    For the cabinet with mirror extra socket, you may want to try to install a LED socket strip light around your mirror. For the top portion of the aircon trunking in your bathroom, it's an opportunity for you to put some plants or fake plants to make it more lively? And lastly, for the PD door, you can go to those hardware stores to buy those window films to stick on the semi-transparent glass. Just a suggestion.

    Designing our home comes with experience so your next home will be better for sure. It is still doable now to research home improvement ideas to overcome the shortfall.
    Some suggestions for the two issues you mentioned :
    1 - the crack line at the entrance, perhaps can install a panel of thin ply wood onto the wall to cover up the crack and add as feature wall. I feel more durable than applying wall paper as if the surface is not smooth, the wallpaper may not last.
    2. No light at the dressing cupboard - Install a small lamp inside the cupboard since there an extra power point unused. Get those that is adjustable head so can direct the light source to where is needed when doing your makeup.
    Just my two cents. 😊

    Great sharing. It feels like many of these mistakes could have been avoided. Quite surprising your ID did not pick them up. Also surprised that you didn't include the messy powerpoints above the TV console in this list.

    • @tangshuimoi686
      @tangshuimoi686  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely there are rooms for improvement 👍🏻 Indeed, the powerpoints are not the neatest - but we enjoyed the convenience to access them easily! If we were to install the powerpoints lower to hide them, we might need to shift out the TV console a little? Can consider the pros and cons ✌🏻

    The way to solve the crack line on the wall is to add a layer of maxbond adhesive between the original wall and the cabinet first before plastering. Thats the only way 😅
    So in a way you need to “plaster” the small gap with maxbond first, then plaster normally with the compound putty. That should work.

    Hello! I think one more thing about the bathroom pd door is that we should not choose louvred door as the bedroom air-conditioned cold air will leak into bathroom. Similarly, potential foul air from bathroom will leak into the bedroom which may affect health over time (if toilet contains moist foul air)

    Hire an electrician to move the pendant light while fixing some other small electrical issues around the house. They can conceal the wiring so that nobody will ever know rectification work was done.

    Thanks for sharing - you have a beautiful home ! I have the exact same problem with the cabinet and wall joint crack. My painter has plastered and painted over twice already. Looks great now but we know it’ll crack again very soon. Saw some helpful tips in the comments here, will check them out. My ID also suggested wallpaper. Will keep you posted if we get a solution. Enjoy your nice home !

    As a designer, easiest way to light up ur current area without going thru the electrician is to get those cordless light (online purchase). u can get those below $100 depending on how long you want.
    In your next renovation, ask the aircon guy to split your gas pipe and water pipe. gas pipe run on top, then box it with acrylic box up using silicate board. will not have leaking issue since it is gas, water pipe run at the side and below so it will not be obvious. After handling so many hse, this is the most satisfactory way of running the pipe thru your bathroom. or just get ur next designer discuss with ur aircon guy if possible. ppl not in our trade easy to sway by contractors. The one that u have makes it easy for them, but does not look really appealing.
    Hope my comment help in your next hse. if you have other question, can let me know too.

    Tbh, it seems like the crux of all these regrets come from an inexperienced ID who reacted to troubleshoot instead of preemptively advise you of the potential misalignment. General layman like you and I would not have known of the need to align grout lines and skirting, as we didn't know of it until the work is done, that's why we hire an ID professional not just for the aesthetic of things. Or else why are we paying more for them to mark up if they just blindly follow when one could have just hired a renovation contractor that takes instructions for much much cheaper, easily save a few thousands.

    The table looks like it's v dirty (Material)
    The floor grout so obvious (black)
    Aircon pipe in toilet really ugly , it's too huge.
    The switch throughout the house not consistent, some original some legend.
    The shower will cause condemnation when you shower , hot and cold. Your aircon guy anyhow, long term will cause mould, the pipe should had went the other direction.
    Your ID quite useless , they should had spotted all these issues, your grout color for skirting wrong also

    • @david888a
      @david888a Рік тому

      Anything is possible , in order to control a single light from 2 locations,in this instance,the switch by the entrance of the door n the switch by the bed, you need a common electrical cable between the 2 switches. This is a 3 way switch setup not 2 way. Check with your ID,his or her electrician would know how they connected those wires n lights. If it’s a false wall n ceiling then it’s easier , just open it up, buy the 3 way switches, run the common wire , connect it n it’s done. Replaster the wall n ceiling…good as new…
