can't say I expected this but I've no complaints. I love Lovecraftian horror so stories by Lovecraft himself, especially narrated by TES, are always welcome
You should check out the Nick Cage movie about this story. It's pretty wild.
@@radagast7200 Yes it is!
@@stratometal my friend, I don't often recommend videos in the comments... but you gotta watch watch the Nicholas Cage Cypher by JT Music.
@@radagast7200 Will do, thanks!
caught you lacking in the wild Tomar 💀
"and because they all told me to pay not attention ,,, I sought him out next morning" this is me. Big time.

Me too
Dude gives his kids names like that and he’s surprised to have been the unwitting host of a strange alien entity.
Yeah your right there.
Came for the SCP, stayed for the Lovecraft...and SCP. Killer work, makes these hauls to work enjoyable.

Brother I have covid, full body cramps and fever. At 6am I had slept about 15 minutes. Scrolling though my phone this popped up and I knew I had found the answer, slept for 5 hours solid.
Thank you sir, you're a UA-cam legend in my eyes.
I hope you feel better:)
No way, this is one of my favorite books by lovecraft, so happy to hear you reading it and I hope you do more lovecraft
He's done a few other works of Lovecraft's
There's a movie about this book it has Nicholas Cage in it and it's different enough from the book to where you can still get supreized by it.
@@yadell8018the movie is pretty epic but you have to be down for Nicolas Cage shenanigans
Lovecraft is my absolute favorite author, and I have been watching your channel for a looooong time just on the SCP content alone.
I have the Love craft historian society audio book which I listen to a lot, but I PREFER your versions by a long shot, and the fact you have such a passion for this you are willing to put work of this quality out for free view is absolutely commendable, and very much appreciated.
But the cat tho
*applause* 👏🏻👏🏻

I love all of your H.P. Lovecraft reads. I've probably listened to each 50+ times at this point and this is a very welcome addition to the playlist. This is one of my favorite Lovecraft stories and you've done an amazing job with it just like always. Thank you.
This is one of my favorites so thanks for voicing it. "The case of Charles Dexter Ward" is also a lovecraft masterpiece and big enough to give you a few parts. Love ya man keep up the good work
Pickman's Model is one of my favorites.
@@radagast7200 Pickmans model and Shadow over innsmuth are my favorites, the way lovecraft intertwined his stories was increadable, given his SOI video was done so well I would love to hear him voice it.
Why leave my own comment when you've already articulated it?
Lives in a well. Going to flood the valley. Lives in the reservoir now. Welp, I’m sure nothing will come of it.

@@jondoe584 I’m sure you got it but I was trying to point out how nuts the concept is. Like having a homicidal goldfish that is only limited by the size of the fish tank and releasing it into a lake. “ problem solved, I’m sure no Godzilla class entity will result from our actions “ 🤪😬

There's a manga based on this particular story, and it captures the horror and mystery wonderfully. Great job TES and i recommend the manga to everyone
You dare tease the story but not utter the title? What kind of monster are you?
@@techmasterkat9048 i believe it's actually the same name 😂 I'll check
@@techmasterkat9048 i think the artist's name is Tanabe Gou, but there's a few he's done.

All of them are really good. Esp. Haunter of the Dark
As I lay in bed due to severe back pain (rendering me bed ridden for the past 8 hours), this video has brightened my day!
hope Ur doing ok !!!
I love how he uses the fear of the unknown in this one, it's amazingly accurate. I can see why this was one of his favorites, it's now one of mine as well.
And thus ends another episode of "Story Time with Mangg", thanks for another delightful evening!
Nick went full Nick Cage in the movie recently made by the same title.
One of my favorite Lovecraft stories. I love the build up, where you can never be sure if what is happening is really happening.
This is a real treat. My favorite Lovecraft story, hands down.
His own too. He wrote in one of his letters that he was the most satisfied with this one (not in those words), which is like a praise parade with banners and clowns and fireworks from Lovecraft when talking about his own writing.
@@SatyreIkon Huh, neat. 😁
Loved the movie, with Nic Cage, as well.
@@IchbinX I need to take the time to watch that one.
My favorite thing that you do is these HPL audiobooks.
An early upload, eh? You have my gratitude for more H.P Lovecraft.
My friend was just telling me about this one last night, great timing!
I was refreshing my UA-cam trying to find something to listen too. This was literally perfectly timed. Thank you my good sir
i finally caught covid and today has been my first day bedridden, i was wondering how i was gonna pass the time and here comes TES with one of my favorite lovecraft stories. thank you man
So weird this came up while I just finished rewatching the movie with nicholas cage, awesome thanks!!!!
I love you, this is one of my favorite books of all time.
Glad you read this one. Not only one of my favorites, but I think this was Lovecrafts favorite as well.
One of the greatest works horror/weird fiction ever written, and probably my all time favorite.
My first Lovecraft story. God save me if TES does The Mound.
@@FiveHundredHungryGhosts
Loved that one too. Wasn't The Mound written with another author? I can't remember if it was one of his extensive edits or not. Sooo many good stories.
Lovecraft was the ghostwriter for that story, was he?
@@michaelandreipalon359
That's what I thought too. I thought it was for a female writer. I'll have to go through my collection. I have everything he's ever written. I just have to find the time.
I appreciate the HP Lovecraft audio books. Thanks Man!
My dude keep up the great content!! Wanna hear some more SCP!
Thank you for continuing to upload Lovecraft content. I've listened to all your narrations of his works and loved every single one of them.
Omg crazy I was just relistened to the shadow over inns. And then log on just now to get this notification!!! Love the audio book and your voice! Thank you!!!!
this is a nice surprise, ty TES
This and the Outsider are my favourite HP Lovecraft stories.
I’m surprised the trope of “family won’t move out of haunted house” is this old. Excellent story. I’m glad it’s not blocked on my school laptop. Also, I don’t know how to describe (fittingly) the feeling I got when the narrator talked about the possibility that the Color fastened itself to something keeping it from moving.
Ammi. He’s never left. Neither of them can leave. But Ammi can’t have too much life left in him. He’d be ninety years old at least. And when he passes? Lord help the world.
I think it’s the land, or the well (edit: or the trees!). Because unlike the others who it fastened onto (like the mother- the shadow that left after she passed was probably a part of it), Ammi hasn’t been having the symptoms(?) they did. But I could totally be wrong and I do really like your interpretation! Maybe the reason Ammi’s symptoms haven’t progressed is because he lives farther away from the well or where the thing landed.
It's not that they don't want to move out, because its obviously harmful to them.
But the Colour compels them to stay, and they can't resist it.
“The family moved out as soon as they noticed something is not right. The end.”
ooohh so exited! It's been a minute since Exploring put out an HP reading.
What a most excellent surprise. Cheers!
This is my favorite Lovecraft story, second to none.
It took me 2 decades to forget the trauma I got from reading this story for the very 1st time... & now The Exploring Series just reignited that trauma!
Aw yeah my favorite Lovecraft tale!
I always struggle reading hp Lovecraft but hearing it is much easier to comprehend...thanks for the reading!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this, and I can hardly believe my ears! You’ve got something here!
Wow .To me this is Lovecraft at his best.Constantly hitting on all cylinders So glad you have put this out for us .Long live the Blasted Heath.
Long live the Strange Days
Bruh your Lovecraft narrations are some of the best out there! If you ever stop doing UA-cam you could legit read for audiobooks.
Oooo, so excited. This is one of my fav HP Lovecraft stories
Going to watch this on the drive to work Monday, hell yeah!
I am once again asking you to do a more in-depth and multi-part coverage of the Antimemetics Division storyline, like your Ourobouros cycle and Inevitable videos. There is a lot of truly great stuff there and your current antimemetics video is entirely inadequate for how much excellent stuff there is there.
I remember listening to another audio version of this book while deployed in Afghanistan. Loved entertaining the idea of a color you cannot describe.
Glad to hear it read by TES.
Hell yeah, story time once more~
Ah yes, it's that spooky time of the year once more
Pray we have a lot of holy water, crucifixes, silver, wafers, candy, and raisins for this time of year once more.
The voice we needed to tell this story.
This is my favorite story of all time. And I love your narration Mang! Thank you for this!
The german version of this is genious. They hired the german voice of Johnny Depp for the audiobook, and had a very talented orchestra. Search for "Die Farbe aus dem All". Even if you don't understand it it's a treat to the ears.
we all hail Simon Jäger. He also voiced Vaas so it gotta be good!
Thank you so much for the recommendation! It never occurred to me that audio-book Lovecraft might be available in German, and done by a truly great narrator-actor. I hope to find more German Lovecraft. And there must be others, as well... ho for Kafka!
Wait, it's not an ungodly hour on Monday morning...
Only kidding, love all the audiobooks. I've listened to your reading of the mountains over madness several times. Can't wait for this one as well!!!
This is the best your a delight to listen to
Perfect timing, i was looking for some good listening while i did doordash and you deliver with a classic. Thank you!
I love all your lovecraft readings, and I listen to them all the time. However, this one. This one is special. You did this perfectly and I listen to this regularly.
And there it is. My favorite short story read by my favorite voice. It is a good day.
Did not expect this but it is most welcome. Thank you good sir!✌🏿😁
I really appreciate the atmosphere provided by the illustrations. I've listened to this story before but it'd been difficult to visualize the area.
Ah man, I've read and heard this book so much. Love it. If you all haven't watched the Nick Cage movie of the same name, you should. It's wild
He goes full Cage.
You can also watch the first adaptation called The Cursed.
Darkwood is a great horror game with a very similar premise.
This is nuts I was just looking to see if you had done this one yesterday. Thank you!
Thank you so much, I treasure your audiobooks, especially the Lovecraft stuff!
YESSS! Love this one? Are you doing from beyond next?
I know it's supposed to be unexplainable, but my headcanon is that the Color was some kind of undiscovered radioactive isotope.
It disintegrates quickly, suggesting a short half-life. It makes organisms grow sick and mutate. Nahum says that it "burns", even though it's cold to the touch (its initial heat could have been from entering the atmosphere). The beams of light from the well sound similar to the beams of ionizing radiation that were seen emitting from Reactor 4 when Chernobyl blew its top. The things the Gardners are seeing could be hallucinations or delusions brought on by brain damage, heavy metal poisoning, or malnutrition.
I'm so glad you covered HP Lovecraft
If you could some how do these stories dramatically with sound effects; you would be my favorite.
this is literally my favourite lovecraft story. thank you so much.
Great voice acting on this one mangg this is great
Only in Lovecraft can color be a source of great horror and evil
he really is an expert at making the mundane terrifying
I’m super hype you covered this. This is definitely going in in my sleeping playlist
Brilliant book, you did a marvellous job at portraying the character voices as well!
The German version of this movie was pretty smart by making everything but The Colour in black and white.
Finally got round to hearing this story, thank you for narrating and uploading it.
Magnificent. Your Lovecraft readings are what made me subscribe, and it’s great to see another entry.
This is my favorite Lovecraft story!
My favorite story from lovecraft!
So happy that you made another Lovecraft reading. I've listened to your other readings several times by now.
I have been waiting for this !!! So excited. Your voice suits this genre very well.
This has always been my favorite HP story. And I regularly listen to your videos when relaxing for bed. This is perfect, your narration is amazing as always.
Yessssss, I used to love when you would do these, this is so perfect!
The delivery of Ammi's speech near the middle of the story was just *chef's kiss*. I fell asleep listening to this the first time and woke up during that part and it was legit scary.
This is one of my favorite stories! This and the Dream Quest of unknown Kadath are so good!
Thank you for the new audio. Best narrator on you tube.
Love seeing TES doing more Lovecraft audiobooks! I devoured the others he’s done, and had always hoped he’d do more
My favorite Lovecraft story. Thanks for making this!
Dude I saw the movie with Nicolas cage and am now HYPED for this one
Finally, this without a doubt is always your best work
This one was great. Lovecraft is awesome mangg you're amazing.
Would you ever review or did you review the Richard Stanley film version of this with Nic Cage? Absolutely positively on point for Lovecraft on the silver screen. Everyone on your channel would thoroughly enjoy it and Enter The Void.
i goddamn squealed with joy - TES doing lovecraft yaaas
This was my first lovecraft story i listened too years ago. And in glad this was my first introduction to the lovecraft mythos.
Now years later its still one of those stories i like to come back to every so often.
Was hoping you'd do your own audiobook of this story at some point i love your narration. Glad that day is here.
Always happy to have audiobooks from you!
This is my favorite Lovecraft story. So excited. Thank you for this!
Well done.
"The poles have come, and departed."
Yeah, that's usually what I do when mine's done too.
Horror stories. Come for the scares, stay for the maybe unintentional sexual connotations.
One of my all-time favorites out of Lovecraft.
Yesssss.. thank you man, been waiting on a new lovecraft one for some time🤘🤘
This is a flavor of lovecraftian I didn't know existed. Love I'm also fadvinated by the way his stories are written, completely different from the modern novel, it really is a telling like sitting around a campfire at night.
Recently saw the adaptation with Nicolas Cage. I quite liked it
Wow this story is incredible, and actually quite horrifying. But TES's narration and voice acting is immaculate, it just drives the story home in such a powerful way!
Omg my favorite narrator does one of my favorite stories from one of my favorite writers
