This still works (Apr 2nd 2021). Make sure to install Dell EMC Repository Manager, v3.3.1 since it has the last copy of the catalog Dec 2019 19.12.02. EMC v3.3 Only has 19.12.01. Also make sure to disable automatic catalog updates since it will remove 19.12.02. During install I had to disable my internet connection then run EMC, and then go into settings to disable automatic updates, then enable internet. If automatic updates is removing 3.3.1 for you you have to reinstall, EMC v3.3.1 after uninstalling (Linux: "sudo rm /opt/dell/dellemcrepositorymanager/ /var/dell/drm/ /var/.com.zerog.registry.xml -r") since there is no uninstaller.... You can backup the catalogs located in /opt/dell/dellemcrepositorymanager/config like I did once EMC v3.3.1 19.12.01 updates are locked in place. Also this video IS missing the the fact that you must install the EMC Boot ISO plugin (under linux anyways) from the plugin preferences (click update after checking off ISO plugin).

It's been discussed in the comments somewhat. You have to find an SUU ISO for the server. After than I think you might be able to load the files into the Dell program. But honestly if you have the SUU then you might not need the Dell software anyway.
Hi Allen, Thank you for the video. Well done. my dell r710 shows bios 1.1.4 on boot. When i run this update iso, it looks like it updates everything, says to reboot to complete and then shows "bios update failed" - I can't seem to figure out why this is happening.
The difference between the current BIOS and the one on the update is too great. You’re gonna need to update just the BIOS manually. Head to the Dell website and grab the first BIOS in the 2.0 section and update to that. If it works. Do it again to something mid 3.0. Keep doing this until you get to a point where the latest BIOS on the ISO works.

Allen, I just bought a Dell PowerEdge r420 for training in a classroom and we have zero idea how to use the iDRAC / LCC...I am an instructor... everything seems to be outdated, and we are having a problem updating... but.. is there a WAY to install the Server OS without having to go through these things? We just want to have RAID with and OS... don't care a fig about the other stuff.. can it be done or did I just throw $400 away? Please advise.
If you don’t want to update any of the bios then you’re good to go assuming the hardware supports what you’re trying to do. Throw some hard drives in. Config the RAID. Install an OS like you normally would.
If you mean using the Dell software, yes that's true the new catalogs don't offer the R710 any longer. I have made some ISO files and put them on my fourm.
That ISO is the complete set and because it's automatic, I don't know of a way to stop just the RAID updates. I didn't want my H200 firmware overwritten so I made an ISO that didn't have it in there. Do you know what RAID drivers you want to avoid? Or just all of them?
Very great video but it looks like the R210ii isnt on the list anymore. The oldest version goes back to around May of 2020 and its not listed. Any other ideas on how to update that machine using Windows 10?? Thanks.

K Branch jr that’s a tough one. I don’t use ZFS and I’m not sure if you can use ZFS and the normal raid controllers that come with an R710. I have upgraded cards from The Art of Server on UA-cam. His eBay store. These cards let you use IT mode and might allow you to create a ZFS pool. For me I mount all drives separately as ext4 using Directory in Proxmox. Not redundant but it’s what I like.

let me answer to my own question for other guys out there: you need to skip on the newest version, the 3.2 does provice r710 on the list, but I couldn't download anything into the repo. seems like the r710 is dead in the DRM.
I hope you are still around Allen :,) Whenever I try to update my own PowerEdge Servers that I use for virtual machines(ESXi) I am presented with tons of updates at DELL Support! Like 60+ possible updates, but I am super sure I don't need all of them! But I am also not super sure which ones I do need... How do you know which updates you should actually get?! :0 Should I just stick to BIOS and iDRAC updates?
I usually just go with updating anything I possibly can. However, if you are using a board that has been flashed/updated for a specific purpose, like an HBA used for JBOD instead of RAID. Then you don't want to update those. You can stick to just updating the iDRAC and the BIOS. That will resolve most of any issues you might see. Minor updates to the firmware on say hard drives and such might not be as necessary.
Thank you for excellent video. At least I understand how it works. But DELL already removed the older catalogues and R710 is no longer listed. Need to find another way.

I recommend starting with something closer to the bios and drivers that it is on right now vs the very latest right away. Maybe something in between them. Then if that is successful go to the latest BIOS.
@@Eruluthien Wow that would take forever with reboots. :) I'd say just a year with all three. BIOS LCC and iDRAC, say 2014. See if those three go ok. Then skip to 2016. Then 2018, then 2020. If you get failures try the files in-between years.

Hi Allen, I am having difficulty replicating your update results using the Dell EMC Repository.. I cannot get the R210 II to come up in the old server list.. Can you verify this method still works? Thanks Much.. Cheers,
So if you just installed the Dell EMC Repo software then the old Catalogs are not available to download. If you head to my Forum at forum.allenscloud.com you'll find a section with bootable ISO files that were created using the Dell EMC repo with the latest catalog that supported that model. If any came out after they are probably still hosted on the Dell site, just not in their repos.
@@marouengouddi4931 I tested it with VirtualBox. It boots just fine. Probably has something to do with how you're burning it or how your're putting it on USB. Try using Rufus and make sure the volume is called CDROM
@@kbranchjr no problem just trying to make sure I understand the issue. I’ve found the upload feature in Proxmox to be a bit unstable with large ISO files as well. Every firmware I've updated so far (BMC firmware, BIOS, RAID card firmwares etc) all updated without a hitch. It's just the iDRAC that's biting my a$$
Thanks Allen, was able to grab the older catalog from your cloud drive......and noticed some other goodies in there. #GAINEDSUB!!!
LOL now I’m worried. Email me. What’d you see? 😂
Haaa!! No Worries!!! I also have a few R610s and seen that bootable in there as well.
@@00kevin20 aww now that’s ok. Lol
@@AllenSampsell I recently acquired an R815, would you by chance have that repository? It seems that the 2019 ones are not accessible anymore, as they were when you published this vid :-(
@@juanquijano746 I tried to download them using the Dell software and the old catalogs I have but it won't work. I suggest getting all the files manually. www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/poweredge-r815/drivers
Do I need older version of Repository Manager to get the old Index Catalog? I cannot find r710 via the index catalog listed. Your video shows an older version. Wondering where I can get that 20.05 version. Currently searching my arse off
Check the comments above, he lists a file share for the ISO he has made.
I have the same question. I see the ISOs and thanks for providing them, but I want to know if the repositories still work or if someone has an exported copy.
Any idea on how to add R510? I can only see catalogs down to 2022-09-16 as the oldest and r510 is already gone from there
I have the R510 ISO available at my forum. forum.allenscloud.com
I can't seem to get the 810 or 710 on the repository. The 10 series is gone.
If you mean using the Dell software, yes that's true the new catalogs don't offer the R710 any longer. I have made some ISO files and put them on my fourm.
Does the iso on your forum for the 710 include raid card drivers? If so how can I stop it from updating the raid cards?
That ISO is the complete set and because it's automatic, I don't know of a way to stop just the RAID updates. I didn't want my H200 firmware overwritten so I made an ISO that didn't have it in there. Do you know what RAID drivers you want to avoid? Or just all of them?
Awesome Possum! Thank you! Does anyone have the 3.1 version installer exe? Dell doesn't seem to have it any longer.
Very great video but it looks like the R210ii isnt on the list anymore. The oldest version goes back to around May of 2020 and its not listed. Any other ideas on how to update that machine using Windows 10?? Thanks.
I have a link to the ISO file for the R210ii update disc on my forum if that helps. forum.allenscloud.com
@@AllenSampsell Have you link to the ISO file for R410 update dics? Where I can find it?
@@Grapefr sorry no I don’t. I do still have the old catalogs in my software though. Let me see what I can do.
Ok new topic for the R410 added to my forum. Downloadable ISO link is in there. forum.allenscloud.com
Thanks Allen for the reply. I just saw this response, but finally found the iso on dells website and got it working and got it up and running. Thanks for the reply though!
Dangit - the oldest catalog listed in 3.4 of DRM is 2020 and doesn't have my r320. It does have my r330, but ugh.
Yeah they’re gonna just get harder to support over time… maybe the individual updates are still out there?
Hey Allen, apologies if I made you take your forum down? I was able to grab that R710 iso, but I assume it's the build for the ZFS custom cards? Because it won't boot on my 710.
Ahh my forum is still up and running. And I don’t know what a ZFS custom card is, so it’s definitely not specific to that lol. As far as I know it should boot. Just depends on how you’re doing it I guess.
I cant find the 20 05 00 catalog think they have change the software
Ohh they definitely have. Another user just commented that installing an older version of the DRM gave him access to the old libraries.

Hi Allen, do you have the iso hosted somewhere else? Your link isn't working
Allen your link is down, anywhere else you may have the link for the iso?
question should I use the Raid in the R 710 or software raid (ZFS DISK pool) in Proxmox
Not redundant but it’s what I like.
ok , thanks for the help.
As of today, the list stop at March 2020-20.03.01 :( so how do we get the ones from the date you are showing ?
Yes everyone seems to have that question. I didn’t realize that Dell removed catalogs when I created the video. Others have said you can import files from an SUU disc or other source. But I’m not certain anyone will ever be able to get the catalogs again.
@@AllenSampsell thank for your fast answer. For update, I went on to use a usb stick with centos on it and do it manualy.
its just a lots longer that way.
Hi, there is no 2019 GZ index stated anymore. Any tips?
let me answer to my own question for other guys out there: you need to skip on the newest version, the 3.2 does provice r710 on the list, but I couldn't download anything into the repo. seems like the r710 is dead in the DRM.
@@pieroog Right you need to pick a catalog when the R710 was last supported. Anything new and you won't find anything in there for it.
I hope you are still around Allen :,)
Whenever I try to update my own PowerEdge Servers that I use for virtual machines(ESXi) I am presented with tons of updates at DELL Support!
@@AllenSampsell Thank you Allen! Glad to see you are still around in UA-cam :)
Thank you for excellent video. At least I understand how it works. But DELL already removed the older catalogues and R710 is no longer listed. Need to find another way.

I just got a T320 Poweredge server with Enterprise iDRAC7 that has not had any updates to BIOS, LCC or iDRAC since 2013. Do you know if it will cause a problem to install the latest ones? I have read they have to be stepped up and it does not go past Nov 2019. I'd hate to brick this server since I am new to this iDRAC and LCC environment.

Well apparently Dell only allow you to download only so much before they cut off access. The good thing to do is to wait 24hr and go further. This is on the DRM and the server page.
