Most people only share their successes. Thank you for being honest about what didn’t work out and guiding others
You’re welcome. I think articles and videos about mistakes + tips are very useful. I watched a lot of similar videos before starting our projects and some videos really helped us to avoid some mistakes. But nothing comes out ideal and we still had something that could be done differently.
Thank you for your honesty. IMO I don't think that the countertop looks bad because it doesn't exactly match your cabinets, nor do I think that the sides look bad.
I am still trying to get used to it, lol. And I’m not changing the countertop anytime soon.
Please take your garbage container to the left side, then take your tea towel bar to the other side this will protect your other door from hitting. Another solution for your mixer and other kitchen gadgets that require hydro, add an extension cord to your microwave outlet, by drilling a hole big enough to plug in the cord place the 6 outlet socket your require by attaching the extension to the outside cabinet under your counter [top ]so no one can see it
There may be plumbing that is in the way.
I have a garbage disposal on the left and I can’t really fit the garbage bin. I can squeeze a small bin but that is not very practical as well.
For the electrical outlet, I am changing the electrical panel and adding more lines to ensure that it provides enough power. (We tried to extend from the existing outlet but then I could not use two appliances at the same time because the power would go out. Switch on electric panel turns off basically.)
Very helpful video! Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Thank u uk
Yeah one of the worst mistakes: not measuring everything. Window moulding, door trim, no space between island cabinets for outlets or ventilation, not measuring your microwave or appliances. Measure, measure, measure.
So helpful, thank you. Husband and I had a debate just last night about what cabinets would fit where. Thankfully, we haven’t purchased anything yet.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing your experiences... it's very helpful now that we are starting our remodel. Could I ask you what kind of sink you have? Also, maybe an induction stove could be a good option for you? You won't need to get a gas line, but you do need to make sure that you have enough amperage to support the power needs of induction. Thanks again!
Yes, Undermount Workstation Kitchen Sink amzn.to/3ZveWtq. I am looking into induction stoves but I am still not quite sure. I have never used it and it is quite pricy ($2000 or higher from what I saw). On the other hand, gas stove is about $1200 and running the gas line is about $1000, so total is about the same.
Im redoing my kitchen now and found your video helpful. You should easily be able add an outlet to the side of your peninsula by wiring it from the microwave outlet
We will be remodeling our bathrooms in a month and I’ll definitely ask my contractor to fix my outlet issues in the kitchen as well.
Hi, I am just kinda wondering why instead of waiting 3 months, you didn't just hire someone to cut you some plywood counter tops for temporary use? Typically I wouldn't ask such a silly question, but you guys said you're investors. Did you stay in your main property for the 3 months? Or did you live out of a rental for that time?
We saved and used the old countertop for 3 months. That did not cover all the new counter space. Also, we had dishwasher working but no sink attached to the water. Basically we were using powder room to get water 🥲. I think to make our life easier I could ask to leave the old sink as well and reconnect to water. In addition, I should have purchased some plywood, cut it and use as a countertop.
I just didn’t expect that it would take so much time.
We had renovations going on in the rental property and our kitchen in parallel so we stayed at home.
Maby you can think about changing your cabinet handels to somthing smaller and a softer material like wood? I like your clean style Thank you 🙂
I might change them in the future, lol.
What type of counter top do you have? Other than the color complaint, do you like the material?
Yes, I love it overall. By the way, I uploaded detailed review video about solid surface countertop. That will give you more info
@@meerimmoldali416 okay, thank you. Yes, I saw it afterward. Thanks again!
