Remember BBQ in Texas must include brisket. You can get pork ribs and sausage too but brisket (moist) is the way to go. Also, don’t ever let them put sauce directly on your bbq. If it’s good it won’t need sauce. It can be on the side and you decide if like it and how much.

Watching this makes me feel like I don’t appreciate being an American enough, I’ve seen several UA-camrs that moved here from poor countries and the appreciation they have… even South Koreans talk about how much appreciation they have for us. I just wish we appreciated our own country
As a Canadian, I have been to Cuba a few times. Once Cubans become free again, it will be the most festive place on the earth! Cubans are good people that deserve better.
I agree. I didn't cry, but I have to say it got to me. I've watched thousands of videos on UA-cam but this has to be one of the best videos I've ever seen. You wouldn't think a simple video of someone eating a steak would make you stop and think but this one does

I would like to buy steak. Cooked cow meat. What do you mean there are different types of steak? That doesn't even make sense. Your words have no meaning.
It's all about where on the cow it came from. The way it was cut. Some parts from the cow, are more tender than others. Some have no fat ( lean) like sirloin. Very tender. 😊 Others are more fatty like a ribeye. Still tender but with more fat comes a different richer flavor. All in all they are all good, it comes down to to personal preference. I hope that helps. 😊
@@starjared12345I love steak fat. My family makes fun of me because they cut a lot off and I don’t cut any. As long as its hot, the far can be chewed without issue, and it tastes great!
I showed this video to my oldest son. He had no idea that people couldn’t eat beef in Cuba. He’s starting to realize how lucky we are here. Thank you again for sharing.
"I showed this video to my oldest son. He had no idea that people couldn’t eat beef in Cuba. " Because it's not 100% true. Try learning the complete story behind this myth before passing it on as fact. After the Russkies left Cuba, they were forced into passing laws that required all beef to be used for reproduction and dairy. Cuba passed the "no killing" rule when Hurricane Flora took out a large percentage of their beef herd. Things were getting better until the Soviet Union collapsed. The beef herds are still not up to the level they once were, but they're back to a level that Cuba relaxed this "no kill" law over a year ago. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good "Cuba is evil," story. :-) Meanwhile, back in the good ol' U.S. of A., beef prices are becoming too expensive because the main suppliers (of said beef) decided they weren't making enough money so they raised the prices beyond any rate of inflation. I love our country but we're FAR from perfect. Notice how we can't even cope with a distrubution problem in this country?

When my grandfather first came to the United States from Mexico, he promised himself that if he became successful, he would eat only steak for a month, and when he graduated law school and became a lawyer, he did just that...
I worked at steak and Alex. We got ours 50%off plus free salad, rice, vegetables, salad bar. After a month I ate it much less but that was always my favorite place to eat. I have had more expensive but at 18 it was good enough for me

As a person who was born outside of the US and moved to the US to eventually become a naturalized citizen, I can totally appreciate all this in your channel. Wish you 1000% the best...sometimes I wonder if it would be good if US-born kids spend at least a couple of years both abroad and in the military so they can enrich their lives by appreciating more what they have.
I was such a child. My dad was a shrink in the Air Force and we were stationed at Azores, Wiesbaden, and Texas. ( Talk about a foreign country.) I grew up and joined the USAF and went to the Philippines at Clark just before God said, "No!" and he smiteted us with earthquakes, typhoons, and Pinatubo. I remember flying back into LA in 1990 and wandering the aisles of a major LA shopping mall and being as the Brits say, "Gobsmacked". My wife's parents were visiting from the PI around 1997 and at some point they went to the local PetSmart store here in Waco, TX and the mom turns to my wife and says, "They have a supermarket for dogs and cats?" Total disbelief. When I showed the old man my gun collection, he looked at me and said, "Don't you worry about the Government? Or the Communists?"
Thank you. Many Immigrants face such harsh emotions of happiness and regret. And many just come for the opportunities we all came here for. We all know a “yoel”. Thank you for this comment. ❤️❤️❤️
I like your idea, it would change their world and ours too. I get the commie teachers filling their heads with crap but where the hell are their parents who should have taught them patriotism, that freedom isn't free and many died so they could have it and what those stars and stripes mean and why you should be willing to die to protect them?
@Yoel And Mari my mom and I can really appreciate your channel. I moved to the US when young but she lived in Asia until her 30s, moving to the US at that time. Keep it up!
Both of you need to try a Ribeye steak next time. This cut has perfect marbling which is flecks of intramuscular fat in the meat. Marbling affects meat's juiciness, tenderness, texture, and flavor.
id second the ribeye, its the most flavorful steak IMO. tho i like mine somewhere between medium and medium well, still plenty of pink inside but a bit of charring on the outside for that smoky flavor. the Texas roadhouse in my area i dont think had a ribeye on the menu, its been awhile since ive been with covid and all, but they had a pretty good filet minion, tho i think i usually got a sirloin, since it was about twice the size and same price or cheaper, and they did it fairly well. we used to have a Lonestar steakhouse here and their ribeye was usually just about perfect. too bad the one i always went to closed a few years back.

That’s a funny way to look at. Because if you turn the news on today at all, you’re blasted with reminders how evil, far behind, and racist we are as a nation…lol thrash news. As a first generation American myself, whose parents are immigrants, I take nothing for granted and appreciate the freedoms and rights we are granted under the blanket of freedom.
But look at our country now in just over a year of the Sleepy Joe/Kackle Kamala regime. They're purposely destroying our prosperity. If this continues on the same pace of decline we won't be a functioning constitutional republic in a year.
His reaction to A1 was...*chef kiss*. I can't even explain how happy it makes me that someone eating their first steak ever can recognize sacrilege when they taste it. King right there.
I was thinking the same thing! Imagine getting steak for the first time and then coating with essentially flavored vinegar! (plum or grape or both can't recall which).

When he puts that giant first piece of meat in his mouth, OMG!! It is so genuine when he closes his eyes and savors the first taste of anything he has tried in America so far. Best wishes and love to both of you !!
The sirloin is a really good cut of meat to start at. It's a higher quality steak but not the very best. That means he won't be disappointed but there's still room to improve. I believe the Applebee's Bourbon Street Steak is also a sirloin. You can never go wrong with that. They bring it out on a very loud sizzly cast iron plate and suddenly everyone in the place who didn't order one feels as stupid as they should for not. Pro Tip: If you ever get a BSS from Applebee's, have them bring you a side of honey mustard. Trust me on this. Take one tiny chunk of steak and dip it in the honey mustard. It takes the steak to the next level. Don't sit there and scream BLASPHEMY! Try it with one little chunk of the steak. It pairs perfectly. I've been using this trick for 30 years now.
@@protorhinocerator142 nope, the only person who should feel silly is the guy eating the crappy steak at Applebees instead of a burger or something else they can actually make decently and serve in an edible fashion.

I spent 6 months at Guantanamo Bay in the mid 90’s during the mass immigration to the US. I was a guard (US Marines) in one of the processing camps. I still to this day remember the names of people I met there. It was a very humbling experience as a 20 year old kid from nowhere Utah. Their stories and life experiences opened my eyes to humanity’s good, bad and indifferent. The amazing people of Cuba left a life long impression on me. Yoel reminds of a carpenter I met in the camp. He was always grateful for things we could find for him to do around the camp. His name was Rogelio, and demanded we call him Roger as he wanted an American name. But, we settled on Rog as we told him his name was way cooler than Roger. I’ve deployed to many other countries and Cuba was in my top 3, even though I didn’t see much. The people made it an amazing experience. Wish you two the best and love the videos.

My wife's family came here in the 80s and they took their cousins to the grocery store and Kmart and they cried at all the things they could buy with no restrictions.
I've gone thru this with my husband who grew up a homeless orphan with no one to love or care for his most basic needs. At least once a week I cry in the shower because while I was poor growing up I had a family who loved me....my husband had nothing and no one. I had to show him eating at "fine restaurants" because that is the life my Mother is accustomed to. However 22yrs after my husband and I got married my Mother has been won over by her "son" who she knows will be at her elbow if she needs him.
Cubans in Norway feels the exact same way. But man do they get big and strong in a short period of time after arriving. "Save Cuba" should be a slogan, it's such a beautiful country and deserves better.

Mari, I think your videos are doing more to educate people about socialism/Communism vs. liberty than our own government has been able to do. Thank you.
Hate to break it to you, but our current “government” doesn’t want us to know the deprivations of socialism/communism. They have plans in that direction.
They should be showing these videos in grade schools, middle schools and high schools instead of indoctrinating our children with lies about how great socialism is. Cuba, a perfect example of a communist run, socialist country. They were VERY well off.... until socialist government was established. Bernie Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez and her ilque, this what they want.... A socialist USA.. Owned by the government. Take another look at this video and others about Yoel and his wife when comparisons are made. In another video, Yoel was taken to a movie theater. When his wife said "Yoel, they will bring your hamburger to you (while watching the movie). Yoel was dumbfounded and said" In United States they are concerned for the customer". Those are simple, but powerful words. In a socialist country the government couldn't care less"about the customer". A socialist government will take EVERYTHING from you. Wake up America, socialism is gaining momentum here in America and once it gets a foothold..... Your freedoms will evaporate immediately. Socialism has two claaes of population.. The very rich and the destitute who own nothing, who have nothing. WAKE UP!

It's not just Cuba. There are parts of Africa and India that worship cows. Might be kind of hard finding a steake in those areas too.
We're not "lucky"
It was done intentionally, on purpose.
It was designed as such and carved out at great cost to those who lead the way.
"Luck' ...
"I showed this video to my oldest son. He had no idea that people couldn’t eat beef in Cuba. "
Because it's not 100% true.
Meanwhile, back in the good ol' U.S. of A., beef prices are becoming too expensive because the main suppliers (of said beef) decided they weren't making enough money so they raised the prices beyond any rate of inflation.
I love our country but we're FAR from perfect. Notice how we can't even cope with a distrubution problem in this country?

If you were even half as intelligent as you think you are then you'd realize the majority of people don't want to take your guns, don't want to tell you how to live, and don't want the government controlling the economy. All you're doing when you say stupid shit like that is stirring the pot and furthering division. I can imagine based on what I said you're instantly going to assume I support everything that Biden and the Democratic party has done, and I'll just go ahead and say no I don't. But I also know that it's a far cry from communism, had you read a book or two you'd know this.
@@Abaddonian Oh the left pushing vax and mask mandates. Requiring ID's is so taxing, only you need it for nearly every aspect of your life! Talk about intellectually shallow arguments!!
I never knew how much Cubans are struggling until I started watching your videos, keep up the great work Mari and Yoel!
@DevilDog53 Yeah :( I pray we overcome them all.
they dont teach you about the blockade?
if you might wanna look up something you call "export control". once you understand that, you understand why cuba is in the situation in which it is. it has nothing to do with the cuban government or people, but with you.
Every American born child should be required to watch this. My heart overflows with love and gratitude to God for all blessings!
So sweet but heartbreaking that he just wishes so badly that he could share all these experiences with his fellow Cubans
I'm a 41 year old grown ass man, born in Cuba. My eyes were watery as hell at the first few minutes, seeing the misery of my people. I'm so thankful to God and my parents for taking me out of that country at a very young age. We are blessed and I'm happy to see the enjoyment on his face. Cuidense mucho, y buen provecho siempre!
It always breaks my heart to see the Cubans, knowing that they are suffering from lack of medicine and nutrition. I pray things will be better soon. 🙏🏼😘💞
Weren't cubans oppressing people before they were?
Then u know why socialism and communism should not be allowed to take over in the uss
@@sancholowera lol Under what rock have you been living? Or did you get your education from a communist country as well that teaches only what is convenient?
Sean Penn and Michael Moore would have us believe Cuba is paradise...
Its hard to overstate how touched I am to see Yoel have this moment of appreciation and joy, then, as he always does, stops and thinks of those back home who he cannot share this experience with - and how much it affects him. All the while, surrounded by people who are just "having lunch". Many not knowing how special it is to be able to access all that we have, when we want it, under no threat of imprisonment or punishment. I look forward to the day when you get to bring your family here and live it all over again with them. Hopefully, you will share that here with us too.
I have never been so grateful to find a you tube channel.. your a beautiful couple who truly inspire others to enjoy everything we have in life .. I know this video is older but I spent the last few days watching every video .. I wish you both so much happiness in life I hope someday the people of Cuba can experience these things without fear ..
Wow this opened my eyes to how other countries treat they’re people. Happy he’s here with us now in the USA!!
We have a certain part of the country that want to do the same thing as Cuba...they want to tell you where you can go, what you can do, what is best for your kids, etc. Say hello to the democrats. They love the idea of control yet they are too big of pussies to move to the countries they want to be like.
I've never enjoyed watching someone try new eats as much as I enjoy watching Yoel. He's enjoying the experience, which is awesome.
It makes me so happy that Yoel enjoyed it so much and paid it the proper reverence it deserves. As an American it is bittersweet knowing that others cannot have this simple pleasure. Thank you for sharing and enjoy all the different flavors of BBQ.
Honestly, i love these two! They are such great people. I have a cuban friend here in portland oregon. Hes a good guy as well. So happy they are living the American dream!
Such a great video. The look on his face is priceless! When you have the chance, you have to take Yoel to a Brazilian Steakhouse. He will be overwhelmed with all of the different choices of meat.
A video soon!!
I want to see this man eat a Japanese wagyu A5 steak and see his raw emotions!! Like down below and let's make this happen ASAP!!!
He would be that crying emoji with pools of tears running down his face. Lol
If a normal steakhouse is that amazing I don’t think he could appreciate that level of steak. After eating hundreds or even thousands of steaks then you have something like that… well it is perfection.
My initial response to this was that I wish he went to a better steakhouse than this chain place.
Its NOT all that..its good but NOT the Holy Grail.
@@paulroland5053 I admit I love Texas Roadhouse but I did think the same.
I don't eat a lot of steak because of a limited budget, but looking at this makes me both sad and filled with joy. I can't imagine being told I can't have steak just because! But the look on Yoel's face is so great. It's a small thing, but I'm SO happy for him!
I think I may need to get me a good burger tomorrow. I usually eat chicken. The only beef I eat is usually fast food which just isn’t the same. I need a raise! Lol
We have so much we love giving it away. I hope Yoel is here to stay and that the two of you will be very happy.
WAKE UP!
@@stantheman9072 If we can require term limits for all public offices it should start a turn-around. When people get in government for more than 2 terms they sometimes begin to think they are commanders rather than public servants. The U.S. population is large enough to provide PLENTY of people capable of serving superbly in government.
@@nemo227 agree 100%
the situation in cuba has nothing to do with "communism", but with the blockade you've had on them for decades.....
When in doubt ask the waiter. A good waiter will know what's the best thing on the menu. For me, it would be a ribeye medium rare.
If you guys ever go somewhere, let them know it's your first time every trying something. They WILL treat you better and make sure it comes out the best that they can make it.
Watching you two is a breath of fresh air!! Lot of love to my fellow Cubans!!!!
This had me in tears BIGTIME. As a nation, we have had every kind of food imaginable and at great quantities. I’m so grateful for all that the Lord has blessed me with, and can only feel heartbroken when tyrannical governments suppress what people should be allowed to have, but only gets consumed by the political elite. Evil dictator scum will stand before the judgement seat of God someday and will have an eternity of suffering and loss. This video makes me so grateful to God for all things provided by Him.
Well said my friend!
God bless you and your family ❤
I felt much the same way I'm truly in agreement. As toughest things all right now. We still don't know the pain of a lot of people and we are truly blessed. Even if we can only afford hamburger at this present time
Thank biden

As a fellow Cuban American I can relate. When my sister arrived about 20 years ago she experienced all these things.
I’m Cuban I came when I was 6 years old I’m now 28 , we Cuban deserve more then what we have in cuba godbless you guys ! Abajo el comunismo !
This video came up again in my feed. I can't believe it's been over a year I've been watching y'all. Love you!
This guy just tears my heart apart!!! I wish you both the very best! She’s so understanding, compassionate and loving! Glad you found each other ❤
My heart melts with Yoel every time he gets a new experience like this, and he is torn between enjoying himself and feeling sad because the people back home cannot share it with him. But most of all, I'm so happy for you both! Go Yoel!
Seeing our world through his eyes has made me appreciate all the simple things we normally take for granted.

¡ Felicidades !
Gracias por compartir este momento tan especial y frágil.

His reactions are so pure. I feel like I appreciate more things because of you guys. Thank you for sharing ❤
The honey butter is my favorite! I was so excited for him to try it then he said NO! 😂But everyone has a different taste and I’m so happy he got to try different things here that he hasn’t experienced before.
Yes you can see it in his eyes and heart how appreciative he is to have a steak. Enjoy it sir.
I just found your channel and I ❤ you all!! This content is so real and honest, giving me so much education and humility. ❤❤❤❤
Ya know, I really appreciate the honest gratitude and appreciation Yoel has. I’m in my last year of college and so many of my fellow students bitterly hate this country and want it to be destroyed.
Not getting political, but they take for granted all that we have, thinking it’s a given they have this abundance.
Thank you guys for publishing your journey.
Thank you! They are blessed and don't even know it.
@@TruthTroubadour-xi9cc They're cursed really, because they can never enjoy what they have due to their idiocy and self-inposes guilt.

Sean Easton Wow! How sad it is to learn that about your fellow students because those are the individuals who will help lead this country soon...and, that's a scary proposition. Maybe they should look to take some time and volunteer to help some third world countries in some way (plant and farm, dig wells, build a school, build roads, etc.)
We love you guys!:) thanks for coming to America
As soon as I saw him try it with the A1 and he said "NO", you had a new subscriber. I can also see the gratitude and appreciation across his face, and yeah, a good steak doesn't need sauce. It can compliment it, but doesn't need it.
Steak should never be sauced. Seasoned with sea salt and pepper, nothing more is what I like. Maybe a slice of butter to melt onto it. A good marbled steak has all the flavor in the world.
@@HAPPYFUNTIMEx2 I tend to agree, with the exception that sometimes I give in to the temptation of the blue cheese encrusted steak topper because I love blue cheese. Or peppercorn sauce on occasion, but only subtle things!
A1 is only good if the steak itself sucks.

Thank you for direct explanation of the Cuban government and providing context to this video - this should be mandatory viewing for young people who don't understand how lucky we Americans are. It's really cool hearing Yoel's English as you continue to upload.
That’s the biggest bite of steak I’ve ever seen someone take. Can’t wait to see your Texas videos! Hope you got more steak and BBQ here.
As an American that has consumed literally thousands of steaks in my life, this video brought me to tears. I hope Yoel can eat steak whenever he wants it, for the rest of his life! Next time, ribeye steak (or rib steak on the bone) medium rare. Enjoy America Yoel!
I know this ticked me off just as much. I pretty much eat beef in every meal, and to see this gentleman have his first bite of steak of his entire life makes me very angry. Right now, if a communist were in the room with me, I would make him drink bleach.

Tomahawk ribeye is heaven. And what mister Sid said. I cook a steak better than any steakhouse. Anyone i cooked a steak for would agree.

It remind me of when my Tia came from Cuba in I think, 1991 or 92? We took her to Niagara Falls and at the restaurant she ordered what the menu called the "man-sized" meal: a one pound steak with potato and vegetable. She followed it with apple pie and a large chocolate milkshake! My Tia weighed about 90 pounds when she came, and the waitress looked on in awe as she saw this little woman eat all that food!
Why?
That makes want to cry. I am sure her opinions on communist-socialist society was starkly different than the twenty somethings now that romanticize it as the ideal government.
@@UncleSam13 When you grow up poor or starving and a big meal shows up in front of you, you eat as much as you can. It could be awhile before they get another good meal.

That was perfect! You Gave us just the right amount of information about Cuba and Socialism to let us know why this was important without dwelling on it so long that it sounded overly political. It was just right to let the viewer understand why eating the steak was so important. Very powerful. Great job!
In a split second we watched this man turn into an American. Glad to have you brother.
What a beautifully authentic heart he has. It´s such a great reminder that we should be so thankful for the blessings we take for granted.

Yoel I’m glad that you are able to do the things that you have been videoing. My prayers for you are that your family members are safe and can join you soon.
Not all Americans are spoiled, Many of us grew up in large families and know the value of a dollar. Also we know what it is like to go hungry. We had Freedom values bred into us and all fight to stay free in this country contrary to the idiots you are actually speaking of, would would give our country up for "Free money?" so they dont have to lift a finger for anything!
One doesn’t have to be Texan to believe in freedom rather than dictators and power and money hungry politicians.
I would love to see him come to Nebraska and get some corn fed Prime Rib. That steak he was eating seemed a little bit tough. When you get steak that is tender enough to cut with just the fork you know you are eating great steak.
I thought the same thing when I seen he was sawing the steak with a knife. That is a tough piece of meat, cut the steak with just the side of the fork is the way it should be.
