A huge thank you to our UA-cam community who made this video possible and many more videos coming up. You have no idea how grateful we are to all of you.

It was heart breaking when he said that he never had a Christmas. Most of us have the fondest memory's of that time since childhood, from the music, the movies, the food, the family gatherings...etc. Communism is truly an evil ideology and way of living, it robbed this man of his youth and continues to destroy millions of others lives today. Freedoms must be protected at all costs.

So, many young Marines have no grasp of what it would be like tromping through rough terrain instead of being airlifted in. And a great many forget that hanging out in the air, there is no cover. Just read 1984 for the first time ever a month ago as a Vietnamese immigrant. I have no words to describe how I felt…. So much tears and revelations. They don’t tell you nothing… it’s just so shocking to see your oppression spelt out and even more shocking to understand just how shielded from reality I was… I’m crying right now seeing Yoel in a free country, free to read this book. I send only love and courage to one that is brave and free!

I appreciate that his first reaction to being told that followers were asked or encouraged to buy him gifts was that it wasn’t necessary or shouldn’t have been asked. I also appreciate that so many did do it, and probably would have willingly. Eager to see how much good they can do with others’ generosity!

Your message is so important. I hope to one day watch you celebrate your citizenship. America always needs more people like you.

I saw that huge smile on his face when he found he had a Play Station 4. We as Americans really need to fight a lot hard to preserve our freedoms. So we can put the same smile on our own children's faces. One gift I saw that Yoel has that he really needs to appreciate. He has Mari. A really wonderful woman, and he's a very lucky man to have her in his life.

  • @Meriale46

This brought tears to my eyes watching his reactions to his first real Christmas... as American's most of us don't think twice about the holidays because we were born celebrating Christmas and gift-giving is a normal thing... but we still have the very poor who have nothing to give and can't even afford to eat on Christmas. We have charitable organizations like Salvation Army that take donations and use the money to create care packages for the poor during the holidays... Toys for Tots accepts toys and donations to make sure children born into circumstances where they won't get any gifts at Christmas will have something to open on Christmas morning. You and Yoel live in a very nice home, you have money coming in and a means to make money. So many others don't even have that. I'm happy to see Yoel has found someone that loves him enough to make his life so much better. God Bless and Merry Christmas.

As a Native American. Someone who's ancestors have roots deeper than most in this country. Who have fought adversity in the country we were born in for generations before colonization. Who's family in recent generations fought for freedom in Vietnam, Korea, the Middle East and Europe. I can not express how emotional I get watching your guy's videos. How in the 21st century, a guy barely older than I, seeing and experiencing the things that we as Americans take for granted. Is just, both heart warming and saddening. I wish all could experience what we have. I wish the best for you two and those you had to leave in Cuba. Good Blessings

No, Christmas is not illegal in Cuba, but it was banned from 1969 to 1998. The ban was largely due to the belief that Christmas interfered with the sugar harvest. After Cuba declared itself an atheist country following the revolution, Christmas celebrations were not widely celebrated during Fidel Castro's time in power. However, Castro later called the ban an "Error of the Revolution" and reinstated Christmas as a national holiday in January 1998, just before Pope John Paul II visited Cuba. Since then, Christmas has become a flourishing tradition in Cuba.
