If you didn’t see the whole show, Trey gives a long thanks to everyone involved at the end of the last song and forgets to mention Tony. This clip picks up after Trey is done. Love how Tony brings it up and Treys rebound. Tony’s banter over the Beacon jams was classic. Sad to see a member of the Trey family depart. He was such an key piece to the whole. RIP Tony!
I am so happy watch this again but absolutely crushed watching this now knowing I never get to see Tony slap out his amazing bass lines again. Rest in peace brother.
So the first time I saw TAB was in 1999 at the state theater in Portland Maine, Trey did a solo first set that was very intimate and personal. The second set was the first time I ever heard/saw Tony. This is the song that they opened that set with and I ams till to this day blown away by what I heard. They have obviously dialed in this song since then but honestly it was just absolute fire the first time I saw it live. Thanks for everything!!!!
First time for me was at Higher Ground, Winooski, VT in the late 90s. Never the same after that. Still my favorite tune. I'll never forget being eye level with the band, Tony leaning back and thumping his fingers over and over again on his bass strings. Totally fucking epic.
Yes, Tony was the pulse, the pump, the pop and the shuffle. I’m so sad that he’s no longer ‘with us’ but his legacy is incredibly amazing and prolific. Trey, and all of us were so ridiculously blessed to have his participation and his love of music to enjoy. RIP Tony.
Lol, I was just listening to first tube from June beacon and I came here to watch Trey as well and first tube was the first song that popped up. So grateful! 💚🙌
Worthy of much praise - Is what you just did for Tony and that’s what Anthony actually means. That was an absolute horn bag of beauty from The Beacon. We danced DownUnder 💃🏼🇦🇺🕺🏻
There’s nothing that can make up for the loss of Tony and the sadness it brings. But having this rippin’ First Tube as my last memory of him brings a smile my face. RIP Tony
What can I say Trey.. I think the only person smiling bigger than you during this performance is me!! Tony was a treasure and your music makes my heart feel good brother.. please keep creating!!
This clip is the definition of bittersweet - so joyful but yet so sad too - so glad you posted this! It gives me a "happy ache" (a term my then 3 year old son used to use for just such a thing!).
A fucked up year for sure, but there was a light in the distance. Thanks Beacon...thanks TAB....and, as always - thanks Trey for it all. Rest In Peace Tony. We'll see you on the other side...
Seek the out-of-print CD "Big Joe Burrell Featuring the Unknown Blues Band: Live at Hunts" it's one of the most listenable recordings in my whole collection. Tony's rock solid bass lines are the perfect engine for Big Joe's larger-than-life sound. RIP Meat Man
