bad in comparison even though it can work well (as a Gloom-walk strat improvement in some cases) Maybe it's also what happened to Levitater how it was first introduced in a rather un-ideal way despite having potential, & that unideal way probably stuck with many people. I don't remember as it's been many years since. It could also be the dreaded Wild West Day 35 where it's considered weak / not too helpful against Zomboss. Yeah, that's probably it
I think the problem is that over half of the zombies in the game has ways of countering electric current. It also doesn’t help how there are a ton of plants that can clear an entire level without any thought from the player
I think most plante would fit the gem criteria since some arent even worth 5 dollars or the thousands of seed packets. I know thats how it probably works but still it would make good use of gems.
10:17 you say that the synergy with reinforcemint is not relevant because we're rating peanut and not the mint. However, this same logic falls flat when talking about other plants and their synergies. Blover is widely considered to be a very good plant, but it on its own is not amazing, it's the synergy that makes it good. Same thing goes for peanut. As much as I agree and appreciate with the rest of the video, I felt the need to point this out. Good video!
but you need either primal peashooter to push them back to not eat him or garlic or sweet potato but you need like 4 lanes to even have good setup so its not the best nor even good its more like mid
In the Chinese one, there is a worse electric current I forgot its name but it just slows zombies and attacks like a peashooter but slightly faster. It's plant food just speeds the attack but not freezing them.
My comments for unranked plants: Squash Good and bad at the same time, he can kill billions of zombies at once but not in a 3x3 area, if your squash is at level 3, he can smash a gargantuar thrice instead of once, if he is at level 7, he can smash a garg 5 times instead of once, this can be very good for arena, but he is also a "worse" version of potato mine Jalapeno Good, he can be an instant version of torchwood, costs less sun and does more damage, the recharge might be slow but you can use plant food, he can also be an alternative for mower launch, and just like in the first game, he can be used to encounter imps thrown by gargs. Talk abt his first game pros, they carry to the next game here Fire peashooter Bad, why would you spend 100 gems when you can get torchwood for free now? Unless you bought the peashooter bundle, which i did, you might say that peashooter torchwood takes up space, but how about gatling torchwood? PvZ1 vibes huh, why do you need FOUR fire peas when you can only use TWO spots, and the plant food is just not the best, jalapeno is still better, and fireball storm is better than flaming floor. Also, the best part here is abt leveling up, peashooter and repeater are easier to level up than fire pea, so you can use THEM for stronger shots without upgrading fire pea Lava guava Good, the lava pit stays for a decent time, and for two seconds, the zombies will get stunned in there (invisible plant), it is also considerably a "damage machine" Kiwibeast Good, now that he is a gemium, certain attacks can take him instantly to the last phase, such as a gargimp legal smash and stuff, his last phase attack is a 5x5 area which can be pretty useful, he also does a lot of damage and can attack certain zombies in a short amount of time
I think top 1 plant is cauliflower, aggreed? Especially with it getting exp from premium plant piñatas for dark ages, and it’s leveling makes it super affordable, attacks decently fast, and one shots literally everything except zomboss, and along with that, turns them on your side!
I think homing thistle is a pretty good plant to start you off in the game. It got me all the way to far future, but you will need to use more better plants instead.
How come Fire Peashooter is not here. She can; - Do good damage (coneheads takes only a few balls and dies) - Heats up and is very useful in Frostbite Caves - Powerful plant food - Still strong even at lvl 1 - It's quite cheap (well if you manage your sun plants)
Because this is the worse repeater, good only in frostbite caves, make example rotobaga gemium instead of fire peashooter - will make more sense. But i didnt hate this plant, this just a worse than most of gemium plants, but better than trash - like peanut.
peanut is ONESLOT instead of two slots (peashooter and walnut) plus like you mentioned re-enforcement mint boost it with plant food and stuff and saves more space then peashooter + walnut
Also, about hypno shroom, he is simply overpowered by a plant that costs double the amout he costs but isnt single and can also hypnothyse big zombies and has a better plant food(caluipower)
I Don't think caulipower has a worse plant food than hypno shroom. Caulipower is premium and hypno shroom is probably most comparable to chilli bean (as in adventure plant$)
11:38 - YES. i don't properly remember the mechanics of this thing but it's not niche, it's just fetishist - spending two tiles for these berries to make a zapping line. which.. deals damage! Wow, not a single plant does the same work at stealthly damaging enemies, if not count the spikeweed/rockweed/something about like four more plants in the entire game. But the zombies can eat one of the berries and the thing won't work, so you got to keep that lane defended very strongly. And if you can do this, why don't you do the same thing with other lanes? Or if there's some weak lanes, just use wallnuts and spikes. I'm honestly trying to think where the heck i could use this plant to explain it's possible littlest bit of usefulness but.. i can't. It's a piece of pure garbage right from the idea.
@@crimsonsakura2184 you said you were using spikes and nuts. That wouldn’t work better than electric currant. I agree they’re terrible, but they still have use.
-needs to be planted on the front yet has low hp - damage isn't enough for a basic, making it a way less versatile spikeweed with extra steps - *underwhelming* plant food effect - is pretty useless in most levels, scince many zombies can insta-kill walls - awful recharge time & sun cost
Question: If I bought a premium plant and then, after an update, it became “gemium”, do I keep it for all my profiles or it becomes limited to my current one? Because I bought most of my premiums way back, when they used to cost money, and I’m afraid of losing them if for some reason I lose my current profile :(
Hi koala I love your videos Can you pls make videos about pvz2 reflorished Because i cant choose which plant i need to buy from store Pvz2 reflorished is a mod of pvz2
I think lava guava can be ranked the same as ghost pepper, same sun cost and it’s lava tile can deal a lot of damage, I always use it in junction with the sun bean on tanker zombies. In addition, the plant food of lava guava makes it almost like a walnut where the plant itself is immune to chewing and even gargantuans, but dealing high damage to everything in front of it
I’ve never found Lava Guava to be that good, especially compared to other gemium instas like Squash and Ghost Pepper. Lava Guava’s sun cost is simply too high compared to its value.
@@keithwiechart7744 There are 3 missing actually. Lava Guava, Squash, and Fire Peashooter. This video probably would’ve been better as a ranking, rather than a top 5 best/worst.
I personally really like Hurrikale, it's really nice if zombies are getting way too close, you can push them all the way back and even give that extra slowness.
8:56 peanut at level one does more damage per second than a peashooter , peanut has more hp than a wall nut , when a zombie is eating a peanut it also damages so the 150 sun is worth it and at level 4 the cost is 125
Spoilers for number 1 on this list! . . . Ok, here we go, an actual explanation on why Currant is the worst Gem plant: Electric Currant is a 150 sun cost attacking plant that, by itself, does very weak melee damage, that then diverts a zombie, but, if another Currant is placed in its X or Y axis on the lawn, they will link up, and form an Electric Fence that will harm all zombies that step in it, interesting in concept, but needs very specific support to work, aka, Garlic, Garlic isn't as good as he was in PvZ 1, not to mention alot of zombies can just remove it or ignore it entirely. Back to Currant, Currant is an odd attacker, best used as a secondary attacker to constantly chip at the horde as your main attackers deal with the enemies up front. It's plant food simply causes the Current to make it's Fence more powerful, that is it. Overall I don't think it's the absolute worst, but certainly very situational and needs very specific support to function properly.
The funny thing is that hot date does what sweet potato does but better. It both groups zombies together and is a jalapenos on death like it's a explode-o-nut
I like reinforce-mint plants, so kinda sad to see pea-nut being kinda meh. But on the other hand, I'm the person who spams pea-nut with Torchwood and blockoli to create a near impenetrable wall of doom and easily clear out waves by planting reinforce-mint, so ...I won't say a thing

Too bad Arena double checks if you still have Wifi on when you finish a match or else it'll pretend that / force you to forfeit (crashes do this too). But thanks for the tip. It actually worked. Though, I guess this issue shouldn't even be here for this long to begin with
@@TimerdonDWI yeah I mean it's better if Arena doesn't check if it has internet connection because some people don't have strong internet connection and yeah your welcome.
I saved up enough gems recently to buy my first Gemium, and I was a little hesitant on what to get but I got hurricale. Guess it was the right choice :)
I think the peanut is a backlane plant, because it’s walnut ability blocks zombies already weakened by the peanut fire from reaching the house in larger waves.
In homing thistle's defense: it's more like a sniper plant. Not a close range plant nor a defending plant. So that's mostly why it doesn't anything when it's getting munched on. I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just saying.
I still remember people trashing over Sap-fling cuz he has no damage and originally cost real money. Now he's one of the best stalling plants in the game.

they should make the game paid and remove ALL the microtransactions.

True, but I think it ends up with them eating one another until there's 1 hypno-zombie chicken/weasel per lane. Imp pear, to me due to 0 sun cost & fast recharge, outclasses it here
Hypnotized chickens might as well not do anything tho
Unfortunately it's only animals
It's kinda useful on gargantuars since they smash 1 at a time but doesn't help mush
For some reason, barrel roller zombie isn’t attracted, so you’d have to plant some Spike Rocks or Fume Shrooms on the planks if he shows up, but besides that, amazing strat and it honestly makes me love the Pirate Seas and Sweet Potato way more!

,
Tried that once. The zombies wouldnt change lanes until there's no water on it
hot date
it does the same but explodes in the end
Even better: Use sweet potato to lure in zombies into one lane. Then, close the game and think about why you wasted gems on sweet potato and quit the game
Works every time
Interesting how that makes Squash, Fire Peashoote, and Lava Guava the most average gemium plants

@@T-DAWG1 how the fuck do you manage that 💀💀
Bro year later, this game is broken. They added a plant called cranjelly, it's literally ghost pepper but with plant food effect
(seriously. the fact *3* people are pointing out how bad your comparison is, is kinda telling..maybe you should listen?)
Thistles job is to kill zombies, whether it's the main attacker or not it still has the goal of: kill zombies. The fact it kinda fails to do that isn't really a good sign, it makes it heavily outclassed by many other plants who do it's role way better who don't get swarmed and die immediately. You want plants who can hold their own, not die when a zombie approaches them.
Guys just enjoy the video🙄
I find it funny how peanut is actually one of the better gemiums to invest in outside of adventure.
Especially since he used to be the definition of op in arena/penny.
He still is as long as reinforce-mint is available in a level
I really like E Currant, it's a shame he got nerfed hard, so that #1 spot is deserved
@@bernardo-martinsAsa Akira
As a frequent user of Reinforce-mint I would say Peanut is one of the strongest gemium plants (see how situational each of these rankings is now?). Especially with a lack of leveling on my gemium plants, using Reinforce-mint with Peanut is always effective, especially with the boost given to EVERY peanut which would make this worthwhile even with high level Pea-nuts.
I only spam those strats sometimes
I'm gonna specifically point out how the rankings just happen to coincide with the versatility of the plants
if you need a mint to make it viable is it really worth it?
@sleepycat4864 mint is pretty much free to use so maybe?
I think sweet potato is actually pretty good because it makes it so you only need two of them per lane and they can bring zombies into spikerocks and pyre vines, making it so you don’t need as many of them. It can also brings zombies into the middle lanes (top middle and bottom middle), giving it a synergy with plants that attack multiple enemies once.
This makes garlic useless.

I think it’s kind of hard because if you don’t place it up front it’s wall priorities are wasted but playing it upfront allows it to take damage (at half health it’s dps splits in half but it can be a fun plant for the premise alone (and I guess it has pretty ok dps before it reaches half health)
but it was mentioned though
Pea-nut is useful as a middle-ground protector. They should be close to the front line, but behind something like a wall-nut. They can be placed in the middle three columns for great synergy with other wall plants.
Homing thistle is a bro fr, sacrificing itself for your safety is so wholesome and dark
I remember having Shrinking Violet and using it on every single level, it's broken, Hurrikale is severely underrated.
I remember some of these are premium plants before they were changed into gem-purchasable plant
Fire pea is worth it to buy too, if you get lucky and get it to lvl 3, it does a lot of damage. I think it does 80 and now that I have it at lvl 3, it’s really useful
yes i have it level 3 aswell but isnt as good as you think
fire peashooter shoots 1 pea does 80 damage on lvl5 can only be upgraded to level 10.
repeater lvl 5 does 40 damage each pea it shoots 2x peas so that's 80 damage.
im comparing firepea lvl 3 to repea lvl 5 because firepea can be upgraded to upto level 10 while repeater can be upgraded upto to lvel 20
lvl 10 plants get silver icon of lvl 3 level lvl 20 plants get silver icon on lvl 5
Also fire pea had a chance to shoot plasma peas instead of its normal fire peas increasing its damage.
You mean Electric Currant?
My bro, Pumpkin serves just good for protecting the Electric Currant

The cause of my nightmares in wild west epic quest
My first play through I thought fire pea was the best gem plant just because it made frostbite cave a breeze
Homing Thiscle is basically pvz2 version of Cattail, tho tbh would a combo of wintermelon and Homing Thistle be a good combo
hot take, peanut isn't _that_ bad. it has use in the early game when you'd prefer to stall zombies and they're pretty weak, and is like red stinger in that if you put it towards the middle of the field it can both attack and defend, so it's good when a lot of zombies are heading towards the middle of your defense. with some stat buffs it could do nicely.
plus, for endangered plants + conveyor levels, it can defend a plant while attacking, and for only plant/lose x plants levels, its purpose works great! when the amount of plants you can place or lose is numbered, peanuts isn't a horrible pick. there are definitely worse plants. think of it like a ranged durian, I guess- instead of just attacking zombies that attack it, it can attack them for a few extra tiles. it's like pea + pumpkin for levels where your attackers need to survive a few hits!
Used this as a guide to which gemium to buy first as I started playing not long ago
Shrinking Violet does WORK man don't underestimate it.
Hypno is in my experience one of the best it doesn’t matter how strong the zombies the game sends you are if you can use it to your benefits.
Pros of this vid:
1. Yeah, homing thistle isnt a very good plant around here
2. Ghost pepper can be pretty affective too
3. Hurrikale is good for arena when you mix him with the potatoes
4. Shrinking violet paired with imp pear is TOO GOOD
5. Sweet potato is 100 gems but hot date is 200 seeds, 200 seeds is somewhat easier to get
6. If you have caulipower, DO NOT buy hypnoshroom, i have the caulipower but i didnt pay for it
Cons of this vid:
1. Peanut can be a good plant too
2. You might say that peanut is only a 50/50 of peashooter and wallnut, but its actually 25% peashooter and 75% wallnut, so he should be planted in the front, approximately the sixth or seventh column
Peanut sucks
@GeorgePig3 Well George pig you are wrong its 250 seeds

i feel like peanut is hella underrated, i personally think that if you use it as a wallnut it can deal extra damage to zombies while holding them off, and if you use it as a peashooter then it can deal damage at the back of the lawn while other plants deal damage, and if the zombies get to the peanut, it’ll hold them off and deal damage to the zombie, and since it’s weakened it should be able to take care of it
Mfw 2 of my fav plants are on the worst plants list(sweet potato and currsnt)
No currant isn’t bad just no one knows how to use it, it’s arguably completely busted by just supporting its lane so it doesn’t die or… using pumpkin which is a great strat, definitely undeserved rating, I would also argue ghost pepper is better than violet and hurrikale is better than both but fine
Thank you!! I was very upset when he said: I don't I need to explain electric current. And was made it worse was the fact that electric current was my 1st gemmium plant.
I'm guessing the addition of overpowered plants (eg the top plants on the list plus other premiums such as Pokra), the need for level up efficiency with plants (due to zombie HP ramping in Pursuit) make E.Currant look weak/bad in comparison even though it can work well (as a Gloom-walk strat improvement in some cases)
Maybe it's also what happened to Levitater how it was first introduced in a rather un-ideal way despite having potential, & that unideal way probably stuck with many people.

Good video!
Here’s a better example of plants failing without synergy. Shrinking Violet. She isn’t that useful if you don’t have something to attack with.

Electric Currant is actually my favorite plant in the game, and it can be really good with proper support
but you need either primal peashooter to push them back to not eat him or garlic or sweet potato but you need like 4 lanes to even have good setup so its not the best nor even good its more like mid
ARH ARH
In the Chinese one, there is a worse electric current I forgot its name but it just slows zombies and attacks like a peashooter but slightly faster. It's plant food just speeds the attack but not freezing them.
Homing thistle is good if you have another attacker. It's a good secondary attacker if you know what I mean.
My comments for unranked plants:
Squash
Good and bad at the same time, he can kill billions of zombies at once but not in a 3x3 area, if your squash is at level 3, he can smash a gargantuar thrice instead of once, if he is at level 7, he can smash a garg 5 times instead of once, this can be very good for arena, but he is also a "worse" version of potato mine
Jalapeno
Good, he can be an instant version of torchwood, costs less sun and does more damage, the recharge might be slow but you can use plant food, he can also be an alternative for mower launch, and just like in the first game, he can be used to encounter imps thrown by gargs. Talk abt his first game pros, they carry to the next game here
Fire peashooter
Bad, why would you spend 100 gems when you can get torchwood for free now? Unless you bought the peashooter bundle, which i did, you might say that peashooter torchwood takes up space, but how about gatling torchwood? PvZ1 vibes huh, why do you need FOUR fire peas when you can only use TWO spots, and the plant food is just not the best, jalapeno is still better, and fireball storm is better than flaming floor. Also, the best part here is abt leveling up, peashooter and repeater are easier to level up than fire pea, so you can use THEM for stronger shots without upgrading fire pea
Lava guava
Good, the lava pit stays for a decent time, and for two seconds, the zombies will get stunned in there (invisible plant), it is also considerably a "damage machine"
Kiwibeast
Good, now that he is a gemium, certain attacks can take him instantly to the last phase, such as a gargimp legal smash and stuff, his last phase attack is a 5x5 area which can be pretty useful, he also does a lot of damage and can attack certain zombies in a short amount of time
Jalapeno was ranked by him
Lava guava>squash
This started recently but my game is also crashing like crazy.
It only seems to happen with Wifi on (which is rough when it crashes during Arena or Penny's Pursuit)
I think top 1 plant is cauliflower, aggreed? Especially with it getting exp from premium plant piñatas for dark ages, and it’s leveling makes it super affordable, attacks decently fast, and one shots literally everything except zomboss, and along with that, turns them on your side!
Caulipower is not a gemium plant. He has a separate video for those

I'm honestly trying to think where the heck i could use this plant to explain it's possible littlest bit of usefulness but.. i can't. Or even just Imp Pear if you're fast enough at planting
better a single columm of draftodils and violet
I got ghost pepper when she first came out and have loved her since.
Question: If I bought a premium plant and then, after an update, it became “gemium”, do I keep it for all my profiles or it becomes limited to my current one?
Because I bought most of my premiums way back, when they used to cost money, and I’m afraid of losing them if for some reason I lose my current profile :(
yeah I can't deny that electric current is bad, but... I still find him fun to use despite being bad
Hi koala
I love your videos
Can you pls make videos about pvz2 reflorished
Because i cant choose which plant i need to buy from store
Pvz2 reflorished is a mod of pvz2
Brooo i just watched this, then realized all the gemium plants i bought were on the worst plants list 💀
just by it looks i know damn well hurrikale is op stall plant
Here’s an idea:
Actually put all the content for your game in the game.
In short, Gemium/premium plants are an abysmal idea.
Honorable Mentions for the BEST GEMIUM 💎 Plants in Plants Vs Zombies 2 Squash, Fire Pea and Lava Guava.
I think lava guava can be ranked the same as ghost pepper, same sun cost and it’s lava tile can deal a lot of damage, I always use it in junction with the sun bean on tanker zombies. In addition, the plant food of lava guava makes it almost like a walnut where the plant itself is immune to chewing and even gargantuans, but dealing high damage to everything in front of it
Also, I have to ask where Lava Guava is on this list.
I’ve never found Lava Guava to be that good, especially compared to other gemium instas like Squash and Ghost Pepper. Lava Guava’s sun cost is simply too high compared to its value.
@@bird_obsession yeah, but in a list about all the gem plants, I couldn’t help but notice one was missing.
@@keithwiechart7744 There are 3 missing actually. Lava Guava, Squash, and Fire Peashooter. This video probably would’ve been better as a ranking, rather than a top 5 best/worst.
@@bird_obsession oh yeah, it slipped my mind that those were gem plants too.
I personally really like Hurrikale, it's really nice if zombies are getting way too close, you can push them all the way back and even give that extra slowness.
Heres my list from best to worst
Violet
Sapfling
Hurrikale
Lava
Jalapeno
Ghost pepper
Squash
Homing
Firepea
Hypno
Sweetpot
Peanut
Ecurrant
8:56 peanut at level one does more damage per second than a peashooter , peanut has more hp than a wall nut , when a zombie is eating a peanut it also damages so the 150 sun is worth it and at level 4 the cost is 125
Spoilers for number 1 on this list!

Ok, here we go, an actual explanation on why Currant is the worst Gem plant:
Electric Currant is a 150 sun cost attacking plant that, by itself, does very weak melee damage, that then diverts a zombie, but, if another Currant is placed in its X or Y axis on the lawn, they will link up, and form an Electric Fence that will harm all zombies that step in it, interesting in concept, but needs very specific support to work, aka, Garlic, Garlic isn't as good as he was in PvZ 1, not to mention alot of zombies can just remove it or ignore it entirely.
Sweet Potato: Who are you?
Hot Date: I'm you, but better.
The waffle house has found his new host
The Waffle House has found its new host
The end just gave me an heart attack cuz of the volume of voice
The Waffle House has found its new host.
The waffle house has found it’s new host
The Waffle House has found its new host
Proglet
The funny thing is that hot date does what sweet potato does but better. It both groups zombies together and is a jalapenos on death like it's a explode-o-nut
Torchwood tho is absolutely broken on how op it is
my mom who plays pvz2 has it and doesn’t use it at all
I like reinforce-mint plants, so kinda sad to see pea-nut being kinda meh.
But on the other hand, I'm the person who spams pea-nut with Torchwood and blockoli to create a near impenetrable wall of doom and easily clear out waves by planting reinforce-mint, so ...I won't say a thing
KoalaOM if your game crashes try turning off your mobile data because the game only crashes when you're online. If you want to play Penny's Pursuit just turn your mobile data on enter Penny's Pursuit and then turn it off right after.
They should’ve made it so that one bite of the hypno shroom makes you hypnotized.
