Thanks, very insightful. Especially the explanation of the size-to-clown-shoe effect ratio and the description of the colour alteration under sunlight exposure was new to me.
I've been doing some boot research for the last month or so. I ordered some Wolverine 1000MILE boots because they were on sale. If they don't work out, I'm just going to my local Red Wing store, get some of these or the blacksmiths and call it a day......
That's really cool. In grocery stores old stock is supposed to be pulled forward and the newer food items placed behind the older. You've got to know that in Red Wing or other shoe stores workers get a little lazy and do the opposite, placing new stock in front of older stock because it's not perishable. I would love to learn more stories like yours. What is the oldest pair of boots to be sold as new stock? Have to wonder if a pair had been sitting on a shelf 10 or 20 years before it sold. Thanks for your comment.
Yes, I saw a photo of a guy modling them, but they must have been size 11 or 12. His very narrow pants didnt help either combined with the camera position really lent them the clown shoe look. Im only size 8 but my problem is that Im quite short and the tiny heel doesn't help much in that department. Anyway, I knew that when I was buying them and it doesn't bother me so much.
Thanks for the information. I was thinking about getting the Blacksmith in Briar Oil Slick but was thinking 9 1/2 D since it doesn't come in E or wide widths. So you solved my problem: 10 it will be. Thank you for that very helpful information.
they look great, i like ur commitment to your art with the light bulb change! what shoe tree do u recommend for a good tight fit around the pre toe area?
@@CharlesBecket yeh good move i think, absorb the moisture. If you find one with a really good tight fit for a ranger hopefully you'll share the name/make here

I use the cheap plastic trees, but I'm thinking of upgrading to cedar.
