My biggest complaint about Iron Rangers is the thin soles. Ouch. With a substantial resole like you did here, that is now a very fine boot. Looks great and should last a long time too.
@shakebake2680 The midsole adds to the separation of the foot from the ground. The thinner everything is from your foot to the ground, you will feel it. Also, those soles will make the feet feel nice.
Amazing work, I especially like the fact that you cleaned before the rebuild and oiled after you were done, you don't see a lot of thies other places doing that, they might but you'd never know it. Thank you for taking the time to make the video
Very nicely done! That's a tough looking sole, which I'm sure will serve your customer very well. I didn't know Vibram made a gum-rubber colored sole. They certainly have something for everyone. Great job, Aaron!
I think they look cool doctored up. Both the Ir and Mocs are like a blank canvas. Granted you can order a pair of nicks with your own personal touches for the cost of an Red Wing plus all the cobbler labor
Que guapas han quedado, es como una segunda vida, cero que han quedado mejor que nuevas, las arrugas del uso con la suela nueva adquieren un caracter muy bonito, saludo y gran trabajo.
Nice job again. I always love how your natural finish edging work comes out. What do you use to finish it before you buff it on the wheel. It always has that slight tan color, and it's not to matte or to glossy. Keep up the great work!
Got the same question ... what the use or function of that ? Can imagine that it connect better the outer-sole onto the mid-sole ... but is gluing not enough ? Certainly if you're adding screws. In fact have the same question with adding the screws ??? or is this just for esthetical reasons ?
Saludos!

Red wing wraps the shank with cloth to prevent squeaking. The piece of leather is a cover. So you don't stand on the nails. The redwing one was probably wore out.
hey man, I live overseas but if i sent my Red Wings would you do a resole service for me ? i am gladly paying all the expense from sent and receiving plus the cost of replacing the sole itself. Wow I cannot believe I found this video as these are the soles I’ve been trying to imagine on my roughout iron rangers! I want to uses my rangers as actual work boots, but the factory soles are just pissy & more for the average day man or office worker.
New to shoes so sorry if my comment is rather off, but why not keep the previous rand? Did not look that bad according to me? But great job and nice video! (:
Those boots are 100% better than they were when they came out of the factory. You are a master of your craft.
🙏
Best outcome Ive seen yet from an Iron Ranger re-sole. Bravo👏👏👏. Magnificent work
🙏
You transform those boots into a pair of great hikers/traveling boots. Beautiful work, as always
Agreed.
Thank you very much!

Mine, too. When I resole mine, I want a leather midsole added, and I really like the gum colored sole he used on this pair!
Is that the honey lug vibram sole?
YEP!!!
How much more comfortable is it with an added midsole?
@shakebake2680 The midsole adds to the separation of the foot from the ground. The thinner everything is from your foot to the ground, you will feel it. Also, those soles will make the feet feel nice.

I’m saving this video for when it’s time to resole mine. You’re a true craftsman, beautiful work and great video.
Thank you good Sir!
I really appreciate how you wrap the shanks before putting them back in the shoe. A lot of cobblers just leave them bare when they put them back.

They make em’ for same price with this or equivalent sole and I’d have a hard time saying NO!
Nice work my man.

For the price of iron rangers, you'd think they'd at least put a 4 mill leather midsole.
I think they look cool doctored up. Both the Ir and Mocs are like a blank canvas. Granted you can order a pair of nicks with your own personal touches for the cost of an Red Wing plus all the cobbler labor
