Blue Beetle was a decent entry into the DCU. Much like the first WW or Shazam!, I enjoyed this film quite a bit. I liked the fact that all the characters had exposure and a great amount of screen time. I like Susan Sarandon but she wasn't that menacing even with Carapax, which is my only gripe. The action and pacing was well done and I liked the after credit scene. More Beetle to come. Great reaction.
I know it's a superhero movie and a lot of creative license is taken in regards to reality, but you cant JUST IGNORE THE NORMAL LAWS OF PHYSICS without consequence ... in THIS case poor box office sales and a mediocre IMDB rating (only got a 6.0). TWO examples near the beginning, a person falling straight down, even from space, will NOT generate any significant amounts of heat, and a motor vehicle that's cut in half will NOT remain upright and would instead fall towards the center (the wheels are on the outside). It was ENTERTAINING ... but it DESERVES a flop just for those.
As it’s been said many times, this movie really didn’t deserve the flop. I find it sad that it did but at least we know he’s in james gunns dcu, and hopefully we get a follow up to this specific story whenever the next blue beetle movie is since they built such a special connection with him and his family.

I can assure you, watching this movie as a Latina is a completely different experience, and watching it as a Brazilian with a Brazilian audience... Bruna Marquezine is a big deal here. We've watched this girl grow up, acting her heart out and making us cry since she was six years old in our telenovelas. For starters, we would show up at theaters asking for tickets for 'the Bruna movie.' The hype when her name appears in the opening credits? Woah! When she speaks in Portuguese, just one line, the theater celebrates as if it were a World Cup goal. Seeing her in such an important (international) role was a source of pride for a nation. Blue Beetle didn't revolutionize the genre, but the cultural background hit the right spot.
As an Mexican-American I felt so represented and i loved this movie they got accurately a lot of stuff that Mexican families do, and when my family and I watched it, it was a blast. I was happy that you guys saw the film that you guys enjoyed it❤

I love the strong hispanic cultural element and Jaime's character growth. Everyone in the Reyes family is great, especially Rudy. George Lopez slays this role.
The death scene alone made this movie for me, usually films will pass on the moment but it felt real, the emotions from the family felt authentic and brought me back to when I lost my mother back in 2016, truly this is my personal favorite dc film that I will rewatch countless times, hopefully gunn allows the family and Jenny Korg to also come back in the new dcu alongside xólo as blue beetle Nuff said
This movie hits even harder for latino watchers because it it hilariously and aggressively latino. All the small easter eggs, the little details, the filming locales in Puerto Rico, it was honestly such a blast to watch in theaters.
I think you should know that the girl who plays Jenny Kord, Bruna Marquezine is a Brazilian actress and this was her first big role in Hollywood we Brazilians are very proud of her funfact: when she says "me too" to victoria in the end she actually spoke in Portuguese
The Reyes family are by far the best thing about this otherwise by-the-numbers caper. Funny, endearing and surprising, they recall the family in The Incredibles, and give the story its heart.
This was such a great movie in my top 5 for the summer movies blue beetle is a great DC character and to see him and the history of the other two blue Beatles is a dream come true
This is one of the better superhero movies in recent years and I’m so upset that it flopped at the box office because it didn’t deserve to, at all. "Kick their asses" is an ok translation but doesn't bring across the vulgarity of the statement. I would say "fuck them up" or "beat the fuck out of them" is better in terms of the vibe lol. There's a lot of slang in spanish that is pretty vulgar and for some reason movies translate it to a much tamer version of it. Maybe to keep with the pg13 rating.
The Oreos in frame at 51:50 was stated to be a very purposeful reference to something in the comics, and Martian Manhunter is a notorious fan of them. So, by process of elimination. apparently means that Ted Kord is likely doing something with Martian Manhunter
Out of all things, I did expect O.M.A.C to have a role in this. I guess it makes sense since the reason Ted Kord was killed in the comics was because of O.M.A.C

There aren't many live action DC movies with young superheroes, I like how Blue Beetle is the first young DC hero to get a live action movie because he doesn't get enough focus in animated movies and I don't think the general public knows him well. I like how they didn't have everyone at the corporation be evil, Jenny, the girl in the white, helping out is a good idea because she knows the building in and out and can help. We need more young DC superheroes in DCU theatrical movies.

Yeah, the way they centred the movie on Jamie and his family, and KEPT it centred on the family, without sacrificing Jaime's screen time is what made this movie so good to me. Like, yeah, he's this big kickass, awesome hero guy now but he still kinda needs his family in the way that you SHOULD 'need' your family. And then at the end when a whole bunch of the community turn up to show their support and offer their respects for Jamie's dad, like community SHOULD rally together. Also, I too got big Iron Man 1 vibes from the first big fight between Jamie and Carapax, but even then they managed to distance themselves from being just another rip-off really well, especially with the way they had Carapax redeem himself at the end. That moment when his mother comes to him and tells him it's time to come home gets the tears flowing every damn time.
We love to see how Andrew was very moved all along the movie ! Truth is, whatever is your impression about the movie as a whole, at this end of the day what's for sure is that it has a soul and a heart, with this deep and strong family bond that's at the core of it... I remember shedding a few tears for 2 or 3 scenes of the movie (the one between Jaime and his dad in order for Jaime to find his purpose and finally manage to be in complete tune with the Blue Beetle was particularly powerful on an emotional-standpoint)...
I saw the movie with my friends we all agreed is had some superhero cliches also agreed is was a good watch. I end up seeing myself in Jaime like I would with Peter Parker. Plus that scene with Jaime trying to protect his family and his father dying got me 😢

The scarab is bound to Jaime at a microscopic level to his spine, it’s literally impossible to remove without killing him even the Atom shrinking down small enough to go inside Jaime’s body can’t succeed, while he was able to cut it at first it quickly started sending out its own army of anti bodies that attack him and they also went a repaired the damage he did to look as good as new. It’s a curse and a gift.
Fun fact: thats Jason Sudeikas who provided the voice for ted and we can clearly see his face in the painting. Hopefully james brings him back if they make a sequel.
I understand why it was a domestic flop, the producers made risky decisions by making the story full of references to Mexican and Latin culture, with characters speaking in Spanish most of the time. But as a chilean it is incredible to see those references to, for example, Violeta Parra or Don Francisco and they also made me connect with the family, which is something very Latin. It's one of my favorite DCU movies even though it's a generic origin story...

Didnt expect to have a new fave movie react duo on this channel, but Tara and Andrew have risen to the top of my list super fast. Theyre reactions arw always so awesome to watch. And may i also say, this movie deserved so much more love at the box office. It was a great script, some great acting, stellar casting, and super cool effects and set pieces. The practical beetle suit is the best superhero costume on screen in a while. And homie did a great job bringing the character to life. I guess the stink of the past few years of DC films kept people away....justly or not. Its a shame, i hope we see much more of Blue Beetle in Gunns new DC movie universe

It’s supposed to be in El Paso. That’s where it was filmed and that’s where Blue Beetle lives in the comics, but they changed it to your standard DC generic city in post production for some reason. That’s why there’s El Paso stuff all over the Taco, they live on El Paso Street.

This movie was a total love letter to the overall Blue Beetle legacy! Crazy to think that the name has continued to be successfully used since the 1940s.
So James Gunn confirming Xolo will return as Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle for DCU but now will the Blue Beetle version be a newer version as this is going to be set in the DCU timeline while the the Blue Beetle film kind of set in the DCEU timeline. I feel with actors reprising their roles they will be doppelgangers appearing in the new DCU timeline with previous events having never happened unless James Gunn gives another explanation. John Cena's Peacemaker will return but season 2 will it continue a new story completely ignoring the events of season 1 as that took place during the main DCEU timeline.

The best part of this for sure is the family aspect. The superhero bits just feel like reused stuff mostly from Iron Man 1&2 and Venom but it ended up meh. But the family stuff KILLED me cause my dad died awhile ago but it never feels any better so this really hit hard.

Some movies are just meant to be fun. Of course it's a bit of a cliched superhero movie, but it's fine to be just that. The suit is mostly practical and I think he does his own moves. Many superhero movies don't do that nowadays.

Yeah blue beetle is one of my favorites so I hated to see it flop, however I absolutely loved the movie.

The only thing I disliked about this reaction was the guy comparing everything to Marvel, this is way better than Marvel.

The strikes severely screwed up the cast and crew who worked so hard to create this film. They deserved better.

I understand why it was a domestic flop, the producers made risky decisions by making the story full of references to Mexican and Latin culture, with characters speaking in Spanish most of the time. But as a chilean it is incredible to see those references to, for example, Violeta Parra or Don Francisco and they also made me connect with the family, which is something very Latin. It's one of my favorite DCU movies even though it's a generic origin story...
Nah. It flopped because these 2 people just watched a Blue Beetle movie and still no nothing about Blue Beetle. They did get to enjoy a fun Mexican family movie, though. So, they know about Mexicans.
Didnt expect to have a new fave movie react duo on this channel, but Tara and Andrew have risen to the top of my list super fast. Theyre reactions arw always so awesome to watch. And may i also say, this movie deserved so much more love at the box office. It was a great script, some great acting, stellar casting, and super cool effects and set pieces. The practical beetle suit is the best superhero costume on screen in a while. And homie did a great job bringing the character to life. I guess the stink of the past few years of DC films kept people away....justly or not. Its a shame, i hope we see much more of Blue Beetle in Gunns new DC movie universe

It’s supposed to be in El Paso. That’s where it was filmed and that’s where Blue Beetle lives in the comics, but they changed it to your standard DC generic city in post production for some reason. That’s why there’s El Paso stuff all over the Taco, they live on El Paso Street.
Because in the comics he is now from Palmera city because DC wanted him to have his own city like every other character.

As a latina I had an extra GREAT time, it definitely did not deserve to bomb but DC’s brand image is so fucked right now 😵💫 I would watch a sequel to this in a heartbeat, the Reyes feel like my family and I want to see more of them but we probably won’t except for Jaime in whatever 5 minute cameo James Gunn ends up putting him in 🙁 alsoooo the action in here RULED 🙌🏻
I hope the credits scene of Ted Lord being alive is built upon in the new DCU, like the BB characters are staying in the universe but they events of the movie happened differently cuz it’s not connected to the original universe

This movie was a total love letter to the overall Blue Beetle legacy! Crazy to think that the name has continued to be successfully used since the 1940s.
So James Gunn confirming Xolo will return as Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle for DCU but now will the Blue Beetle version be a newer version as this is going to be set in the DCU timeline while the the Blue Beetle film kind of set in the DCEU timeline. I feel with actors reprising their roles they will be doppelgangers appearing in the new DCU timeline with previous events having never happened unless James Gunn gives another explanation. John Cena's Peacemaker will return but season 2 will it continue a new story completely ignoring the events of season 1 as that took place during the main DCEU timeline.

I don't think any of these details are set in stone. There's nothing written for any of the characters beyond Superman and maybe Batman.
I don't see the need to reboot since this movie is very disconnected from the dceu it can easily fit into the new dcu.

The best part of this for sure is the family aspect. The superhero bits just feel like reused stuff mostly from Iron Man 1&2 and Venom but it ended up meh. But the family stuff KILLED me cause my dad died awhile ago but it never feels any better so this really hit hard.

@@Aryansh_11 That's what the picture is hinting and it still hasn't been confirmed as of yet but the director said he would love to have the actor in the film. Also the post credit scene showed Ted Kord being trapped so he is alive.

Some movies are just meant to be fun. Of course it's a bit of a cliched superhero movie, but it's fine to be just that. The suit is mostly practical and I think he does his own moves. Many superhero movies don't do that nowadays.

It's just pathetic that DCEU Snyderverse Fanboys would rather watch The Flash over this...hence why it didn't make any movie. Because this is way better. A better coherent story, a better character development and evolving thorough out the movie, a family dynamic and life lessons. The villain, although a small villain and forgettable...still better than not giving us, Reverse Flash for the first solo Flash movie. Blue Beetle had WAY BETTER CG than whatever the hell, the Flash gave us. And the director to give Flash bad CG, on purpose, is a load of horsesh!t.

Flash only made 30 mil more, which is an embarrassment considering the hype.

I’m subscribed to a lot of YT channels & not a single one has done a reaction to The Flash. They should’ve just copied the blueprint of the Flashpoint animated movie. This was basically what people were afraid No Way Home could’ve been. It’s a shame how studios like Warner & Sony are wasting Michael Keaton’s talents on shit like The Flash & Morbius.
