Hi there, I'm writing from my x250. I bought it last year for 200EUR and have been using it for the past 6 months. It came with all bells and whistles: mint condition, cpu i7, FHD IPS, backlit keyboard, fingerprint sensor. I replaced the fan for better cooling, wifi 6E AX200, additional drive in WWAN port (I dual boot Zorin OS and Win 10), also upgraded ram to 16gb. It came with barely worn-out batteries. It's a great laptop. I also own x270 and x280. In my view x270 was the pinnacle of this line. All it needed was 13.3 screen, quad-core cpu and ram in dual channel. That is it. I hate apple and will never own any of their products as they set up a stupid trend of thinner all-soldered ultrabooks. I can accept x280 as I don't mind soldered ram (16gb is enough for my needs) or lack of replaceable battery. I don't know how I would feel about x13 starting from 2nd gen. Even keyboard is getting worse and whitelisting of ports is back.
These earlier ThinkPads are/were amazing PCs. Great build quality, fantastic keyboard, upgradability and extensive list of ports. Sadly, the current generation of ThinkPads are losing a lot of these features. This is a real shame as the ThinkPad in basically unique and those of us who love them buy the.m for these reasons. I have a ThinkPad X270 which is very similar to the X250. My daily driver in a ThinkPad E490 which is also a very good machine. I fear, the ThinkPad as we know and love it will become a thing of the past in the years ahead as it morphs to just another Lenovo brand.
You can run Windows 11 by going to bios security and security chip and selecting Intel PTT which gives you TPM 2.0 support and then your all set to go. This has been available for the T and X series since 2014.
Thanks for including gaming benchmarks. Will look forward to buying one under 100$ on a used market, intend to use it for daily work at office but if can game its better, thats why im curious. Also, try this machine for PSP and PS2 Emulation
Informative video and helpful for anyone looking to purchase or re-purpose these types of machines. Always, one for re-using devices for those on a budget if only doing basic to low-medium tasks.
i used to own one of these with a fhd touch screen, extended battery and fingerprint reader. it was a great laptop. a shame the lack of performance is starting to show
How heavy will the blender work be, while it can handle fusion 360 that is only with light workloads. If your going to be seriously modelling you'll want something with more power
I bought it in 2018 I wish it had touchscreen and screen could turn 360 degrees but couldnt find x250 with this spec. The only complaint I have is its casing isnt that sound if you hold it with one hand and cause the keyboard curve a little its locking the system and you need to reset the device.
The X250 is a fine system and perfectly usable for office/browing users. It also runs Linux very well. But the X270 and X280 are quicker and not much more expensive. So, unless you get a very good deal on one, it's probably worth a few quid to get a slightly newer model.
I bought one ofc used, it was in really good condition, two batterys, they are older so I should upgrade to new one, its an i5 with 4gb ram, i could put 8 gb ram, its so smooth, fast and really nice compact laptop, I was really pleased by performance for what it can ofer such a small laptop, its worth it, I bought it for 150 dollars, if you have any questions leave a comment
@@mheldgs23 You can play older games on max no problem, some newer ones up to 30 fps, Problem is just its graphic card because its integrated, its weakest part of the laptop like every integrated graphic, this laptop was never designed for gaming, you can code in any program no problem, photoshop or anything like that, it flys trough windows really

Can you give me advice? I got a X250, alreayd had a lenovo dock, which I can connect to the X250 with a USB-c to 20v coax (the yellow tipped connector) adaptor, that allows me to power the laptop, but wont connect to the 2 screens? how do I connect the laptop to the dock? should i use the USB 2.0 slots or the VGA? wierd that the adaptor allows power to the laptop, but doesnt connect the screens. thanks
Hi! I got the X250 about 2 months ago. I did an update and the Battery 1 and Battery 2 appear. No notification when battery is low and just shuts off, but it only exhaust the Bat 2. Even though there is a remaining battery percentage in Bat 1. Before the update, it only shows battery 1 and there is the notification when it gets to 20% Don’t know what to do with this. Any suggestions?
Windows 11 will run amazing on it. I have X200, windows 11 runs okay. I also have X230 tablet dual boot WIndows 11 and Fyde OS -- all just run amazing.
I'm just starting my journey in digital marketing, so, I can say much about the programs. But, I will be running ads and managing social media pages. Also, I might do a little video editing.
Well for video editing it will do a fine job, infact I edited my latest video on it and if the on the things are on a web browser then it should be fine as long as u have 8gb of ram
The newer cpu of the x250 will probably help it in any performance heavy applications, but the real difference is the chassis. The t440 is 14 inch, the x250 is 12. The t440 has no physical buttons at the top of the track pad, the x250 does. With that said it is up to you. Hope this helped
Up to you some people don't like the larger size that a 14inch laptop brings and some people don't like the smallness of a 12 inch. I find the x250 is more than large enough for text editing and such. So I'm sure it would be fine for school stuff
I'm not to sure about thst, but you canngo onto the thinkpad subreddit and look there. Your 2 real options are older laptops with workstation grade stuff or modern integrated graphics in more modern designs and as for pricing I really have no idea. Hope this helps
Should i buy a x250 or a x270 ? The x250 cost 199€ and the x270 cost 249€ . I only want a thinkpad for the school for study and I think i want to run Linux instead of Windows.
It's very dependent on the workload but usually around 2 to 4 hours. But that is with only 1 battery that has never been replaced so if you repleced / upgraded it would be better
Depends it would be fine for writing code and the keyboard is nice but when it comes to compiling programs it might slow down so I would do some research into it before making a purchasing decision
@@InigmaDT Can you judge how good battery life is with a new one and i5 HD resolution? There's a refurbished one on Amazon for like 250€ and I'm looking for a good, cheap, relatively long battery life experimental laptop to run Linux on it (Windows way too heavy and power consumptive xD).

Can you run photoshop and illustrator at the same time without affecting performance?
You can expect some slow down when running photoshop by itself so I would expect slightly more when running illustrator along side
Thank you for that video, Im thinking about purchasing this model for web browsing and blender + light art work.

9:08 for better gaming performance I recommend T440p besides you don’t have to sacrifice portability very much since it’s 14 inch.

You can switch FN and CTRL in BIOS.
Huh I did not know that. Thanks for letting me know. But as I said in the video i got used to the layout so it is now my preferred position
