Before coming to Albania, we knew nothing about it. Jonathan didn't know it was a country. Is there anything you'd like to add about Tirana or Albania as a whole? Have you been to Tirana? What tips do you have for anyone watching this video? Comment below!
It's so wonderful you two are slow traveling the world 🌎 and sharing it with us.👍 I agree totally food in Southern and Eastern Europe is just so healthy and great tasting 😋 👍
We are happy to share our journey! Thank you for watching!! We definitely want to visit that area of the world again to enjoy the delicious and healthy foods there 😄
It takes alot of time to pronounce some letters in albanian, thats why you think the Q Is silent but It isnt. There isnt a direct way to explain how to pronounce It either.
Yes, we say Albani-a and yes we call our country Shqiperia where the q is actually pronounced and I am not sure how to describe it in English. Not sure who named centuries ago our country Shqiperia but likely from the eagle bird which in Albanian is "shqiponje" and is the double headed eagle in our flag as well. Unfortunately, we have a very painful past during communist regime. Albanians turned on their fellow Albanians and a genocide was committed. That pyramid is a shame that should've been destroyed as it was built to "honor" the dictator but current government and those in the past are his followers even though they claim to deny him. Last photo on the video shows white mulberries. Did you guys taste them? When I am there I can't get enough of them. Also figs. In June you find there what we call ancient figs which are 3 times bigger in size than normal ones and the normal ones are ripe in August and September. There are many places where you can clean your digestive system but I'd recommend our Alps where you can breathe clean air full of oxygen, drink water from streams coming down from mountains and eat raw bio food. You kids were fun to watch. Good luck with your future travels. Cheers.
Thank you so much for your amazing, informational comment! We appreciate you sharing some of your knowledge about your country with us regarding our video and for putting it here so that others can benefit from it. That is so interesting about the name of your country and how the eagle is a symbol on the flag and probably inspired the name as well. We’re sorry for mispronouncing the words, I hope you will forgive us, we did our best. And oh wow, the history of the pyramid is a shame. We were just walking around and ran into it by accident and we were intrigued by being able to climb stairs on the outside of a building to the top. And the white mulberries, yum! They are beautiful! They were giving Jonathan a little allergies sometimes. 🤧 Thank you for pointing those out and the figs sound delicious as well! And spending time in the Albanian Alps sounds absolutely rejuvenating and amazing. Great recommendations for our future travels in Albania and anyone reading this! Thank you so much again for watching and following along!!
@@TRAVELiving-NJLA Oh please there's nothing to forgive. Your pronunciation was much better than many others and I don't even pay attention to that. You guys are awesome. Interesting mulberries gave Jonathan allergies. Perhaps, his body was not used to them if it was his first time eating them. If there will be a next time visit you guys should scout our countryside especially high mountain areas. You will be pleasantly surprised by our traditional cuisine and the hospitality of our people. Thank you for saying so many good words about my country. Cheers.
Dude the Name Albania comes from small city in Ancient Time, But Albanians called Shqiperia witch mean the Land off Eagle ok so Shqiponja mean Eagle in Albanian so u get the pic ok Albanian Language is the Oldest in the World if u see the Tree of Language is the first Root so u get the idea of who we are, and Saint Mother Teressa is from Albania to, just as u know
That makes sense. Thank you for sharing that! To our ears, it sounds like the Q is probably a silent letter, but that’s just because of how it’s pronounced. It’s cool to hear different languages like Albanian!

Thank you for letting us know about this. The Q sounded silent to our untrained ears. Albanian is a cool language.
