Josh I really underestimated the mini and I think you have definitely changed my mind. Looking forward to the mods you do to this brother 👏🏾❤
That’s what I love to hear. You won’t be disappointed
I p/xd my BMW M235i for a JCW MINI and don't regret it, it's a more rewarding and exciting drive.
Nice video. Ive had my m140i for 2 years now and im seriously considering the JCW, the 140 is rapid but cant beat the mini for fun factor
I want to own a 140 one day. They are beasts
@@JoshBatesYT yeah they are rapid in a straight line, but there is almost too much power for the car as it does get a bit squiffy from the rear when pushing it. Had a bit of a play with a JCW off the line and it got way ahead of me very quickly.
Cool Video, big man - I am hopefully taking delivery of my JCW in a week’s time (or maybe 2?)!
So much looking forward to it, and your video made me look forward to it even more than before!
They are such good fun you will love it
Great looking Mini! Great specification. Great video! 👍🏻💥
such a smart looking car, what's your preference, fwd or rwd? heard 140i's weren't very good in terms of cornering so massively put me off
They both have there pros and cons. FWD understeers more, RWD oversteers more. I prefer oversteer but this mini is so grippy there's not much understeer. My choice though would be RWD
@@JoshBatesYT yeah understeering unintentionally can cause some proper brown pants moments 😂 see only rwd i've driven is transits and my old sierra so power wise wasn't really enough for any backend action unless it's wet (89bhp) 😂
@@NA-gf1zy just based off reviews for the 140i, i've had rwd in the past and pushed it quite hard, not exactly a modern rwd either, a ford sierra, again not known for brilliant handling 😂 every review i've seen so far basically all say there's no confidence in pushing through corners due to boat like feel.
I’ve got one myself quality cars. Don’t think people understand until they actually drive one. They pull hard. I would love a pro exhaust but they are insanly pricey.
They are an insane car. Im getting my resonator taken out soon to give it a bit more volume as thats a lot cheaper than the pro exhaust.
Honestly was impressed when you said you were 18yo, really well done 👍 👍
Thank you
Is JCW comfortable enough for practical daily use?
I used it as a daily and it was great. Only thing is the boot is tiny so I really used it as a 2 seater as the rear seats were always down
@@JoshBatesYT Great! Thank you for your reply Josh.
Nice, what year is your f56
It’s 2015
Great car mate and great video! 👍
Thank you 🙏
Congrats bro. Half expected this or the 140. Great choice and a nice next step, drove one of these this week actually, same colour. Very lively car and such a Solid feel
Thank you it’s a nice upgrade in power from the bmw
How do you get cheap insurance ?
I went to the Mini dealership and asked for the best and fastest hatch. The only reason I didn't leave with a JCW is because they don't sell them with a Standard transmission. Only the "S" model has that. Regardless I still love my mini. It might even be cheaper to buy secondhand JCW parts.
2:35 What's that behind you? Cool.
If u consider getting an exhaust I highly recommend the jcw pro exhaust basically straight pipe setup wth a valved system and the pops are even more loud
Yeah I definitely want to get it in the future
Got my jcw at the beginning of the year, awesome little go-karts aha
There amazing to drive
Haha... Your reaction when it started popping! Brilliant! 😂👍
Love my JCW GP3, best car I have ever owned/driven and I'm coming from a 426whp Type R FK8... the Mini is BETTER and even more savage than my Type R was. With the Mini I gotta be focused on the drive at all times... even at 95mph on an uneven road it will dance around... kind of scary but FUN at the same time. I wish we had those awesome BMW hot hatches in the US but the closest I could get to it is the Mini 😁
Wow thats crazy you guys don't get the bmw hot hatches they are insane cars. The Minis are still a load of fun especially down a narrow country road.
2:19 I’m liking the new camera angle
Me too 👍
Defo recommend the pro exhaust since its a pre lci - will turn those pops into gunshots
Yeah I definitely want the pro exhaust put on at some point
Have a look at videos on the JCW pro exhaust, absolutely mental
Yeah I have and I absolutely love the sound of it with that on. That will definitely be a mod for the future
@@JoshBatesYT nice, enjoy man! I’ve just ordered a new JCW but got to wait until November for it to be built 😢
Never really gave Minis the time of day but seeing this I’m not gonna lie it’s growing on me, great little car
The JCW is something else 🔥
Sold my c63 for my jcw nothing else like them great hatchbacks more fun than my mk3 rs
Get a nice parcord Barclet and put it on your key ring so you can hang your keys on your E Break while driving save your trouble when looking for them because mini has NO WHERE to put them
There’s a small little bit behind the gearstick where the keys sit pretty nicely
Just realised I commented the same on your other video ahha XD
I am in this exact same situation !!!! Test driving a JCW this week and an M140i ! I've been stuck for 6 months deciding and still nowhere closer fgs XD.
My first car was a cooper S second gen and I loved it ! I moved onto an F type V6 and my partner got the F56 cooper s but I couldn't gel with it after driving a couple times. It felt so disconnected compared to my old R56. I really really want to like the JCW when I go to test drive it but reckon ill also give the m140i a go as well and see what that feels like. AHhhhh !!!
How you get insurance so cheap im 18 had a licence for a year with no claims and a 2L is 4k??
Minis are usually cheaper to insure than other 2 litre cars, I had my license for 2 months with 1 accident and a mini sd was only 1.3k a year
Hey Josh, I work for a company in the insurance industry, and I’m interested in sponsoring your channel. Please give me a good contact Email if that’s something you’d be interested in. Thanks!
My email is in the description of every video if you take a look down there. Thanks
Trying to decide what’s more important… 2019 mini jcw or that money towards a house… will end up getting a loan tbh, how did you pay for it? Loan, pcp, or outright? Be nice to know what kind of APR your getting if your paying finance / loan
I paid outright for it
@@JoshBatesYT how much did ya pay if u dont mind me asking?
Mini JCW of course 😂
So enjoyed watching you enjoy
All round awesome choice! 🔥
🔥🔥
Thing with the Auto is you get that blurp sound at high revs on upshifs and pops when you downshift,i have a manual 2015 S F56,simple resonator delete a tuning box and Pipercross lifetime air filter and i dont even want anymore mods had zero issues with TMC used tuning box £60 off Fleebay for the last 2 years now,and my mini has the full JCW's body kit and 18" cup alloys,i owned a 2015 Fiesta ST Mk7 Ecoboost for a year in the past too i couldnt afford the Mini over the Fiesta back then but i have no regrets with the Mini over ST,the Fiesta was too harsh around town and the seats just did not cushion it's hard bobby ride like the Mini can.
Yeah that sounds nice. I definitely want the resonator taken out soon and then eventually get the pro exhaust
@@JoshBatesYT Why bother with JCW's pro the flap looks silly when closed on one tail pipe and if you have drive modes you have some noise control just with the resonator delete by being in sport or mid mode,my car still does an odd pop now and again even in mid mode try the res delete first you could save £1300-1500 even a Scorpion exaust with res deleted already is £550-£750.
Even a hard down pipe mabe an option?
@@teggsy2165 yeah I'm definitely going to do a res delete first but eventually I will get pro exhaust and that flap isn't gonna be closed often 😂
Worth a watch if you have not already.

Great video Josh
£1600 is really decent at 18
Thank you and yes I was very pleasantly surprised
Just found your channel looks good ngl mate 👍🏼
Thank you
Hi, what insurance are you with and how long have you been passed if you don’t mind me asking. :)
I've been passed exactly a year now and im just insured with the cheapest company on comparison websites.
@@JoshBatesYT I’ve been passed roughly 6 months now, what do you reckon would be highest insurance group car I can get as I have a 118i right now?
Admiral insured my jcw 10 months no claims and full license
You’ve made me kind of like minis now 😅😅
That’s what I love to hear 🔥
this is the same 1.6 isnt it ?
No its the 2.0 twin power turbo
Owned my JCW since 2018 - the longest car I’ve owned as it’s such a great little car. It’s a 2017 car with the loud exhaust.
In 2020, I added some mods to make it even better:
DMS remap - 280bhp/430Nm - you can feel the difference with the extra power!
Full dechrome by Mini
AC Schnitzer Lowering Springs
OZ Ultraleggera 18” wheels
Michelin PS4 tyres - highly recommend mod get rid of the runflats!
Tarox Rear Sport Japan Cross Drilled Discs and pads
2 more mods this summer:
JCW Pro Rear Diffuser
Duell AG style front carbon splitter by Mulgari
Planned 2023 upgrades:
Tarox Sport Japan Front Discs and pads
Tarox Braided hoses and brake fluid
If you can’t tell already, this one is a keeper!
That is a lot of mods. Hopefully one day I will do just as many
Solid wee car Josh i’m sure the mods will be just as class
Oh they will be 👌
