Actually.....The FORD service manual states that you start at the outside and work inwards for the head bolts........SO, maybe in this case it is right....

Most factory OEM service manuals specify removal of a cylinder head in the reverse sequence to installation.

You are quite correct brisXr6t start from the outside on head removal the opposite of head installation, makes sense dosen't it.
