  • In this video Miss Sew demonstrates how to change the thread on your overlocker / serger using the quick method of tying on new threads and pulling them through your machine.
To allow the threads to be pulled through the machine, release the tension on the tension dials by lifting the presser foot. If this does not work for your machine, turn the tension dials to 0.

Excellent explanation! It worked first time for me. I used to dread changing the thread and never bothered with matching thread. Thank you so much!

You’re welcome!! I’m so pleased it works for you. So much quicker than rethreading the whole machine 🤩

Super, thanks! I tried to do it by stitching but the knots must have got stuck. I came on here and was delighted to find this easy explanation (and the same machine as me!). Pulling them through manually worked a treat!

I have a question. Sometimes when I sew dry fit or soft stretchy material, the needle keeps sticking in the material and makes a knot. Any tips on why this may be happening? Thank you.

Maybe try a different needle type or size? A thinner needle (one with a smaller number on the packaging) may help.
