In this video, we will show you how to update your BIOS. This is a great solution if you don't have an Operating System installed on your server. This solution will require a USB Drive. We will download an EFI file from Dell.com onto the USB drive and then install the BIOS update onto your server through boot manager. This video will show the Step-by-Step Instructions on exactly how to do this. Click that like!

Spent 4 hours today trying to figure this out... should've checked youtube first. 20 Dell support articles and youtube always saves me. Thank you!!

haha, I just happened to get a poweredge R720 friday... The server was on 1.1.3. Was a nightmare trying to get the bios working on SUU and DSU... Honestly we should have started with a flash. worked like a charm.
    Thanks!

at 4:26, why does it say Poweredge R620? I suppose identical bios files for multiple servers? That would have made me hesitant to proceed personally.

So, on dell's website I get an EXE file instead of an EFI file. How would I do it with the EXE file?

What if the USB drive isn't showing up in the list of devices? It's only showing all the NICs.

I had to format my USB drive to FAT32 and it worked fine for me.

Get a USB drive smaller then 32 GB. I had a 128 GB usb could not detect it. Do the same download process on the smaller USB drive and make sure its Fat 32 and not EXFAT or anything else

@@waspenxgmail This was my issue. Forgot that anything over 32GB windows formats to exFat instead of FAT32. Once I formatted to FAT32 using GUI Format, it showed up and the update went smoothly.
